Job Shadowing Analysis
I job shadowed at Denton Creek Elementary, under Lindsay Campbell a drama director for the
elementary drama club. My responsibilities included watching over the students, interacting with
them and playing games with the students. I completed my job shadowing last fall semester and
completed my time in four months. I would shadow every Tuesday of the school week and the first
thing I would do was arrive and immediately start working with the kids. Before the start of Drama
Club the children would have a snack and have a chance to catch their breath after a long school
day. Miss Lindsay would always start the afternoon with a "Question of the Day", she always made
the questions short and nearly always relatable to every child she would ask questions...show more

They will openly express the truth about how they feel, it helped me become more aware of their
emotions and making sure everyone felt included when I was leading an activity. I liked being able
to interact with the children before hand. It provided a way for me to get to know the children
individual and establish one–on–one relationships with them. After their snack, we would move the
students to the gym to rehearse lines and practice scenes. When we arrived at the gym, we would
split up the students into two groups, usually by scenes of the play. Miss Campbell would take a
few of students and I would take the rest who were not focusing on rehearsing a particular scene.
Miss Campbell would usually ask me to let the children play games, this was a difficulty for me. I
had no idea what games I could play to entertain the students. One of the first games I introduced to
the kids was "Telephone" a game where, one person begins by whispering to the other person
something they want to say, and then the next person would repeat what the person before them
said. The students loved this game and they enjoyed playing it. This helped me realize that it is

Job shadowing is a great learning experience for people that are mostly in the grade 10 phase
because it helps you make your mind up about which career field you want to go into when you are
older.
I was privileged enough to find a Clinical Psychologist which is the position I maintained in the
company at Tembisa Hospital and the position I maintained entail a person to have people and
communication skills.
I have tried to acquire people and communication skills within the 3 days that I was there I also
volunteered to helped out anywhere help was needed, some of the skills I need to work on are my
interaction skills because I found it hard to adapt so quickly to people I'm not used to in only 3 days
and it...show more content...
I had to understand that I wasn't allowed in sessions even though it didn't sit well with me because I
wanted to know what actually goes down but other peoples information is private and I have to
respect that.
Well I felt that I could have learnt more than I already have at the workplace and I feel that it is
still an option but I don't think that's the field for me because I am more of a person that wants to
move around rather than sitting on a chair the whole day waiting for patients to come.
The opportunity did sort of help me in terms of realising that I need to be open to other broad
careers and not cling onto one thing that isn't for me and this is due to the fact that being a Clinical
Psychologist doesn't interest me as much as I thought it would.
I learnt that Clinical Psychologist isn't an easy job, it requires a lot of things like patience which is
something I don't have, I learnt that to make it in life you have to work hard and no matter how
angry you are you must pull yourself together and carry on with your day.
It was a great experience and I'd like to say that I'm very thankful to Sagewood and my mentor.

My job shadowing experience with Dr. D. Lance Taylor has helped me in learning about the
quality of education and intensive clinical training conducted at the SIU School of Dental
Medicine. In addition, the clinical certification course will aid in enhancing my knowledge and
developing skills required to make a smooth transition into the class. More importantly,
opportunities to serve at the Give Kids a Smile and Mission of Mercy clinics will help in
continuing my passion for community service. Also, it will be a great opportunity to learn from the
ongoing clinical research at the school and improve my critical thinking. I am particularly interested
in the research of Dr. Nathalia Garcia about the role of biomarkers in the progression of periodontal

My Job Shadowing Career
After spending an entire day job shadowing the director of tennis at River City, I do not want to
pursue this field of study. Before I began this job shadow, I knew that I did not want to go into this
profession because I have dreams of working on Wall Street in New York City. I thought that job
shadowing a tennis teaching professional would be a fun, and enjoyable, way to spend the day. Cy
Lystilla, one of my tennis coaches, is the man who I job shadowed for this project. Throughout the
day, I learned a ton of new information about his responsibilities as the director of tennis. If I would
not have taken the time to job shadow Cy, I would have never known about all of the little tasks he
has to complete before the end of his day. Throughout

To incorporate and overcome some of the contemporary and corporate cultures, the hospital needs to
implement some human resources strategies such as staff educational programs, staff training,
reward systems, job shadowing, and data tracking. Using surveys and questionnaires help to track
data. Surveys help identify needs and prioritize needs of the patient population (Health research,
2013). Hospitals can implement reward systems to attract those employees that support and value the
multidisciplinary rounds approach. Efficient reward systems help organizations not only attract
qualified employees, but it helps to retain those employees too (Gunawardena, 2011). Job
shadowing is often used as a recruiting tool for prospective disciplines in health care such as nursing
(Morrell & Detty–Gin, 2016). The same concept is useful in overcoming corporate cultures. Before
team members are assigned to a multidisciplinary team,...show more content...
Cultural competency seeks to promote patient care by understanding that each patient has "diverse
values, beliefs, and behaviors" ("Health Research", 2013, p.3). With that understanding, the delivery
of health care is tailored to meet each "patient's social, cultural, and linguistic needs" (Health
Research, 2013, p. 3). The National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS)
Standards in Health and Health Care can assist with implementation (Health Research, 2013).
Hospital should collect and analyze demographic data to determine their patient population and the
specific needs of that population (Health Research, 2013). The hospital should engage with the
community through communicating the findings from surveys and then education staff based on
findings. The feedback from the community uncovers important information that can be used to train
and educate staff on cultural competence. This is important as staff interacts with patients each

