![Key Stage 4<br />Congratulations Y11 cohort 2010/11 <br />As you are hopefully aware our Y11’s performed exceptionally well in their Summer GCSE examinations with the school achieving a pass rate of 90% A*-C and 35% A*-A. These are the best set of results the school has achieved and is testament to the pupil’s work ethic and the dedication of their subject teachers. <br />A special mention should go out to Samantha Hutchinson, Lotte Muller and Hazim Zia (pictured) who between them achieved 16 A* and 14 A grades. <br /> <br />Hall of Fame for Year 10 and 11<br />Over the summer we completed a review of the progress made by last year’s Year 9 that have joined Key Stage 4 and our Year 10’s moving to Year 11. We tracked their academic attainment in addition to monitoring their ‘attitude to learning’ scores throughout the course of the year. These have now been made into league tables for pupils to work on improving their position within their year group. This will include interesting careers events throughout the year, a more detailed careers focus in PSHE, and the opportunity for all KS4 pupils to book dedicated slots in Careers Support Meetings, one-on-one with our new Careers teacher, Mr. Drennan (initially these meetings are restricted to year 11 and Sixth Form, for reasons of priority and timescales for university application).<br />33782038735The best way to stay informed of careers news for young people, and to access these opportunities, is to visit the new DBS Careers blog at http://dbscareers.wordpress.com/. Through this organistion our Year 10 and 11 pupils will be offered the opportunity to complete The Futurewise Scheme which is an in-depth psychometric analysis resulting in individual reports designed to help students and their parents to make informed decisions about A level and IB choices. The initial assessments will be completed between 31st October-2nd November , letters regarding this will be out very soon.<br />Term 1 - Y10 and Y11 Examinations<br />These will be occurring on 8th,9th,11th,14th, and 15th November. It is extremely important that pupils pay attention to their individualised examination timetable as when clashes occur (as in the case of e.g. re-sits) pupils may be sitting their exams at a different time to their friends. Please note that these examinations will be occurring in the school’s half term period as our examination boards fall in line with UK term dates. All pupils have been provided with an ‘Examination Guidebook’ with key details of procedures and expectations. <br />Term 1 KS 4 Social <br />On Thursday 8th December there will be a Bowling trip open to all KS4 pupils occurring after school at Switch Bowling, Ibn Battuta Mall.
