A highly decorated public official, Paul Seeman has received numerous honors and awards throughout his career, including the Wilmont Sweeney Award for California Juvenile Court Judge of the Year in 2009.

2. INTRODUCTION
• A graduate of Boalt Hall, the Berkeley Law School at the University
of California, Paul Seeman spent more than three decades as an
attorney, court commissioner, and judge. A highly decorated public
official, Paul Seeman has received numerous honors and awards
throughout his career, including the Wilmont Sweeney Award for
California Juvenile Court Judge of the Year in 2009.
Presented annually by the Juvenile Court Judges of California, a
section of the California Judges Association, the Wilmont Sweeney
Award honors a juvenile court judge who exhibits dedication and
innovative approaches to working with the youth of California.

3. WILMONT SWEENEY AWARD
• The award is named after Judge Wilmont Sweeney, who advocated
for alternatives to detention for juvenile offenders. In December
2017, the association announced that Judge Margaret Henry would
receive the 2017 honor.
Serving on the bench since 2001, Judge Henry held the posts of
chair and vice chair of the Juvenile Court Judges of California for
three years. She was recognized for leading a range of youth-
related initiatives over the past 17 years, including several related to
health and government benefits for youth in foster care, as well as
her current work on foster care cases related to California Assembly
Bill 12 (AB12).
