CASE SCENARIO
BB&T Corporation, headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is among the nation’s top financial holding companies, with $186 billion in assets. Its bank subsidiaries operate approximately 1,800 financial centers in twelve states and Washington, D.C. BB&T’s operating strategy distinguishes it from other financial holding companies. BB&T’s banking subsidiaries are organized as a group of community banks, each with a regional president, which allows decisions to be made locally, close to the client. This also makes BB&T’s client service more responsive, reliable, and empathetic. Typically, the bank tellers’ tasks include:
· Balancing currency, coin, and checks in cash drawers at the end of each shift, and calculating daily transactions using computers, calculators, or adding machines
· Cashing checks and paying out money after verifying that signatures are correct, that written and numerical amounts agree, and that accounts have sufficient funds
· Receiving checks and cash for deposit, verifying amounts, and checking the accuracy of deposit slips
· Examining checks for endorsements and to verify other information such as dates, bank names, identification of the persons receiving payments, and the legality of the documents
· Entering customers’ transactions into computers to record transactions and issue computer-generated receipts
· Counting currency, coins, and checks received, either by hand or using a currency-counting machine, to prepare them for deposit or shipment to branch banks or the Federal Reserve Bank
· Preparing and verifying cashier’s checks
· Sorting and filing deposit slips and checks
· Ordering a supply of cash to meet daily needs
· Receiving and counting daily inventories of cash drafts and travelers’ checks

Digital Signals & Access to Finance in Kenya - slidesUN Global Pulse
In emerging markets, eight out of ten small businesses cannot access the loans they need to grow. USAID’s Development Credit Authority (DCA) uses risk-sharing agreements to mobilize local private capital to fill this financing gap. The goal of this collaboration between UN Global Pulse and USAID is to explore how big data could support the work of USAID’s Development Credit Authority.
Kenya has become an established tech leader in Africa in recent years – generating greater volumes of digital data as a result. The goal of this study is to explore what new sources of digital data, and methods for analysis, could be helpful in answering the question: “What barriers to accessing loans do small businesses in Kenya face?”
Accordingly, this presentation paints a picture of the big data landscape in Kenya, shows preliminary findings, and lays the groundwork for further investigation.

Consumers Buying Behaviors’ Loans and Credits: A SituationerIJAEMSJORNAL
This study aimed to describe the situation of the consumers buying behaviors loans’ and credits with the use of descriptive research design. The researchers found out that micro–financing business or lending institutions and private individuals are credit service providers of the respondents. The types of loan and credit they avail are investment loan or business loan which is worth more than Php 100,000 and consumer credit amounting to less than Php 20,000. Loans can provide their needs, they do not have stable source of income, their salary are not enough, they want to buy gadgets, apparels and vehicles are the main reasons why the respondents avail loans and credits. On the other hand, long process of approval, time to repayment of maturity date and high interest rate are problems encountered by the respondents in availing credit services. Complex–buying and habitual–buying are the consumer behaviors manifested by the respondents.

Scenario
You are an employee at D&B Investigations, a firm that contracts with individuals, companies, and government agencies to conduct computer forensics investigations. D&B employees are expected to observe the following tenets, which the company views as the foundation for its success:
· Give concerted attention to clients’ needs and concerns.
· Follow proper procedures and stay informed about legal issues.
· Maintain the necessary skill set to apply effective investigative techniques using the latest technologies.
Your manager has just scheduled a meeting with an important prospective client, and she has asked you to be part of the team that is preparing for the meeting. The prospective client is Brendan Oliver, a well-known celebrity. Last night, Mr. Oliver’s public relations team discovered that someone obtained three photos that were shot on his smartphone, and tried to sell the photos to the media. Due to the sensitive nature of the photos, Mr. Oliver and his team have not yet contacted law enforcement. They would like to know if D&B can provide any guidance or support related to the investigation—or, at the very least, if D&B can help them prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. At this time, they do not know how the photos were acquired. The public relations team is wondering if a friend, family member, or employee could have gained direct access to Mr. Oliver’s phone and obtained the photos that way, although the phone is usually locked with a passcode when Mr. Oliver is not using it. In addition, Mr. Oliver emailed the photos to one other person several months ago. He has not spoken with that person in the last few weeks, but he does not believe that person would have shared the photos with anyone else.
Your manager plans to use this initial meeting with Mr. Oliver and his public relations team to establish rapport, learn more about the case, and demonstrate the firm’s expertise. The company sees this as an opportunity to build future business, regardless of whether they are retained to help with the investigation of this case.
Tasks
To help the team prepare for the meeting, your manager asks you (and your colleagues) to consider and record your responses the following questions:
· What is the nature of the alleged crime, and how does the nature of the crime influence a prospective investigation?
· Based on the limited information provided in the scenario, what is the rationale for launching an investigation that uses computer forensic activities? Would D&B and/or law enforcement need
· additional information in order to determine if they should proceed with an investigation? Why or why not?
· What would you share with the client about how investigators prepare for and conduct a computer forensics investigation? Identify three to five key points that are most relevant to this case.
· What sources of evidence would investigators likely examine in this case? Provide concrete examples and explain your rationale.

