EMPLOYMENT SUMMARY
2004-2014: Tourism Development Officer – Economic Development and Tourism Services, City of St.
Catharines.
Wide range of responsibilities and initiatives including – preparation of City's tourism strategy position;
business development and attraction; market research and analysis; industry/client support; community
and industry consultation; sport and special event funding program development and administration;
represent City's interests on a variety of committees and forums; preparation of reports to Council and
stakeholders on tourism related and other departmental initiatives.
Key Accomplishments:
• St.Catharines Destination Marketing Fee generated approximately $350k per year in additional
destination marketing impacts for the City from 2006 to 2014.
• Sport Tourism Grant support to sports events that generated overnight stays in the City. From
September 2008 to January 2014 documented $13M economic impact (using STEAM)
• Managed initial study into feasibility and concept for new spectator facility (Meridian Center)
that informed Spectator Facility Taskforce. Indicated costs and impacts of that study appear to
be closely in line with performance of project to date.
• Prepared St. Catharines Tourism Strategy - Majority of recommendations have been realized.
• Extensive and long term involvement in a variety of cultural development initiatives and
programs in St. Catharines. Including active role in city Culture Committee since 2005; St.
Catharines Festivals and Events Policy and Grant supported local events linked to marketing and
potential for economic impacts; (Marylin I Walker) Performing Arts Center Taskforce; Culture in
Niagara website working group. Firmly believe the growth of the cultural/creative sector is a
key to the future prosperity and sustainability of St. Catharines as an attractor and generator of
new businesses and investment.

Tourism Queensland.
As policy officer provided whole of State tourism and policy advice; involved in relocation of Planning,
Policy and Development from (then) Dept. of Tourism Small Business and Tourism to Tourism
Queensland; inter agency and industry consultation, Ministerial and Government obligations and advice.
As Destination Developer for City of Brisbane, Southern and Western Downs provided support to
Destinations and municipalities within those Destinations regarding various attraction development
projects.

Brisbane, South East Queensland Country and the Western Downs.
