Analysts International Corp., Schaumburg, IL 1983-Present
A Consulting Company providing services to clients in the Chicago area.
Consultant
Client engagements included:

Navistar International 1993-present
•Defined and delivered as analyst / developer, Z/OS Cobol EDI 866 order processing to convert
future weekly requirements into daily requirements and processing instructions. This provided
suppliers with enough lead time to provide assemblies and reduce materials shortages by 30%. for
   the affected vendors ;
•Created and completed as analyst / developer, innovative solution to process interplant order
processing using a supplier parameter table. This approach slashed development costs by $20,000
and development time by 30 days for each new interplant supplier. The $2,000 support costs for
adding a new interplant supplier were eliminated. The development was done with Z/OS Cobol,
   Sort/Join utility, and Jcl.
•Critical resource as analyst / developer on highest priority commercial strategic supply chain and
manufacturing project . This provided flexibility in the ordering and assembly of modules of a truck at
8 plants with a cost savings of 20% for each truck. ; 42 mainframe jobs involving over 100
mainframe Z/OS Cobol programs including 3 with DB2, and 200 utility steps had to be analyzed
and modified to handle unique processing of the new module order data at each of the 8 ordering
plants. Also developed a generic MQSeries 'Get' program using Z/OS Cobol and Assembler
   language to replace Ftp's.
•Critical resource as analyst / developer on highest priority military project to provide Dpas / Cpsr
rating on government orders. Benefits were that Navistar was in compliance of government
regulations, would not be at risk of fines, and could continue to produce mine resistant vehicles.
Navistar has annual military sales of $2,000,000,000 and 20,000 military contracts to date. Analysis
involved changing the mainframe EDI 830 Cobol copylib layout to handle multiple occurrences of a
part within a supplier with appropriate order quantities per rating. 20 jcl jobs and 30 Z/OS Cobol
programs including 2 with DB2 had to be modified to handle the revised edi 830 order data. The
design allowed for a phased in implementation when vendors were ready for the rated edi 830.
•Achieved major revamp of legacy service parts contract maintenance application. The increased
reliability of contract data saved Navistar $50,000 a year in support costs; More than 30 major
system problems were identified in the Z/OS Cobol processing and were fixed in priority order.
•Collaborated with EDW team as analyst / developer to accumulate history of data related to
changes in ordered parts. Provided EDW team with table characteristics they needed to generate the
ETL. OBIE and Tableau tools were developed to allow upper management to analyze scenarios
which caused parts ordered from vendor to differ from original order. Business processes are
continually changed based on these metrics to reduce materials shortages resulting in $120,000
annual savings. The development involved about 20 new nightly batch jobs with about 12 Z/OS
Cobol batch programs. Created the initial Tableau statistical graph charts that were used to present
the concept to the supply chain.
•Resurrected an IMS Bill of Material from historical data to meet NAFTA legal requirements to
determine foreign versus domestic content. Failure to produce this data would have resulted in a
$3,000,000 fine. This was developed using CobolII, IMS, DB2, and Mvs Jcl.
•Developed CICS application to generate truck order coding batch transactions based on Order
   Coding DB2 tables.
•Developed CICS programs to invoke a software application called PRS. PRS was developed by
Navistar and similar in concept to MQSeries.
•Created innovative solution as analyst / designer to remove limitations of an IMS Reward database.
One of the IMS segments only provided for one occurrence within it's parent part. A new stock station
field was needed which necessitated multiple occurences of the segment. About 50 CobolII
programs performed various calls to the IMS segment and it's children. Designed DB2 tables to
handle the multiple occurence segment data. Wrote a CobolII DB2 subroutine to handle the cases
where there were multiple occurences of stock station. The input to the DB2 subroutine was similar to
a DL/I call using same segment layouts. The DB2 logic handled gets, inserts, replaces, deletes
syncpoints, rollbacks, error handling, and passing back appropriate sql error messages. This saved
Navistar the costs and risks of redesigning the IMS database and minimized the program changes
needed. Extensive testing and support were provided to achieve this.
•Designed and developed ongoing comprehensive tire assembly system to generate processing
instructions for vendors. This processing involved approximately 30 DB2 tables. The business rules
dictated tire placement and quantity, rim paint, and valve stems. An audit trail was generated to
minimize time spent on support issues.
•As developer created service recall system for Vehicle Electronics using DB2 and IMS DB/DC. This
consisted of 7 IMS transactions to select vehicles subject to recall based on keys such as model,
plant, and various floating point parameter values. A batch version of the service recall system was
   also produced for testing.

•Performed major CobolII development of complex commercial insurance applications to meet
mandated rate and surcharge rules. Affected lines were package policies and fidelity and crime.
•Created project time entry system written with CobolII and Ispf Dialog Manager used by 50 project
     team members.
