This document provides an overview of contingency contracting as part of applied behavior analysis. It defines key concepts like permanent products, treatment packages, self-management, and delayed reinforcement. Contingency contracting, also called a behavioral contract, establishes the contingent relationship between a behavior and reinforcer in writing and with all parties' agreement. The contract should specify the behavior, individual, when it occurs, the individual's skills, evidence of the behavior, the reward, and who will collect behavior data and when. An example contract is then provided that aims to reduce a child's drawing on walls by providing an art supply reward for not engaging in the behavior each day as measured by her father collecting daily data.
