Luke 10:25-26
On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to
test Jesus. ‘Teacher,’ he asked, ‘what must I do
to inherit eternal life?’
‘What is written in the Law?’ He replied. ‘How
do you read it?’

Luke 10:27-29
He answered: ‘Love the Lord your God with all
your heart and with all your soul and with all
your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love
your neighbor as yourself.’ ‘You have answered
correctly,’ Jesus replied. ‘Do this and you will
live.’ But he wanted to justify himself, so he
asked Jesus, ‘And who is my neighbor?’

Luke 10:30-31
In reply Jesus said, ‘A man was going down from
Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands
of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes,
beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.
A priest happened to be going down the same
road, and when he saw the man, he passed by
on the other side.

Luke 10:32-33
So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and
saw him, passed by on the other side. But a
Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man
was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.

Luke 10:34-35
He went to him and bandaged his wounds,
pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man
on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took
care of him. The next day he took out two silver
coins and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look
after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will
reimburse you for any extra expense you may
have.’

Luke 10:36-37
Which of these three do you think was a
neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of
robbers?’ The expert in the law replied, ‘The
one who had mercy on him.’ Jesus told him, ‘Go
and do likewise.’

We are to love God with ALL we are and ALL we
have.
Do you truly love God if He means LESS to you on
Monday than Sunday?
If my love increases or decreases in RELATION to
what God does or doesn’t do for me then it really
isn’t love for God.
You cannot LOVE God apart
from FAITH in Him.
…growth is not so much a measure of time as it is
INTIMACY.
Your tithes and offerings are a means of loving
with your STRENGTH, as is teaching, cleaning, etc.
True love isn’t BLIND.
We are called to think
CORRECTLY, but also to love
God PASSIONATELY.
Love doesn’t look to DEFINE the neighbor but to
act neighborly.
Jesus didn’t reveal their thoughts because it didn’t
matter, only whether or not their love for God
would TRANSLATE into life application.
We are to love God
with all we are which
overflows into love for
our NEIGHBOR.

( ) Do the home life help (in bulletin)
( ) Examine if my “love” for God is focused on
what He does or Who He is
( ) Identify where I can grow in my love (heart,
soul, strength and/or mind)
( ) Commit to stop justifying my sin and instead
follow Him.
( ) Take steps to express love for God/neighbor
