Mission Statement: Our mission is to provide a place where family, friends, and college students can share
stories or sporting events while enjoying a cheerful Hawaiian dining experience.
Our Vision: Kuhio Bar & Grill aims to serve the local community by bring you the best and
quality ingredients by supporting our local farmers. Allow us to serve you the local experience, Aloha and
welcome!
6. VALUES-Travis
Safety Maintain policies within the bar and grill that
comply with USDA and FDA standards. All
employees must take courses in food safety.
Non footwear must also be worn.
Customers Bar Tenders, waiters, and waitresses as well as
management staff must be able to build and
maintain connections with patrons.
Our People Staff the bar and grill with host/hostesses, bar
tenders, waiters/waitresses that can bring and
maintain a cheerful environment for the
customers.
Community We will stay involved in the community in which
we operate and dedicate our physical and
financial assets to programs and groups that fit

7. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES-Travis
Short Term: To serve the local community as well as serving visitors that come from afar. The ability to serve
as a caterer to Graceland University. Ability to serve as a meeting place for friends and family.
Long Term: To give the local community a meeting place rather than a college location such as pizza hut or
pizza shack. Serving the mature generation, since students are only here 8 months out of the year.

13. OPERATIONS-
Dalton
•Operated in Lamoni Iowa

•Lunch and dinner will be served at specified times
Staff:

•Before opening and closing the restaurant must be
thoroughly sanitized

drivers to deliver orders

PROCEDURES-
Dalton
9:30 am: Unlock doors and restaurant turn on lights
Grill:
10:00 am: Sanitize all equipment in kitchen and bar, as well as serving trays and restaurant tables
10:30 am: Start kitchen (Grill) and bar equipment
Take inventory of supplies and order more if needed
11:00 am: Managers brief staff on specials (drinks, menu items) and any reserved parties that are arriving within
the day
12:00 pm: Begin accepting guest and serve lunch
Begin take-out service
2:00 pm: Stop serving lunch
2:30 pm: Sanitize all equipment
3:00 pm: Begin accepting dinner guest and serving dinner menu items
10:00 pm: Lock doors and stop accepting guest
10:30 pm: Sanitize kitchen and guest area tables and utensils
11:00 pm: All managers and staff go home
Bar:
9:30 am: Turn on bar lights and ice machine
Stop taking orders for take-out service and deliver last orders
10:00 am: Managers brief staff on specials (drinks, menu items) and any reserved parties that are arriving within
the day
10:30 am: Take bar inventory and order more if needed
12:00 pm: Begin serving drinks
5:00 pm: Begin serving for happy hour

Kuhio Bar & Grill is based in the state of Iowa. To form an
LLC in Iowa and $45 biannually.
Co-Owners, Dalton Larrington, Travis Miyashiro, Maria da
Silveira, and Jordan Lester
Being that a few of the founders are out of the area, there will
be 2 founders to manage the operation as well as other hired
managers. We will hire 4 managers at $22,880 per year.
We will hire and have trained 24 employees by December of
2021, with the addition of Dalton and Jordan acting as
managers.

Choices: Does not serve beverages due to them being owned by Graceland, they also do not serve any food in any capacity.
La Cocina: In La Cocina’s current state they are hurting for customers due to both word of mouth and a bad location (Tucked away by the main street Lamoni)
Subway: offers a limited amount on their menu such as subs and salads. Comparing ourselves to them we offer a vast variety of other products.
Pizza Shack: Tailors only to college age students and the younger generations. Doesn’t offer a menu that attracts the adult and older generation due to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Offering only a select amount of selections such as pizzas, pastas and the like. As well as offering now a limited selection of alcoholic beverages.
Pierces dairy cup: A small hole in the way by highway 69, with hours of operation that varies day by day. With operation being run by only one person rather than having a full staff that assist him with day to day operations. From ordering to finish times vary due to the amount of food order and being only ran by one person.
Maidrite: A niche fast food restaurant that offers more of an older diner vibe. In terms of competition they serve mostly tourists that visit the Iowa Missouri border than the surrounding community. They offer a wide selection of home cooked meals and other fast food related options. Granted their location is a bit out of the way for the community and local university since they are next to the interstate, this shows who they intend to serve.
Quilt Country: a restaurant right off the interstate that offers home cooked meals alongside a buffet. Only offering small servings for quite an expensive price compared to surrounding business. To our knowledge they may serve alcohol but only a small selection. They seem to serve the older generation such as those that take advantage of the early bird discounts.
Pizza hut: Offering pizza and pasta selections, serving more of those who come to visit university students and those apart of the away team. They do seem to be a family establishment showing that they do value the local community with Lamoni Demons and Graceland University apparel and décor.
