6. Service Design – The Comforting ED Suite
Focus
• Development of a concept for the The Comforting ED Suite
• Full-scale prototype in the shape of a new patient suite at
the emergency ward as a proof of concept
7. Innovative Procurement
• A possibility for public organisations to promote innovation
and growth – the new hospitals is one such possibility
Basic challenges:
•EU law – actual innovative procurement processes and
PPP is diffecult
•A lack of a complete economic overview over the
complete cost-benifits
(Costs are often in one part of the organisation and the benifits in another – the silo problem)
•Procurement from SMEs – capacity and security
•Dialogue on needs and posibilities between end user and
procurement office, user involvement in all phases.
8. Value creation
• Demands a new way of thinking when doing procurement – and less
focus on detailed control
• Demands that you are aware and can define your needs and wishes
• Demands that you pick either smaller areas or themes for innovative
procurement – or a complete services is politically selected as an area
to be developed through innovative procurement. (Service concept
with Control on Deliveries and not Processes.)
9. Rehabiliation robot ”Robert”

Editor's Notes
The new hospital is placed in the middle
A part of the hospital will be placed at the existing hospital for some years (at least 10 years)
The picture shows what the area will look like in 2030:
To the south a new Psychiatric hospital will be build
To the north SUND – integration with Aalborg University – will be build along with buildings for the functions which stays at the existing hospital for some years (Oncology and Out-patient building)
The hospital will be approximately 160.000 square meters
It will cost 4,59 bill. Danish kroner to build (indeks dags dato – 4,1 bill. Danish kroner i 2012)
We will use existing buildings for app. 10 years before the functions which are placed there will be moved to the new location
Facts:
444 standard beds (+ 32 at existing buildings – Oncology)
60 emergency beds (FAM)
50 intensive care beds
30 intermediary beds
117 rooms for out patients (+ app. 100 in existing buildings)
32 operating theaters
46 diagnostics rooms (MR, CT, x-ray, PET/CT, SPECT/CT etc.)
