• Small oval leaves, dark green 
• Glands on petiole 
• Serrated leaves 
• Spur shoots grab clothes and skin 
• Small dark red or purple fruit 
• White flowers form round clusters 
• Silhouette similar to chokecherry, mahogany, 
serviceberry
Ecology 
• Found in Southern Oregon and Northern 
California, especially in Klamath and Lake 
counties 
• Widespread in our area in canyons, roadsides, 
hills, and forests 
• Forms dense thickets 
• Great browse and habitat for deer and elk 
• Plums eaten by birds and variety of mammals 
including raccoons and bears 
• Plums make excellent jam