I. INTRODUCTION
A. Purpose of Document
This paper1 was designed to accompany the Model Policy on
Social Media established by the IACP National Law Enforcement
Policy Center. This paper provides essential background materi-
al and supporting documentation to impart greater understand-
ing of the developmental philosophy and implementation
requirements for the model policy. This material will be of value
to law enforcement executives in their efforts to tailor the model
policy to the requirements and the circumstances of their com-
munities and their law enforcement agencies.
B. Background
Personal Internet access has grown exponentially over the last
decade, facilitating the growth in popularity of the World Wide
Web and, more recently, social media. For the purpose of this dis-
cussion paper, social media is defined as a category of Internet-
based resources that integrate user-generated content and user
participation. Social media tools have become synonymous with
popular culture and new waves of personal communication.
People of all ages and organizations of all types are using these
tools like never before.
Social media has many uses for government agencies includ-
ing law enforcement agencies. The characteristics of community
collaboration and interactive communication that are at the core
of social media, lend directly to the core of democratic culture,
and allow for positive community interaction and effective deliv-
ery of services. Community policing, investigations, and other
strategic initiatives can all be enhanced with the effective use of
social media.
The increase in personal social media usage across demo-
graphics also means that more and more law enforcement per-
sonnel are engaging in these tools on a personal level. Misuse of
social media can lead to harsh consequences for both the indi-
vidual and his or her agency.
The IACP Model Policy on Social Media was established in order
to assist law enforcement agencies in developing appropriate
procedures and guidelines for both official department use of
social media tools as well as personal use by agency employees.
The purpose of this discussion paper is to educate law enforce-
ment managers and executives on the uses and abuses of social
media. As the age of technology continues to expand, the use of
social media should be supervised closely in order to ensure eth-
ical, effective, and lawful police applications.
C. Policy Development
In response to the rise in use of social media, police depart-
ments should draft and implement policies that regulate social
media use among employees, as well as determine proper and
effective department use. The model social media policy was
developed to establish an agency’s position on the utility and
management of social media tools as well as provide guidelines
for personal usage of social media for agency personnel.
As noted above, many of the legal issues surrounding social
media have not yet been settled in the court sy.
AutoCorp A Competitive Coup in the In‐Flight Magazine .docxikirkton
AutoCorp
A Competitive Coup in the In‐Flight Magazine
When the manager for market intelligence of AutoCorp, a major automotive manufacturer,
boarded the plane in Chicago, her mind was on shrinking market share and late product
announcements. As she settled back to enjoy the remains of a hectic day, she reached for the
in‐flight magazine. It was jammed into the seat pocket in front of her.
Crammed into this already tiny space was a report with a competitor’s logo, marked
“Confidential—Restricted Circulation.” It contained a description of new product
announcements for the next two years. Not only was it intended for a small circle of senior
executives, but it also answered the questions she had recently proposed to an external
research firm.
The proposal for the solicited research could be canceled. Her research budget, already
savaged, could be saved. She was home free, legally and career‐wise.
She foresaw only one problem. In the last few months, AutoCorp’s newly hired ethicist had
revised the firm’s Business Conduct Guidelines. They now required company employees in
possession of a competitor’s information to return it or face dismissal. But it was still a draft
and not formally approved. She had the rest of the flight to decide whether to return the
document to the airline or slip it into her briefcase.
In your submission please address all of the following questions:
1. What do you consider to be the key ethical areas for consideration in this scenario? Be
specific, what research principles or values are (potentially) violated by certain actions
or inactions?
2. Does the use of “found” resources violate any ethical principles? If so, what principles in
particular come into play when considering whether to use “found” information or not?
3. In what ways can the manager impact the ethical culture of her department or her
company by her decision to use or not use the found material?
4. What do you think the manager should do? What are the personal and professional
implications of her possible decisions, even if there is no violation of law or regulation?