Example Of Job Shadowing
On the 23rd of February, 2017, I started my job shadow at the Dearborn Heights Treasurer's
Office. I talked to the manager of the office, John Riley II, and he said that he would like me to
shadow the whole staff of the office. I agreed to the decision, and started shadowing at 8 am. I
found that the whole staff is required to have a "dress casual" dress code. Their benefits are health
insurance, dental insurance, vacation time, sick leave, vision insurance, and retirement benefits.
They usually work 8 am to 5 pm from Monday to Thursday. I shadowed the bookkeepers, cashiers,
the deputy treasurer, and the treasurer.
At 8 am, I started shadowing Mrs. Lynne Senia. She is a bookkeeper in the treasurer's office. Her
"training" for the job consisted of learning how to do "10–key" and passing a Civil Service Test. She
has to balance the checking account, put in imports, and help people pay their taxes on time. At
around 9 am, I started shadowing Mrs. Julie Weekly, my mom, who is also a bookkeeper in the
treasurer's office. She also needed to pass a Civil Service Test and she said that she just needed
cashiering experience. My mother does utility billing, answers the phone, register, and business

the job she has is to know how to add and subtract and pass the Civil Service Test. As a cashier,
she scans bills and takes in all payments (such as police, court, and the library). Later in the day, I
shadowed Ms. Sheila Wall. She is also a cashier in the treasurer's office. Her training consisted of
being computer literate and having experience in customer service. Just like Mrs. North, Ms. Wall
also scans bills and takes all

How Did My Job Shadowing Affect My Career Choice
Darcy Davenport 2nd Hour Mr. Christian April 7, 2015 How Did My Job Shadowing Affect My
Career Choice Being a nurse is always a big job for anyone. There will be many ups and downs
and challenges in this career. I choose the career of being a nurse because I enjoy helping other
people. Being a nurse has been my dream job, and shadowing helped me look into this job a little
deeper. Going to shadow an actual nurse helped me learn about my career a lot more. It made me
think twice about my career and it showed me a lot about how it works. Although the nurse I
shadowed worked with senior citizens and I want to with premature babies and little children, it still
helped me understand the basics. The job as a nurse is a lot to take on but I...show more content...
Going on a job shadowing tour is a very helpful thing to to. It will help you so much on deciding
if your career is right for you. I encourage everyone to take the time to do their career job
shadowing. Job shadowing helped me understand how the job works. It showed me that not all
nursing companies are the same. the company I job shadowed is very flexible with their
schedules and most things the nurses do and tis is what my mentor likes most about her job. The
part she dislikes is that she is always on call. When I did my job shadowing I took in a lot of
information. I got told that the starting salary is fifty–five thousand a year and sixty thousand per
year after ten years. They also use company computers all day every day. They use the computers
to document all the information. The nurses that do home health care have tablets that they take
with them. They use those to take with them to a patients house to record all the information.
Nurses have a lot of side jobs and tasks. Being a nurse has always been my dream job. To further
my education in the medical field I am going to have to do a lot of mind set thinking.

Job Shadowing Essay
On April 1st, I spent the day job shadowing Mrs. Carmen Carroll at CEVA Logistics. I was the
only student working with her that day, but it gave me a much more personal experience. CEVA
is a company that contracts logistics and freight management solutions provider worldwide. I
spent the day closely following Mrs. Carmen Carroll while she worked in her role in the
company. On a typical day, she wakes up early and arrives at the building around 8 o'clock am,
and is allowed to leave anywhere from 4 o'clock to 6 o'clock in the evening, depending on her
workload. Tasks she usually completes are copious amounts of spreadsheets, paperwork, and
overseeing those below her in the company. Originally, she stated off working in a cubical, but
gradually moved up in the company to be the person overlooking them. Her current title at CEVA
Logistics is Department Supervisor. If she needs help, she usually contacts those higher in the
chain than her, as she is the only worker at her level. The environment her job is placed in is a very
stereotypical office setting with cubicles, offices, and a break room. Most of my time...show more

My focus was to be able to experience a field that I had previously never thought about entering
and to hopefully gain new appreciation for it. During the course of the day, I noticed that there
was a lot more thought that had to be put into everything she did that I did not realize was a
factor. Every situation is similar to those previous to it, but each must be tailored to specific
requirements. One of the most interesting parts of the job was that it is a very serious company,
but the environment is more along the lines of a relaxed office setting. The only thing I did not
enjoy is the extensive amount of paperwork. If I were to change my major or take up a job similar
to this in my free time, I would enjoy working her because of the environment presented to me

