Nik Shepheard, founder of Kiteboard for Life Australia, gives presentations on depression to raise awareness and reduce stigma. His presentations cover recognizing symptoms of depression, seeking help, and how exercise like kiteboarding can help manage it. We were very fortunate to have Nik as a guest on
“The Locker Room” a radio program that airs on
Mornington Community Radio. Nik provided an
honest and insightful account of his own personal
battles with depression, which unfortunately affects
so many Australians, whilst also detailing plans for the
proposed trip and the reasons why he believed Kite
boarding had assisted him in dealing with the illness.
I would personally have no hesitation in recommending
Nik to anyone seeking his services for public speaking
engagements in relation to these subjects.

VMR Mornington Volunteer Marine Rescue was very
fortunate and thankful to have Nik Shepherd from
Kiteboard for Life Australia deliver an excellent
presentation to our operational members. This
presentation provided the essential knowledge on
kiteboarding and kite handling safety as well as
introducing depression as a topic of conversation.
This was very well received by our members and we
attribute this to the excellent manner and approach
the Nic used. The professionally of the presentation
and the way Nic was able to engage everyone was
very impressive.

Kiteboard For Life Australia (KFLA) was the charity that
Kite Republic raffle was supporting and although the
night was all about fun, a social night out, and being
social it was outstanding to see the respect and interest
of the crowd when KFLA founder Nik Shepheard took
the stage in a bid to raise awareness about Depression
& Suicide prevention in the community.
