Serviceberry is a large shrub or small tree common in hills and canyons of the area. It has small round leaves with serrated edges and produces white claw-like flowers in early spring, as well as edible huckleberry-like berries marked with flower remains. The plant provides important browse for elk and deer, and its berries are favored by bears and birds like cedar waxwings.
