This document provides information about the celebration of Paryushan Parva by Jains in 2014. Paryushan Parva is an eight day festival that begins on August 22nd and ends on August 29th, with the final day of Samvatsari on August 30th. During this period, Jains engage in daily meditation, prayer, religious education and fasting. Shvetambara Jains traditionally read the Kalpa Sutra, which recounts the life of Mahavira, starting on the fourth day. The final day of Samvatsari involves confession and seeking forgiveness for wrongdoings over the past year.