The High Cost of Organizational Change
It was his first year of college teaching, and there were no summer teaching assignments for
new hires. But the university was kind enough to steer him to an aviation firm, Avionics Inc.,
which needed help creating an organizational assessment survey. The assignment was to last
five weeks, but it paid about the same as teaching all summer. The work was just about as
perfect as it gets for an organizational behavior specialist. Avionics Inc.’s vice president, whom
he met the first day, was cordial and smooth. The researcher would report to a senior manager
who was coordinating the project with the human resources and legal departments.

The case for social media management and archivingActiance, Inc.
Social media offers a number of important benefits to both users and organizations that maintain a social media presence. For example, users benefit from the use of social media by having a ready source of current information, being able to share views, and partnering with like-minded individuals. Organizations benefit by building a following among current and prospective customers, gaining competitive advantage by being perceived as thought leaders, and sharing information in ways that would not otherwise be possible using conventional communication channels. Despite the many benefits of social media for both users and organizations, there are two primary risks associated with it:
• Users can send business records, confidential information or racially or sexually offensive content using social media tools in violation of the law, legal best practice or corporate policies.
• Users can generate content using social media that needs to be preserved according to corporate and regulatory retention requirements – but often is not.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
2. Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
a. differentiate valid and reliable from counterfeit
b. identify valid and reliable statements and sources;
c. judge the validity of the evidence presented to; and
d. appreciate the importance of validity and reliability in
assessing any evidence listened to.
3. Validity/Valid
refers to the soundness and strength of argument
• According to Oxford Language dictionary defines
validity as the quality or being factually sound; the
state of being legally or officially binding or
acceptable.
Examples of valid sources:
Books
Journal articles
Published reports
4. • Consistently good in quality or performance; able to be
trusted.
• The quality of being able to be trusted to do what
somebody wants or needs.
Example of reliable sources:
The text of the law is better than reading a social media
post that a citizen wrote that talks about the law
Reliability/Reliable
that may be relied on or trusted
5. • The quality that somebody/something has that makes
people believe or trust them.
Example of credible sources:
Academic journals are often a great place to find
trustworthy and credible content, and are considered one
of the most reliable sources you can use in academic
writing.
Credibility/Credible
the quality of being believable or worthy of trust

7. Guide Questions
1. Which of the two statements may gain your
favor? That of Juan or Marites? State your
reasons
2. What are the specific factors that make
your chosen statement more valid or reliable?
8. As technology has become commercialized and everyone can
create and upload various information on the internet, validity
and reliability of those can be compromised and misleading.
Here are some points that we should take into consideration to
check the validity and reliability of information:
1.Who is the author of the source?
This question points out the credentials of the author. Is he or she
a recognized expert in the field? Are they representing an
organization? If so, what is the organization's mission and goals? If
you're still unsure, try browsing the internet on the author or the
organization he or she belongs.
2. How did the source get its information?
This question refers to references used in the source. Look at a few
of the references. Do they look like reliable sources of information?
Does it look like the author is citing the source correctly? Use your
best judgment in validating. (.gov, .org, .edu, etc.)

This question pertains to further checking the validity of the source.
See if you can fact-check the information in other ways. For instance,
if you're looking at a news article that quotes experts in a field,
browse the internet on the expert's name and see what other
