In the framework of the ARCHIVER pre-commercial procurement tender, between December 2020 and August 2021 three consortia worked on innovative, prototype solutions for Long-term data preservation, in close collaboration with CERN, EMBL-EBI, DESY and PIC. The selection process for proceeding to the next phase is over and the consortium/a selected to continue with the pilot phase were officially announced at a public ceremony on the 29th of November 2021

These ideas were narrowed down to 12 high potential opportunities, which were further refined into 2 new application concepts (NABC projects). One such opportunity identified building floor and wall heating as a promising x million euro business opportunity in the US alone. The study helped define Henkel's strategy to partner with flooring and building material companies to integrate PTC ink-based heating systems and create new revenue streams from this technology.

The HNSciClou Project - Bob Jones

The HNSciCloud Project is a pre-commercial procurement action funded by the EU Horizon 2020 Framework Programme to develop a hybrid cloud model. A group of research organizations and publicly funded e-infrastructures have committed procurement funds, staff resources, use cases, and in-house IT assets totaling over 5 million euros. The resulting cloud services will be made available to end-users across many research communities through a pre-commercial procurement process that brings together research organizations, data providers, cloud services, and commercial providers in a hybrid cloud model suitable for the dynamic cloud market.

The HNSciCloud project is a joint pre-commercial procurement project between several European research organizations to procure innovative cloud services. Over 1.6M€ in procurement funds and additional resources have been committed to develop integrated infrastructure-as-a-service cloud platforms that combine commercial and public cloud services. The goal is to provide cost-effective, reliable cloud resources and federating capabilities to support the full lifecycle of scientific workflows and applications for European research communities. An open market consultation will be held in March 2016 to present the project and procurement to cloud service providers.

The project APPOLO, currently active in the Seventh Framework programme, launches an Open Call for assessment experiments with new laser processing equipment for emerging manufacturing technologies based on ultra-short pulse (sub-ns). The about two year running experiments aim at validation of the technologies needed for large and global markets. The equipment should be tested for the selected technological process in close-to industrial environment using the assessment service of laser application laboratories around Europe joined to APPOLO HUB. Validation will be performed in close collaboration between equipment supplier, end-user and an application laboratory connected to the APPOLO HUB. The new laser assessment experiments should provide business relevant technical investigations and demonstrate applicability of the new equipment for industrial applications.