Job Shadowing Reflection
Upon completion of the first log check, there is a multitude of aspect to be reflected upon and
discuss regarding my senior project. Not only have I begun the job shadowing process as planned,
but I have learned a plethora of new informative facts about the chosen career pathway. However,
with the accomplishment come the disappointments and failures. However, I plan on continuing to
shadow and to learn as much information as I can about orthodontal assistance no matter how
challenging it may be. The shadowing process began with my mentor, Ms. Martin, having me
simply observe how she and her colleagues did their jobs. Due to the fact that I am shadowing an
orthodontal assistant who has to work with patient's teeth and mouths, I have yet to get any
hands–on experience. I must say, I wish I was able to participate more in the tasks I was being
taught, however, I understand where the privacy of the patient comes in. I was able to witness many
different patient cases....show more content...
My mentor works on average four days a week generally with eight hours in each day worked.
This created problems due to the fact that almost all of Ms. Martins work days were during the
week while I am in school. The latest times she works are seven, six and four thirty pm, which
means I had very small units of time to shadow her after school was over. In the future I would
prefer to go to the orthodontist's office to shadow on days that are back to back rather than spread
out. However, a plus to going on days that are separated is having a greater chance of seeing new
patients who require different treatments and have different needs. I have also had some
communication issues when at the office. This is because I am a very shy and reserved person who
likes to keep to themselves. I find asking questions and making comments is a bit more challenging
to me at this point in the

On Wednesday, March 16, I had the opportunity of job shadowing multiple departments of the
Customer Communications group of Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS). For the first part of the day, I
spent most of my time meeting advertisers, designers, and writers of the department and attended
creative meetings. The manager of the department was Mrs. Dianne Eysink who has been working at
BCBS for the past twenty–five years in public relations. After lunch, I went to Digital FX, a
production company, and met those in charge of editing and creating commercials for BCBS. To be
honest, I was very confused, in the beginning, as to why I was visiting these departments that have
seemingly nothing to do with my intended career. I was shadowing web designers,

Union Elementary School is home to Perrysburg Preschool, where I did my observation and job
shadowing. Union elementary is located in Maumee, Ohio although the school itself is part of the
Perrysburg school district, In Northwest Ohio. Though this is a public school, all pre–school
programs in this school feature both children with developmental delays and are on IEPs, as well as
children that are considered on track, developmentally. IEPs, or Individualized Education Programs,
are defined as special education services that is required by law. This is a document that lays out
a child's learning needs and services that the school provides to help said student succeed. By
incorporating children that not only are on IEPs, but also children considered up to date
developmentally, this allows for those children on IEPs to see themselves as equals, and those who
are up to date to become familiar with these children who are living with special needs, seeing them
as equals. One of the teachers in this pre–school, as well as therapy specialist for those children who
need it, is Cathie France. For this job shadowing assignment I observed her both in the classroom
with the children and during therapy sessions with individual children. As an itinerant teacher at
an elementary school requires a degree in early childhood education and, at many places, a master's
degree as well. However, because over half of the students are on IEPs, a degree in social work, or

For my job shadow, I observed Mrs. Pearl Sikorski, a scheduler who has been at her company for
over twenty years. While spending time with her, I had the opportunity to meet some of her
coworkers as well. They all work in a one roomed office and their tasks range from scanning to
sending people out. I originally chose to shadow here because of the role it has played in my life.
From the time of the toddler days up until later on this year, when my last family members leave the
company. There are many things I learned there which include: What the work environment was
like, what benefits it offers, and I will tell you what the experience was like. The business itself

Sikorski stated that her health insurance was by far the most important benefit to her because of
her insurance covers herself and her family. When I asked what benefits to look for she told me "
Make sure to find a job with health, dental, and vision benefits at the least, you don't want to end
up with nothing while you give them everything but the shirt off your back." It gave me a real idea
of what to look for in a job; to not let anybody push me around. The workday for these men and
women, begins at roughly eight–thirty in the morning and ends at about six at night. They receive
thirty–minute lunch breaks and if they smoke, than smoke breaks as well. They are taken at the
risk of the workers, they decide when their break happens. The first thing we did was take a tour of
the building, all of those winds and turns were a little confusing but eventually it was like second
nature. We made sure the installers had the appropriate work, did the respective paperwork for the
men and customers, made phone calls and made sure the permits and electricians were

Job Shadowing: Case Study
I had the opportunity to job shadow at St. Mary's on April 3rd, 2017. Several different
technologists made my experience very pleasant. They would explain the procedures, what they
were looking for and asked if I had any questions. It was very helpful because it made me feel
comfortable. What I really liked and found interesting was fluoroscopy and portables. How the
barium moved through the patient when put in different positions was fascinating. Portables were
cool to witness as well due to the change in technology. One was instant where the other required
processing. On the other hand, CT was what I disliked most about the shadow. The procedures
were really fast paced. Patients were in and out. It was very difficult to get an idea of what they

