9. Three main challenges:
An autonomous trajectory. This is tricky as by definition
the ‘sign of the times’, the identifier of a moment can
take care of its autonomous self. However for it not
only to become visible through its material
manifestations that we can recognize as desigers and
users, we have to grasp it in the very act of
transformation.
10. Us now
What happens when web 2.0 design strategies start not only
networking the peripheral but the critical functions, such as end users –
us - deciding for themselves how they want to spend their tax money in
participatory budgetting? Can web 2.0 strategies handle critical
functions?
11. The fundamental change that we are facing in pervasive computing
and the converging trend towards smart environments is the
deliberate attempt of a technology to disappear as technology,
becoming the very articulation and a priori of the space of flows,
identifying, mapping, and pro-actively implying identities
transposed into a hybrid grid of analogue and digital territories.
This means that Sein-Tun holds no viable discriminatory opposition
any more that gives the one more formative power than the other.
12. To put it provokingly;
“makers”, theatre makers are
the only ones left upholding
the idea that there is a space
left that has meaningful
relationships with the real.
13. And as such are they currently
not the objective allies of the
security projects that too claim
a space for “testing”, oh no not
on the real world?
14. But as the two are not
informing each other one
should stop for a while.
15.
16. To make a moratorium on
make belief? To merge for
real, become incidental
persons in the digital age?
17. Which depends on how
serious we believe the
situation is. I believe it is
explosive, but I am naive,
prone to exaggeration and
worry too much.
18. Usman Haque showes with Pachube that it is no longer key
relevant if a space is real, virtual, in between or potential.
In such an environment, - a truly magic one - people
themselves become information spaces. Building, cars and
people become information spaces.”

20. “As I mentioned in an earlier mail this was an event organized by the Pasto government
in order to reunite shamans from all over Colombia and Latin America.
One comment made by some of the indigenous elders that had already had the
experience of writing up documents and even presenting them to organization like the
UN, was that in the end they had not served for much and what was most important was
that the event repeat itself so that the networking process between the tribes could
continue....
We drove back to Pasto and Taita Domingo who got a lift with us said - Hey its important
to drink yage once in a while - We see white people, they change the oil in their cars
every six months, but they forget to change the oil in their bodies! We just changed our
oil!” Vanessa Goksch aka Pata de Perro
