Jesus asks his disciples who people say he is and who they say he is. Peter replies that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus tells Peter that flesh and blood did not reveal this to him, but his Father in heaven. Jesus says he will build his church on this rock and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. Jesus then tells the disciples he must suffer and die in Jerusalem but be raised on the third day. When Peter objects, Jesus rebukes him and says he is setting his mind on human rather than Godly things. Jesus tells his disciples that if they want to follow him, they must deny themselves, take up their cross, and lose their life for his sake
