Michigan State University — East Lansing, MI
Secretary II (MSU Neuroscience Program), 2012 – Present
Provide undergraduate administrative support to the Undergraduate Program Director, Dr. Laura
Symonds, during the launch of MSU’s new undergraduate major in Neuroscience; research answers to
administrator and student questions; communicate policy and procedure information to students; provide
overrides and enrollments into NEU courses; assist students with course planning and scheduling.
Key Results:
Review student requests for overrides, verify pre-requisites by accessing student ESAF records,
communicate override request determination (e.g. denied, approved, under review, etc.), provide
necessary overrides, and enroll students in NEU core courses.
Advise neuroscience undergraduate majors regarding course planning, scheduling, programs, and
obtaining overrides.
Utilize the RO Online Forms Menu, SIS, and MSU Schedule of Courses to answer student
questions and assist with course planning and scheduling.
Construct a one-page curriculum guide, sample course “path,” and brochure for departmental use
in recruitment, AOP, Marathon of Majors, and general program information to prospective
students.
Provide online instructional support to the NEU 301 and NEU 302 D2L course sites, including

Administrative Assistant II (MSU Honors College), 2011 - 2012
Worked with senior management to recruit top students for prestigious national and international
scholarship competitions; created online and electronic scholarship student documentation and information
databases; maintained the scholarship winner’s database for senior level administrators.
Key Results:
Played a key role in ensuring the successful launch of NIFS website. Developed and maintained
online data collection forms and databases, content maintenance, and foundation information
accuracy.
Maintained social media sites and utilized them for advertising, recruiting potential scholarship
applicants, press release distribution, and other communication purposes.
Coordinated information sessions, selection / review committee meetings, and scholarship
competition interviews for each scholarship. Developed, edited, and maintained scholarship
information, selection / review committee itineraries, interview itineraries, and results
communication for each scholarship.
Accounting Clerk II (MSU Sociology Department), 2007 – 2011
Assisted Sociology administrators with the financial and human resource management of the department;
reconciled all department accounts, encumbered revenue and expenses using MSU specific finance and
human resource software; recruited, interviewed, trained, and terminated student and on-call applicants;
processed and reconciled payroll for faculty, staff, temporary, on-call, and student employees; updated
and maintained the Sociology website; and acted as faculty, staff, and customer liaison as needed.
Key Results:
Assisted Sociology Chairperson with year-end budget meetings and budget adjustments, staff
supervision and development, and the day-to-day functions of the department during the absence
of an Office Supervisor II (04/2008 – 07/2008; 05/2009 – 09/2009).
Trained and oriented new student employees regarding MSU financial and human resource policies
and procedures. At the point of separation, I provided each student employee with a
model resume – complete with education, work experience, and accomplishments – to take with
them to their next position.
Adopted electronic timesheet from Epidemiology for Sociology hourly employees resulting in the
elimination of paper timesheet processing which supported MSU’s “go green” initiative to be
paperless by 2015.
Volunteered to update and maintain the Sociology website during the medical leave of the website
administrator. Department faculty and administration approved an initiative to leave website
maintenance responsibilities with my position based on the proficiency of website maintenance
during the original administrator’s leave.
Volunteered lunch hours to train a co-worker, whose position was being eliminated, on using MS
PowerPoint, MS Publisher, MS Excel, and other MSU specific computer programs to increase her
eligibility for union placement on campus.
Utilized my knowledge and experience of MSU financial policies and procedures to bring Sociology’s
accounting records up to date within three months of employment with the unit.
Accounting Clerk II (MSU Epidemiology Department), 2006 – 2007
Assisted Epidemiology faculty and administrators with pre- and post-award administration of NIH, NSF,
state, local, and foundation grants and contracts; direct supervisor to all Epidemiology student employees;
assisted international faculty, post-doc fellows, research assistants, and employees obtain proper VISA
status to conduct work in the United States and at Michigan State University; processed payroll for all
Epidemiology hourly employees via MSU specific electronic payroll processing program; and acted as faculty,
staff, student, and customer liaison as needed.
Key Results:
Created a “new employee checklist” for Epidemiology staff to provide new employees personalized
guidance and information based on their individual circumstances. Regardless of job position, all
Epidemiology staff members could advise new employees of hiring matters based on one document.