When the MRI was going on, the technologist saw metal in his hip area. He stopped the procedure

dangers are in the field to me and patients. I personally do not think I need another job shadow to

and experiencing different challenges the field of work can bring to home life. A technologist said

Job Shadowing In Radiography
I had the opportunity to job shadow on two different occasions at St. Vincent Kokomo Hospital.
On one occasion I observed for ten hours and on the other I observed for eight hours. During
these eighteen hours of job shadowing I not only learned about the job of a radiographer in more
depth, but I also fell more in love with my career choice. I was able to observe many different
radiographers as well as a few radiography students. This provided me with the opportunity to
become familiar with typical radiographic equipment and terminology, to become more aware of
the roles and job functions of radiologists, to observe a variety of patient examinations and
procedures, and to discuss the goals and challenges of a radiography program from the perspective
of a student....show more content...
Many of the radiographers and students I observed explained how and why they set up the
equipment in a certain manner, which allowed them the best chance of taking high quality images
with the least amount of radiation exposure as possible to a patient. In many cases it was
explained why images at different angles of a body part was necessary. Not only does taking
quality images the first time make the procedure timelier, but it decreases the radiation exposure to
the patient. Overall I believe I became more familiar with radiological terminology in addition to
the radiological equipment and the functions of the equipment. During my observation it was made
clear that patient care is the top priority of radiographers. Taking readable and excellent images is
important, but the safety and care of the patient comes first. Radiographers were always considerate,
helpful, and friendly to their patients. After patient care, the next priority is providing the radiologist
or other doctors with excellent and most importantly readable images. I was able to observe many
procedures,

My Job Shadowing Career
You may be asking yourself what is a day like in grade school teachers life. I was curious of the
same thing, which is why I chose to job shadow a Junior High School teacher/coach. I did my job
shadowing experience with Chris Page, at Diboll Junior High. He works there as a seventh grade
science teacher and a boys junior high athletics coach. This combination is very common in small
school districts across Texas, that is, having a teacher double as an athletic advisor in their school
system. I had the opportunity to experience this first hand recently and have had the chance to
decide if this is what career I'd like to pursue. To summarize this profession I have done extensive
research online and in libraries before and following my job shadowing. The average school
teacher in the state of Texas makes about $57,000, he said that that was pretty close to what he
actually made. As we all know teachers get a lot of vacation time compared to most professions,
getting typically a week or two at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring break. Also teachers have an
extended break in the summer months anywhere from the end of May through to the beginning of
September, just depending on the area they live and work. On a different note, teachers have
multiple responsibilities in their schools aside...show more content...
My main mentor was the 7th grade science teacher, in that class the students worked in partners to

councilors came in to help the students create their schedule for the next school year. I think that
was a good experience to have, it showed first hand as a teacher you have to be able to adapt to
changing situations. Whenever Mr. Page, my mentor, got to school this was thrown on him, he had
to modify what he had scheduled to meet the administration's

Deep breaths helped sooth my nerves, but my nerves still wouldn't go all the way. My job

Fashion is one of the few ways that a person can truly express themselves to the world. Fashion is its
own form of art. I have always had a personal love for fashion and would love to help others express
themselves, also. Job–shadowing for fashion retailing was an overall good experience for me. This

On September 16, 2016 I was given the opportunity to job shadow at Shear Perfections in Collins,
MS. My mentor was Misty Page, a hair and makeup artist. She was accompanied by her co–owner

me how to properly groom a beard. After the man was done, two boys came in. The younger of
the two wanted his hair cut just like Jared Leto's Joker. While Misty cut his hair she showed me
different techniques. Ultimately, for such a new haircut, she nailed it. After the boys, she let me

