2. Problem
● Learning a new language is
hard, and fluency is key.
● Existing software doesn’t
focus on conversational
fluency.
● It isn’t easy to find people
to practice speaking with.
3. Scenario
Name: Tom Williams
Profession: Sophomore, UofM
Location: Ann Arbor, MI
Native language: English
Learning: Russian
Tom is passionate about learning Russian, and has been
using language-learning apps to become proficient in it. He
has become confident in his Russian writing skills but gets
bogged down while trying to speak long sentences.
He learns about the new app Koalinga that helps find native
speakers to improve fluency. He signs up for the app and
discovers a ton of people near him with native Russian
fluency through the GPS locator feature.
He finds a Russian guy named Vadim, within 2 miles, who
wants to improve his English fluency. He looks at his profile
and connects with him. Vadim replies to Tom and they
decide to meet next day, for an hour, at Starbucks to
exchange their native languages.
