GLS Institute of Design was established in June 2016 and launched its Bachelor of Design and Integrated Master of Design programs. The first batch of 155 foundation students came from across India. In its first seven months, GLSID has generated significant interest in design education. The letter then answers several frequently asked questions about GLSID, including that it is part of GLS University and offers 4-year Bachelor of Design and 5-year Integrated Master of Design degrees, that the faculty are qualified with relevant degrees and experience, and that the infrastructure includes state-of-the-art facilities like computer labs, workshops, and classrooms on a Wi-Fi enabled campus with security.

1. Dear All
In a short while we are about to welcome the year 2017. The year 2016 has been a
very significant one for GLS Institute of Design. GLSID came into being in June
2016. It launched its B Des and Integrated M Des programme in Design with a
uniquely designed one week Orientation Programme. The first batch of foundation
students consists of 155 students from Gujarat and other states of India like Assam,
West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan etc.
In its first seven months only it has generated lot of interest in the education and
design field. We are constantly getting queries from parents and people eager to get
associated with us. Thus we thought it is appropriate to answer some questions here
which are most frequently asked.
A. The status of GLSID
It is under GLS University. GLSID offers 4 yrs Bachelors, B –Des and 5 yrs
Integrated Masters, M –Des in Design.
B. Are the faculties qualified?
The faculties are all post graduates and some have higher qualifications. They
are all competent, motivated and committed.
C. Is there adequate infrastructure?
The infrastructure is adequate and state of the art. We have a very high end
IT Lab, a well- equipped fashion lab, a product design cum interior design
workshop, AC classrooms, a very good library, green open spaces, access to
the GLS University auditorium, library, sport facilities, parking facilities, a wi-fi
enabled campus which is also under 24x 7 CCTV surveillance.
D. Do we get visiting faculties?
Our competent and motivated faculty team are the ones who does the
maximum teaching but whenever we get chance we give exposure to our
students to listen to external faculties as well. Till now 18 national and
international speakers have addressed the students from academia, corporate
sector, design fraternity, IT etc.
E. Do we have a placement cell?
We believe in the combination of the trio-employer, employee and
employability.
We believe, the employer always looks for good, competent, capable and
committed employees. The Employee looks for open and dedicated,
professional employers to work with who also have visions for the future. The
Employer Employee combination is an important factor for Employability.
Instead of organising placements for our students, we equip them to inculcate
the potential for getting trained for any of the Employer-Employee
combination. We focus on making them good individuals which is an asset for
any scenario of Employability. We make them capable, committed and a team
player-ideal for becoming a good professional.

2. F. What is the Job Prospect of Design students?
Design is no more a new profession. Every individual, professional,
community, society has understood the importance of Design and Design
Education. There is a great requirement for design professionals in various
sectors now. This has led to a sudden boom in Design Education. GLS
Institute of Design having a well-defined curriculum, a competent faculty team,
state of the art infrastructure, locational advantage, good global and national
tie ups with industry and academia is set to provide not only degrees but true,
quality design education for our students. The will not only make them
competent for Employability but contribute towards their holistic growth as
good human beings and a good professionals.