Job Shadowing Essay

  • 1. Job Shadowing Analysis I job shadowed at Denton Creek Elementary, under Lindsay Campbell a drama director for the elementary drama club. My responsibilities included watching over the students, interacting with them and playing games with the students. I completed my job shadowing last fall semester and completed my time in four months. I would shadow every Tuesday of the school week and the first thing I would do was arrive and immediately start working with the kids. Before the start of Drama Club the children would have a snack and have a chance to catch their breath after a long school day. Miss Lindsay would always start the afternoon with a "Question of the Day", she always made the questions short and nearly always relatable to every child she would ask questions...show more content... They will openly express the truth about how they feel, it helped me become more aware of their emotions and making sure everyone felt included when I was leading an activity. I liked being able to interact with the children before hand. It provided a way for me to get to know the children individual and establish one–on–one relationships with them. After their snack, we would move the students to the gym to rehearse lines and practice scenes. When we arrived at the gym, we would split up the students into two groups, usually by scenes of the play. Miss Campbell would take a few of students and I would take the rest who were not focusing on rehearsing a particular scene. Miss Campbell would usually ask me to let the children play games, this was a difficulty for me. I had no idea what games I could play to entertain the students. One of the first games I introduced to the kids was "Telephone" a game where, one person begins by whispering to the other person something they want to say, and then the next person would repeat what the person before them said. The students loved this game and they enjoyed playing it. This helped me realize that it is important to know your Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Job Shadowing Essay NAME: FEZILE CENENDA GRADE: 10.2 Job shadowing is a great learning experience for people that are mostly in the grade 10 phase because it helps you make your mind up about which career field you want to go into when you are older. I was privileged enough to find a Clinical Psychologist which is the position I maintained in the company at Tembisa Hospital and the position I maintained entail a person to have people and communication skills. I have tried to acquire people and communication skills within the 3 days that I was there I also volunteered to helped out anywhere help was needed, some of the skills I need to work on are my interaction skills because I found it hard to adapt so quickly to people I'm not used to in only 3 days and it...show more content... I had to understand that I wasn't allowed in sessions even though it didn't sit well with me because I wanted to know what actually goes down but other peoples information is private and I have to respect that. Well I felt that I could have learnt more than I already have at the workplace and I feel that it is still an option but I don't think that's the field for me because I am more of a person that wants to move around rather than sitting on a chair the whole day waiting for patients to come. The opportunity did sort of help me in terms of realising that I need to be open to other broad careers and not cling onto one thing that isn't for me and this is due to the fact that being a Clinical Psychologist doesn't interest me as much as I thought it would. I learnt that Clinical Psychologist isn't an easy job, it requires a lot of things like patience which is something I don't have, I learnt that to make it in life you have to work hard and no matter how angry you are you must pull yourself together and carry on with your day. It was a great experience and I'd like to say that I'm very thankful to Sagewood and my mentor. WORD COUNT: Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Job Shadowing Letter My job shadowing experience with Dr. D. Lance Taylor has helped me in learning about the quality of education and intensive clinical training conducted at the SIU School of Dental Medicine. In addition, the clinical certification course will aid in enhancing my knowledge and developing skills required to make a smooth transition into the class. More importantly, opportunities to serve at the Give Kids a Smile and Mission of Mercy clinics will help in continuing my passion for community service. Also, it will be a great opportunity to learn from the ongoing clinical research at the school and improve my critical thinking. I am particularly interested in the research of Dr. Nathalia Garcia about the role of biomarkers in the progression of periodontal Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. My Job Shadowing Career After spending an entire day job shadowing the director of tennis at River City, I do not want to pursue this field of study. Before I began this job shadow, I knew that I did not want to go into this profession because I have dreams of working on Wall Street in New York City. I thought that job shadowing a tennis teaching professional would be a fun, and enjoyable, way to spend the day. Cy Lystilla, one of my tennis coaches, is the man who I job shadowed for this project. Throughout the day, I learned a ton of new information about his responsibilities as the director of tennis. If I would not have taken the time to job shadow Cy, I would have never known about all of the little tasks he has to complete before the end of his day. • 5. Job Shadowing To incorporate and overcome some of the contemporary and corporate cultures, the hospital needs to implement some human resources strategies such as staff educational programs, staff training, reward systems, job shadowing, and data tracking. Using surveys and questionnaires help to track data. Surveys help identify needs and prioritize needs of the patient population (Health research, 2013). Hospitals can implement reward systems to attract those employees that support and value the multidisciplinary rounds approach. Efficient reward systems help organizations not only attract qualified employees, but it helps to retain those employees too (Gunawardena, 2011). Job shadowing is often used as a recruiting tool for prospective disciplines in health care such as nursing (Morrell & Detty–Gin, 2016). The same concept is useful in overcoming corporate cultures. Before team members are assigned to a multidisciplinary team,...show more content... Cultural competency seeks to promote patient care by understanding that each patient has "diverse values, beliefs, and behaviors" ("Health Research", 2013, p.3). With that understanding, the delivery of health care is tailored to meet each "patient's social, cultural, and linguistic needs" (Health Research, 2013, p. 3). The National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) Standards in Health and Health Care can assist with implementation (Health Research, 2013). Hospital should collect and analyze demographic data to determine their patient population and the