This document discusses the history and ranks of martial arts. It focuses on four great grandmasters: Byung In Yoon, Chul Hee Park, Hwa Chong, and Carl Stolberg. It describes how each grandmaster studied under and succeeded the previous, spreading their martial arts teachings and influence throughout Korea and the United States over the 20th century.

2. In Martial Arts there is certain belt ranks in which help separate when working on forms for testing. This helps to tell how far a student is in their training. And How much more they have to work.

4. Great Grandmaster Byung In Yoon as a youth was a student learning Chuan Fa in Manchuria, China in the 1930's. In 1937 he went to Japan to be educated at the Nihon University. While at the University he participated in an exchange with Toyama Kanken where Mr. Yoon received rank in Shudokon. After WWII, Mr. Yoon taught Kwon Bup in Korea until the Korean War. It was during the Korean war that Mr. Yoon became a POW. He was unable to return to South Korea and remained in North Korea until his death in 1983.
