Leadership for Engaging Students Digitally: It's not about the Angry Birds!ewilliams65
How can leaders effectively leverage technology for learning? If we have pockets of best practices, how do we scale up? What specific action steps can leaders take to build a shared vision, facilitate professional learning, provide access 24/7/365, and create polices that support rather than undercut technology use? This file includes numerous links to useful resources.
This is a presentation which I delivered at the Oz Tech 2014 Conference in Melbourne. It includes teaching ideas for the Australian Technologies Curriculum. My teaching ideas are based on the Maker Movement ( getting kids to tinker, engage in hands- on learning experiences). This presentation was followed with a second hands on workshop called coding for teachers and kids.

‘Digital learning’ is gaining traction as more organisations begin to offer individual units and entire programs in the online space. But what are the characteristics of digital learning that make it good? This session provides an opportunity to learn more about digital learning pedagogy, and digital learning design.
This presentation uses the Manufacturing Pasts project, funded by JISC, as an example of how research outputs can be shared with the world through a combination of institutionally-supplied web services, and social media.
BDPA seeks to have 20 high school students and 20 college students in the 2011 BDPA IT Showcase to be held in Chicago later this year. This is the 16-page IT Showcase Guide that answers all of the questions about the event.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
