JANUARY 2000- 2012
I served as an Organizer for California School Employees (hereafter, CSEA)
from 2000-2012. CSEA is the largest classified union in the United States
which covers over 200,000 school staff employees throughout California.
There are ten (10) field offices in California. Initially, I was hired as an
Organizer housed out of the Glendale Field Office, namely the Costa y Valle
Field Office. Later, my job description was reclassified into Labor Relations
Representative/Organizer whereby I provided critical assistance with the
union workload throughout Area I. Area I covers three (3) counties- Los
Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara- from San Pedro all the way up to Santa
Maria.
Assist Association in reaching it goals and objectives. Exercise a
considerable amount of independence, initiative, patience, and
judgment in carrying out work assignments
Research investigate and seek solutions to membership and
Association problems
Organize new chapters, provide education and training on
campaigns, chapter mobilizing and member recruitment.
Assisting in chapter leadership in understand CSEA goals
Work directly with CSEA at state level to develop trainings for
CSEA members and conduct them statewide
Represent members in all facets of the employee: employer
relationship, daily enforcement of collective bargaining
agreement, negotiations of salary, health and welfare, and fringe
benefits program. (sick leave, holidays, vacation, retirement, etc)
Research, investigate and seek solutions between employee and
employer, defend members at disciplinary hearings, and grievance
proceedings

BUSINESS AGENT WITH THE INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD
OF TEAMSTERS (IBT LOCAL 396) JANUARY 1998- 2000
Work consisted of representing Rubbish Industry Waste Management.
Represent members in all facets of the employee- employer relationship. Daily
duties included; enforcement of the collective bargaining agreement,
negotiation of salary, health, welfare, and fringe benefit programs. Organized
an external campaign with National Labor Relation Board (NLRB) that got
voted in favor of 2 to 1 for the UNION and was certified by NLRB with over
70 new members.
SERVICE EMPLOYEE INTERNATIONAL UNION (SEIU LOCAL 434-
B) LEAD ORGANIZER 1997- DECEMBER 1998
Was instrumental in building up the internal dynamics of the union through
the Site Rep Program. Contributed to the winning election in the Los Angeles
County which attained 80,000 new member for SEIU Local 434- B. Daily
duties were organizing on a day to day home visits and meetings towards
reaching out to home care workers and signing homecare workers to having a
union.
UNITED FARM WORKER ORGANIZER 1997- 1995
Secured better working conditions for the members and developed my passion
for the less fortunate. Worked beside who were considered some of the best
trainers from UFW such as Arturo Rodriguez, Dolores Huerta and many more
UFW old time community organizers. Outreached to all of the Labor Unions
from the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor. Contributed to the
Strawberry Campaign in Watsonville, California.
SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION “SEIU LOCAL
#660” 1995-1995
Member Organizer, worked at the Los Angeles County Library in Hacienda
Heights, when Biggest Campaign in Los Angeles County. To vote for and
Agency Shop Election, I was a member in release time working for SEIU,
LOCAL # 660.
Worked as “Lost Timer” member on release from my regular Job, at the
Library, we had assigned areas trout the Greatest Los Angeles County,
scheduling Site Meetings, One on One and inoculating members about
upcoming Election, signing up new members to be able to vote. And to have
Agency Shop for ALL County Employees.
