Choirokoitia is an archaeological site on Cyprus dating back to the Neolithic age that has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998. It is one of the most important and best preserved prehistoric sites in the eastern Mediterranean, showing evidence of an organized, communal settlement surrounded by fortifications from the Neolithic aceramic period around 7,000 BC. The site provides insight into one of over 20 similar early settlements found across Cyprus from this era.
