Katie was inducted into the Sigma Psi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa while attending Southwestern Michigan College. To be invited to membership in Phi Theta Kappa, Katie Nimtz earned high academic standing with a class rank in the top 10%. Phi Theta Kappa requires members to maintain high academic standing for the duration of enrollment at the two-year college. Phi Theta Kappa was established in 1918 by two-year college presidents. The Society’s mission is two-fold: 1) to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and 2) provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership and service programming. Membership in the Society reflects scholarship, discipline, determination, and an innate desire to succeed. Active involvement demonstrates servant leadership, communication skills, and emerging leadership talent.