specific needs of that population (Health Research, 2013). The hospital should engage with the community through communicating the findings from surveys and then education staff based on findings. The feedback from the community uncovers important information that can be used to train and educate staff on cultural competence. This is important as staff interacts with patients each Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Example Of Job Shadowing On the 23rd of February, 2017, I started my job shadow at the Dearborn Heights Treasurer's Office. I talked to the manager of the office, John Riley II, and he said that he would like me to shadow the whole staff of the office. I agreed to the decision, and started shadowing at 8 am. I found that the whole staff is required to have a "dress casual" dress code. Their benefits are health insurance, dental insurance, vacation time, sick leave, vision insurance, and retirement benefits. They usually work 8 am to 5 pm from Monday to Thursday. I shadowed the bookkeepers, cashiers, the deputy treasurer, and the treasurer. At 8 am, I started shadowing Mrs. Lynne Senia. She is a bookkeeper in the treasurer's office. Her "training" for the job consisted of learning how to do "10–key" and passing a Civil Service Test. She has to balance the checking account, put in imports, and help people pay their taxes on time. At around 9 am, I started shadowing Mrs. Julie Weekly, my mom, who is also a bookkeeper in the treasurer's office. She also needed to pass a Civil Service Test and she said that she just needed cashiering experience. My mother does utility billing, answers the phone, register, and business property tax....show more content... Jeanne North. She is a cashier in the treasurer's office. She told me that all she needed to do to get the job she has is to know how to add and subtract and pass the Civil Service Test. As a cashier, she scans bills and takes in all payments (such as police, court, and the library). Later in the day, I shadowed Ms. Sheila Wall. She is also a cashier in the treasurer's office. Her training consisted of being computer literate and having experience in customer service. Just like Mrs. North, Ms. Wall also scans bills and takes all Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. How Did My Job Shadowing Affect My Career Choice Darcy Davenport 2nd Hour Mr. Christian April 7, 2015 How Did My Job Shadowing Affect My Career Choice Being a nurse is always a big job for anyone. There will be many ups and downs and challenges in this career. I choose the career of being a nurse because I enjoy helping other people. Being a nurse has been my dream job, and shadowing helped me look into this job a little deeper. Going to shadow an actual nurse helped me learn about my career a lot more. It made me think twice about my career and it showed me a lot about how it works. Although the nurse I shadowed worked with senior citizens and I want to with premature babies and little children, it still helped me understand the basics. The job as a nurse is a lot to take on but I...show more content... Going on a job shadowing tour is a very helpful thing to to. It will help you so much on deciding if your career is right for you. I encourage everyone to take the time to do their career job shadowing. Job shadowing helped me understand how the job works. It showed me that not all nursing companies are the same. the company I job shadowed is very flexible with their schedules and most things the nurses do and tis is what my mentor likes most about her job. The part she dislikes is that she is always on call. When I did my job shadowing I took in a lot of information. I got told that the starting salary is fifty–five thousand a year and sixty thousand per year after ten years. They also use company computers all day every day. They use the computers to document all the information. The nurses that do home health care have tablets that they take with them. They use those to take with them to a patients house to record all the information. Nurses have a lot of side jobs and tasks. Being a nurse has always been my dream job. To further my education in the medical field I am going to have to do a lot of mind set thinking. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Job Shadowing Essay On April 1st, I spent the day job shadowing Mrs. Carmen Carroll at CEVA Logistics. I was the only student working with her that day, but it gave me a much more personal experience. CEVA is a company that contracts logistics and freight management solutions provider worldwide. I spent the day closely following Mrs. Carmen Carroll while she worked in her role in the company. On a typical day, she wakes up early and arrives at the building around 8 o'clock am, and is allowed to leave anywhere from 4 o'clock to 6 o'clock in the evening, depending on her workload. Tasks she usually completes are copious amounts of spreadsheets, paperwork, and overseeing those below her in the company. Originally, she stated off working in a cubical, but gradually moved up in the company to be the person overlooking them. Her current title at CEVA Logistics is Department Supervisor. If she needs help, she usually contacts those higher in the chain than her, as she is the only worker at her level. The environment her job is placed in is a very stereotypical office setting with cubicles, offices, and a break room. Most of my time...show more content... My focus was to be able to experience a field that I had previously never thought about entering and to hopefully gain new appreciation for it. During the course of the day, I noticed that there was a lot more thought that had to be put into everything she did that I did not realize was a factor. Every situation is similar to those previous to it, but each must be tailored to specific requirements. One of the most interesting parts of the job was that it is a very serious company, but the environment is more along the lines of a relaxed office setting. The only thing I did not enjoy is the extensive amount of paperwork. If I were to change my major or take up a job similar to this in my free time, I would enjoy working her because of the environment presented to me during my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Job Shadowing Reflection Upon completion of the first log check, there is a multitude of aspect to be reflected upon and discuss regarding my senior project. Not only have I begun the job shadowing process as planned, but I have learned a plethora of new informative facts about the chosen career pathway. However, with the accomplishment come the disappointments and failures. However, I plan on continuing to shadow and to learn as much information as I can about orthodontal assistance no matter how challenging it may be. The shadowing process began with my mentor, Ms. Martin, having me simply observe how she and her colleagues did their jobs. Due to the fact that I am shadowing an orthodontal assistant who has to work with patient's teeth and mouths, I have yet to get any hands–on experience. I must say, I wish I was able to participate more in the tasks I was being taught, however, I understand where