The Canon House is a small townhouse developed, de-
signs designed by Entasis Architects in Copenhagen.
The Canon House is situated among former workshop
buildings for fabrication of weapons. Honest buildings with
insitu cast concrete constructions cladded with red bricks.
The Canon House contains Entasis´ office at ground floor.
First floor is for rent - for officepurpose. Table by table or
the whole lot.
The 3 upper levels contain 5 apartments. Where the 2
lower levels for office are protected from the sun be the
very close vicinity of the neighbor buildings, the facades
and volume of the apartments are stepped back giving
distance to the neighbors opening to the sky and sun.
The construction is casted in situ in self compacting con-
crete. The surface is sanded by handwork. The result is
heavily reducing the shine of the concrete into dusty grey
nuances. Not unlike the works of Hammershøi (Danish
painter 1864 – 1916).
The concrete is cladded with red homogeneous bricks
with red joints. The bricks are laid in a strong horizontal
relief towards south and west, and a more subtle but still
horizontal relief towards east and west. The horizontal ori-
entation is underlining the vertical lines. And the nearness
to the harbor basins and the see seems obvious to quote
in detail.
Inside the contrast to the rough grey toned concrete
walls and ceilings is given by oak floors, bringing a warm
luminance to the picture. Large curtains in wool and doors
from floor to ceiling underline the greatness of the modern
dynamic spaces.

First floor is an office space made for open
space use for 20-25 people. The space and plan
is similar to the one at ground level where Enta-
sis reside with a few changes:
1) There is brighter day light as the floor is
one level up letting the skylight in.
2) The floor plan is + 15 m2 compared to the
ground floor
3) The height to the ceiling is 3.3 meter.
Entasis will now rent out the office space as:
a) One space for one company
b) Two open spaces for two companies
c) Table by table.
We hope to find tenants that appreciate the

The Apartments of the Canon House are for the few
who are looking for a private space with an unique
ambience. Our aim has been to create a rich and
intense interior, where every detail is important and
closely choreographed into a modern “gesamtkunst-
werk”.
The entrance to the house is everything but the
white cold space that you normally find in modern
buildings, totally ignoring our claim of the cozy
Copenhagen atmosphere. Instead you find a space
in dimmed light, an extraordinary height to the
ceiling, jade green tiles from Morocco and a black
painted steel stair with a green carpet combing hard
and soft. The idea is that you feel “at home” when
entering the house, and not only when you enter the
apartment.
Inside the apartments you find no white and dull
surfaces, but concrete, wood, tiles, giant mirrors
and textile rich in texture and surface. And you find
surprisingly view and amount of sky in this very new
and dense neighborhood.

a new high end neighborhood
The Canon House is the first of three new buildings with
in the small, green, intimate and cozy block of in the new
Aarhusgade City District.
Aarhusgade City Distict
Copenhagens new high end neighborhood is at same time
an extension of Easterbro and a unique new part of the
Copenhagen Harbor line. For the first time in 100 years
the planners, investors and architects succeed in creating
the ambience of “City” leaving the misunderstandings of
the modernistic planning behind. At Aarhusgade you find
the density needed for city life. You find the right mixture
of offices and residentials. And most important you will find
a unique and ambitious plan for retail, restaurants and
culture in an 11.000 m2 open mall where you will find clas-
sical shops as baker, slaughter and florist. The ambition is
to reach the full liveliness of Torvehallerne at Israels Plads
in inner city. Part of the strategy is to open more restau-
rants: in the streets and one on the top of The Silo. Finally
a luxurious cinema will open in 2-3 years.

25. The Aarhusgade City District is gifted with a new rec-
reative south oriented boardwalk where you can relax,
swim, run or rent a kayak. The shops and restaurants will
primarily be oriented towards Aarhusgade. And we will add
a green inner garden, private but open for the public in our
small block.
26. The public transport to Aarhusgade City District is flaw-
less. Towards west the district is defined by Nordhavn
Station with a 100% network on busses and trains. In 2
years the metro line will be opened at the feet of our small
block. And the harbor bus will most likely also appear.
Cars are parked at protected parking houses topped with
a playground with a spectacular view over the sea.
The Red Block consists by old workshop buildings, where
AP Moller in the past produced weapons for export. The
old workshop buildings consists all of construction cast in
concrete, cladded with red bricks with the important and
delicate detail that also the joint is red. The 3 new build-
ings of the block continue in the same track of materials,
but add a subtle modern architectural language. The Can-
on House is the first of the three new buildings.
These red buildings stand in a green recreative landscape
with a mild micro climate: No wind – but calmness. Light
trees, perennials, small fountains will frame two café´s
where people chat and read the newspaper. The inner
garden is also a discrete passage leading from the Metro
Plaza to the Board Walk at the dock. This will be imple-
mented within 2-2½ years.
