SYSTEMS ENGNEERING
WORKFLOW MODELLING AND ANALYSIS
Dr. GARY WITUS
PROBLEM
• Engineering enterprises have unnecessary rework and delay that can be
prevented by a rationalizing the workflow with control measures.
• Procedures and tools are needed to track, model, and rationalize the
engineering workflow
• Inconsistencies and Incompatibilities of design and development standards in
engineering projects
TERMINOLOGIES
• Work-Product: - Deliverables and/or Outcomes (set of requirements, model
prototype, decision or results) that must be produced to complete a project and
achieve its objectives.
• Meta-Data: - The information pertaining to work product capturing the project
and the work product type, configuration management number, release date,
and approval signatures by individuals in management or oversight roles.
• This is similar to the block -chain algorithm.
OBJECTIVES
• Enhance Configuration Management Meta-data.
• Identify long reconciliation feedback loops and control measures to avoid
accumulation of inconsistencies between work products
• Track work products in a specific products in a specific program to detect
deviations and mismatches
SOLUTION CONCEPT
• Develop a software capable to track identifiers, which represent MPT
(Methods, Procedures and Tools) about work products.
• It will collect and analyze Meta-data, to develop analysis routines to find
reconciliation loops due to inconsistent inputs earlier in the chain
• This software will help to track workflow and perform In-Process Testing
at smaller intervals and utilize Archive for all the Metadata storage.