the privacy of the patient comes in. I was able to witness many different patient cases....show more content... My mentor works on average four days a week generally with eight hours in each day worked. This created problems due to the fact that almost all of Ms. Martins work days were during the week while I am in school. The latest times she works are seven, six and four thirty pm, which means I had very small units of time to shadow her after school was over. In the future I would prefer to go to the orthodontist's office to shadow on days that are back to back rather than spread out. However, a plus to going on days that are separated is having a greater chance of seeing new patients who require different treatments and have different needs. I have also had some communication issues when at the office. This is because I am a very shy and reserved person who likes to keep to themselves. I find asking questions and making comments is a bit more challenging to me at this point in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Job Shadowing Reflection On Wednesday, March 16, I had the opportunity of job shadowing multiple departments of the Customer Communications group of Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS). For the first part of the day, I spent most of my time meeting advertisers, designers, and writers of the department and attended creative meetings. The manager of the department was Mrs. Dianne Eysink who has been working at BCBS for the past twenty–five years in public relations. After lunch, I went to Digital FX, a production company, and met those in charge of editing and creating commercials for BCBS. To be honest, I was very confused, in the beginning, as to why I was visiting these departments that have seemingly nothing to do with my intended career. I was shadowing web designers, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Reflection Paper On Job Shadowing Professional Position Union Elementary School is home to Perrysburg Preschool, where I did my observation and job shadowing. Union elementary is located in Maumee, Ohio although the school itself is part of the Perrysburg school district, In Northwest Ohio. Though this is a public school, all pre–school programs in this school feature both children with developmental delays and are on IEPs, as well as children that are considered on track, developmentally. IEPs, or Individualized Education Programs, are defined as special education services that is required by law. This is a document that lays out a child's learning needs and services that the school provides to help said student succeed. By incorporating children that not only are on IEPs, but also children considered up to date developmentally, this allows for those children on IEPs to see themselves as equals, and those who are up to date to become familiar with these children who are living with special needs, seeing them as equals. One of the teachers in this pre–school, as well as therapy specialist for those children who need it, is Cathie France. For this job shadowing assignment I observed her both in the classroom with the children and during therapy sessions with individual children. As an itinerant teacher at an elementary school requires a degree in early childhood education and, at many places, a master's degree as well. However, because over half of the students are on IEPs, a degree in social work, or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Essay On Job Shadow For my job shadow, I observed Mrs. Pearl Sikorski, a scheduler who has been at her company for over twenty years. While spending time with her, I had the opportunity to meet some of her coworkers as well. They all work in a one roomed office and their tasks range from scanning to sending people out. I originally chose to shadow here because of the role it has played in my life. From the time of the toddler days up until later on this year, when my last family members leave the company. There are many things I learned there which include: What the work environment was like, what benefits it offers, and I will tell you what the experience was like. Sikorski stated that her health insurance was by far the most important benefit to her because of her insurance covers herself and her family. When I asked what benefits to look for she told me " Make sure to find a job with health, dental, and vision benefits at the least, you don't want to end up with nothing while you give them everything but the shirt off your back." It gave me a real idea of what to look for in a job; to not let anybody push me around. The workday for these men and women, begins at roughly eight–thirty in the morning and ends at about six at night. They receive thirty–minute lunch breaks and if they smoke, than smoke breaks as well. They are taken at the risk of the workers, they decide when their break happens. The first thing we did was take a tour of the building, all of those winds and turns were a little confusing but eventually it was like second nature. We made sure the installers had the appropriate work, did the respective paperwork for the men and customers, made phone calls and made sure the permits and electricians were Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 14. Job Shadowing: Case Study I had the opportunity to job shadow at St. Mary's on April 3rd, 2017. Several different technologists made my experience very pleasant. They would explain the procedures, what they were looking for and asked if I had any questions. It was very helpful because it made me feel comfortable. What I really liked and found interesting was fluoroscopy and portables. How the barium moved through the patient when put in different positions was fascinating. Portables were cool to witness as well due to the change in technology. One was instant where the other required processing. On the other hand, CT was what I disliked most about the shadow. The procedures were really fast paced. Patients were in and out. It was very difficult to get an idea of what they truly do....show more content... When the MRI was going on, the technologist saw metal in his hip area. He stopped the procedure right away to talk to the patient. I was not able to see the end results but I didn't know that MRI's were so dangerous. It was surprisingly interesting and concerning. Made me wonder what other dangers are in the field to me and patients. I personally do not think I need another job shadow to see if this career job fits me, I think it does. I had the chance to hear about radiology growing up and experiencing different challenges the field of work can bring to home life. A technologist said when being interviewed, " Every day is different, you can't expect the same thing all day, every day." I would be excited to work in this field that offers Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Job Shadowing In Radiography I had the opportunity to job shadow on two different occasions at St. Vincent Kokomo Hospital. On one occasion I observed for ten hours and on the other I observed for eight hours. During these eighteen hours of job shadowing I not only learned about the job of a radiographer in more