This document summarizes a student's project to create a mock-up I-beam. It outlines the objective to find materials and create the mock-up beam. It describes cutting steel into web and flange parts, polishing the parts, and using epoxy glue to connect them. Calculations were done to analyze the beam's properties like normal force, shear force, moment, and deflection. The student concluded it provided knowledge of cross-section properties and classifications, though errors may have occurred since epoxy glue was used instead of welding.
Since so many years a problem occurs in KSB Pump Va mbori for casting process i.e. cracks occurs in the castings & it is repeated one. Therefore the compan y has given opportunity to me to solve this problem . In case of steel casting there are mainly cracks & also blo w holes induced due to the casting procedure. There are many factors for the casting defects .The factor is unev en material feeding in casting & also due to the mo uld material & also the core material. These cracks finally brea k directly the component of the casting i.e. in cas e of pump the casting component is like Impeller,Volute casing & casing cover. At the time of feeding of steel material in to the casting the material is in liquid us form i.e. it i s hot material & this material is feeding into casting at the time o f feeding it develop different region of heat. At o ne side the temp is high &at other side the temp is low this also pr oduce cracks. To simulate that casting we use the M AGMA SOFTWARE for simulation & validate it using NDT.
Experimental analysis of various pcs by spark testingSumit Dharmarao
Knowledge of material properties, production
methods and manufacturing processes are each
important subject in the material science discipline.
Material testing methods are standardized by several
organizations, such as ASTM, ISO, ASM and DIN etc.
Materials are tested and their mechanical properties
are tabulated in handbooks. This project will explain a
study conducted on how a certain number of carbon
steels might be identified through the observation of
the sparks projected when a specimen is held against a
grinding wheel. There are many factors that can
change the spark patterns that are projected, but the
main goal of this project is to attempt to standardize a
method of spark testing and how it is performed. The
study was conducted on six different grades of carbon
steels that are commonly used in manufacturing
processes. A reference manual was created from the
experimental data cataloguing the spark pictures. This
manual can be used by students and potentially by
machine shops to identify samples of the included
materials. This can lead to significant savings for
machine shops by using a relatively easy, user friendly
method, to identify unknown stock sitting around in
the shop

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.
Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed.It is also Faster and more efficient way.

2022-2023
3. 1. OBJECTIVE
• How to find materials and create the mock up I-Beam.
• The I-beam is the kind of beam that is used the most often in structural
steel construction. There are many types of steel beams of different sizes
to use in the construction of steel structures.
• Calculate the parameter related to I-Beam Cross-Section
5. 3. PROCEDURE
3.1. BOQ
3.2. Safety
Safety in doing the process of IPE beam :
• We have to wear gloves to avoid over heat of the steel strip and accident
• We have to wear glasses to protect our eyes
• Wear thick clothes and be aware of the blade
6. 3.3. Processing
In this process, we bought steel and cut it in three parts such as a web
and two flanges. Because of the small sample steel, mock up I-Beam
so we used the Epoxy Steel Glue to connect the steel.
I spend the half day to do this project. Firstly, we cut the steel (Web
and Flanges), then I do the polish those steel to make it smooth. After
that, I brought those steel to calibrate the position of flange with web
before I connected with epoxy steel glue.
7. 4.1. FIND P LOAD
h=21.6 mm
b=8.7 mm
L=140 mm
tw=1.0 mm
tf=1.0 mm
r=0 mm
fy=235 MPa (S235)
4. CALCULATION
12. 5. Conclusion of
This mock up beam project gave me
more knowledge related to my studies. In
fact, the cross section of the steel is not
cataloged, so I decided to calculate based
on the actual data. In the calculations I
designed based on welding but in the
process, I used epoxy glue so there may
be some errors in the test.