depth, but I also fell more in love with my career choice. I was able to observe many different radiographers as well as a few radiography students. This provided me with the opportunity to become familiar with typical radiographic equipment and terminology, to become more aware of the roles and job functions of radiologists, to observe a variety of patient examinations and procedures, and to discuss the goals and challenges of a radiography program from the perspective of a student....show more content... Many of the radiographers and students I observed explained how and why they set up the equipment in a certain manner, which allowed them the best chance of taking high quality images with the least amount of radiation exposure as possible to a patient. In many cases it was explained why images at different angles of a body part was necessary. Not only does taking quality images the first time make the procedure timelier, but it decreases the radiation exposure to the patient. Overall I believe I became more familiar with radiological terminology in addition to the radiological equipment and the functions of the equipment. During my observation it was made clear that patient care is the top priority of radiographers. Taking readable and excellent images is important, but the safety and care of the patient comes first. Radiographers were always considerate, helpful, and friendly to their patients. After patient care, the next priority is providing the radiologist or other doctors with excellent and most importantly readable images. I was able to observe many procedures, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. My Job Shadowing Career You may be asking yourself what is a day like in grade school teachers life. I was curious of the same thing, which is why I chose to job shadow a Junior High School teacher/coach. I did my job shadowing experience with Chris Page, at Diboll Junior High. He works there as a seventh grade science teacher and a boys junior high athletics coach. This combination is very common in small school districts across Texas, that is, having a teacher double as an athletic advisor in their school system. I had the opportunity to experience this first hand recently and have had the chance to decide if this is what career I'd like to pursue. To summarize this profession I have done extensive research online and in libraries before and following my job shadowing. The average school teacher in the state of Texas makes about $57,000, he said that that was pretty close to what he actually made. As we all know teachers get a lot of vacation time compared to most professions, getting typically a week or two at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring break. Also teachers have an extended break in the summer months anywhere from the end of May through to the beginning of September, just depending on the area they live and work. On a different note, teachers have multiple responsibilities in their schools aside...show more content... My main mentor was the 7th grade science teacher, in that class the students worked in partners to complete a review for an upcoming test. But at the beginning of each class one of the school councilors came in to help the students create their schedule for the next school year. I think that was a good experience to have, it showed first hand as a teacher you have to be able to adapt to changing situations. Whenever Mr. Page, my mentor, got to school this was thrown on him, he had to modify what he had scheduled to meet the administration's Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Job Shadowing Essay The Day in the Life of a Cook I woke up as normal that morning of the job shadow; though, my stomach did flip flops as I was anxious about the day ahead. My clothes had been laid out the night before, and I had my clipboard loaded with all the paperwork along with my charged laptop. Deep breaths helped sooth my nerves, but my nerves still wouldn't go all the way. My job shadow was at Augusta Head Start, where my mother worked, since it was not far from home, and since I had considered culinary science, I thought it would be beneficial if I job shadowed some one in the culinary world. The environment was clean, but very muggy due to no AC. I felt very sorry for Mrs. Doell, the one I was job shadowing, but she managed to keep a smile during Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 19. Job Shadowing Experience Since I was a child I have thought about going into the military, I went back and forth with the decision many times. I had always wanted to be Military Police for the United States Army, and or sophomore experience last year I went and visited a Army recruiter for my job shadowing. During this visit one of the recruiters set up a meeting with me for a later date, never showed or called to cancel. So at this moment I got a not so good view of the military and the people they employed to get people in the military. I continued on the path of the military though, and took the ASVAB, and I didn't really know what my score mean. I contacted a different Army recruiter to talk about my score, he set up a meeting with me and he did not show or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Essay On Job Shadowing On September 16, 2016 I was given the opportunity to job shadow at Shear Perfections in Collins, MS. My mentor was Misty Page, a hair and makeup artist. She was accompanied by her co–owner and they both assisted in making my job shadowing experience wonderful. Misty set up the entire shop before I arrived and my mother was there to guide me. Doing the job shadowing helped me answer questions I would have never been able to answer on my own. Overall, the environment, clients, and experience was something I can not forget. When I first walked in I was very nervous. I had never job shadowed before and it was so new. However, as soon as Misty saw me, she gave me a big smile and made me feel at home. She had just arrived so she decided to give me a few pointers while I interviewed her. Her business partner Emily also made me feel welcomed. The whole room was inviting and warm. It made me understand why her clients return to her after their appointments. Her large smile and bubbly personality could strip anyone of hate toward the world. The love she had for her job was contagious and I soon began to laugh and enjoy the gossip around me that is normally associated with a salon....show more content... I had my reservations about the job shadowing but now that I have done it, I feel that it is beneficial. We started out by going through her tools and cosmetic products she uses everyday. Then her first client came in. It was an older man and he needed his beard trimmed. She showed me how to properly groom a beard. After the man was done, two boys came in. The younger of the two wanted his hair cut just like Jared Leto's Joker. While Misty cut his hair she showed me different techniques. Ultimately, for such a new haircut, she nailed it. After the boys, she let me bleach a part of a woman's hair. At home I bleach my mothers so I was prepared for the strong ammonia Get more content on HelpWriting.net
