We praise God first for who he is, then what He has done and what is yet to come. Revelation is God's preview that any worldly system built on principles other than God's will go under and His Kingdom will come.
While scholars differ on the specifics of Revelation 20, the general message is clear. Christ will return and establish His kingdom, reward His people, and judge all that is unrighteous.
The document describes John's vision in Revelation 14 of 144,000 people standing with the Lamb of God in heaven who are redeemed from the earth. It provides both a positive reinforcement of the exuberant joy experienced by those who accept Christ, as well as a negative deterrent against worshipping the beast through warnings of God's coming judgment. The vision serves as a sneak peek and reminder from God of why one should remain faithful to Him through committed obedience rather than allowing the world to lead them into unfaithfulness and sin.
Matthew 10, Disciples, Apostles, wolves, Fear God, Boasting, ss, Jesus Launc...Valley Bible Fellowship
Jesus calls his twelve disciples and gives them power over unclean spirits and to heal diseases. He sends them out two by two to preach about the kingdom of heaven. Jesus warns them that they will face persecution from religious and political leaders, and even from within their own families. He tells them not to fear those who can kill the body but cannot kill the soul, but to fear God who can destroy both body and soul in hell.
The elder asks John who the people clothed in white robes are. John doesn't know, so the elder explains they are those who have come out of the great tribulation and have washed their robes white in the blood of the Lamb. They stand before God's throne serving him day and night in his temple. They will never be hungry, thirsty, or harmed by the sun again, as the Lamb will shepherd and guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.

Revelation 21 sept 16, 2012 sermon slides (1)John Smith
The document provides an overview and commentary on Revelation chapters 21-22. It summarizes that these chapters provide a vision of a new heaven, new earth, and new Jerusalem, with God making all things new and dwelling among his people. There will be no more death, crying, or pain, and access to the tree of life is restored. The holy city is described as having great walls and gates guarded by angels, with God and the Lamb as its temple. It will be a place of eternal life, worship, and dwelling with God.
The document announces upcoming events at Pineview Church, including a homecoming service and covered dish lunch, children's choir rehearsals, and various committee meetings. It also shares lyrics to several hymns about Jesus, God, forgiveness, and faith.
The document describes the war in heaven between Christ and Satan in which Satan was defeated and cast out of heaven down to earth along with his angels. It references biblical passages that describe Satan's fall from heaven as well as subsequent battles where Satan was defeated, such as the temptation of Jesus, Christ's death and resurrection, people becoming Christians, and Christians remaining faithful. The overall message is that Christ defeated Satan in the original war in heaven and continues defeating him through believers today.
This document discusses the dangers of being content and focuses on several Bible passages. It summarizes that being content with what you have and being rich toward God is important, while desiring wealth can lead people astray. The conclusion warns that just claiming to know God is not enough and asks if today will be the day one decides to be saved.
1) The document describes the visions from Daniel chapter 2 of different metals representing successive kingdoms that would rule the earth: Babylon represented by a head of gold, Medo-Persia represented by the breast and arms of silver, Greco-Roman represented by the waist and thighs of bronze, Islam represented by legs of iron, and ten Islamic kingdoms represented by feet of iron mixed with clay.
2) It discusses how Jesus' prophecies in the New Testament and other passages describe conditions and events that will occur during the last days, such as increased lawlessness, false prophets leading many astray, and difficult times.
3) It warns that scoffers will deny the promises of Jesus' return
O little town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee to-night.
For Christ is born of Mary,
And gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars, together
Proclaim the holy birth!
And praises sing to God the King,
And peace to men on earth.
How silently, how silently,
The wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of his heaven.
No ear may hear his coming,
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive him, still
The dear Christ enters in.
Where children pure and happy
Pray to the blessed Child,
Where misery cries out to thee,
Son of the mother mild;
Where charity stands watching
And faith holds wide the door,
The dark night wakes, the glory breaks,
And Christmas comes once more.
O holy Child of Bethlehem!
Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin and enter in,
Be born in us to-day.
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us,
Our Lord Emmanuel!
The document contains the purpose statement and beliefs of First Christian Church. It aims to evangelize others, edify believers, minister to those in need, and be a conscience to the community, all for the glory of God. It includes lyrics to hymns praising God for his love and salvation through Jesus Christ.
God is the sovereign ruler over all things. The document discusses different views of the afterlife such as universalism, annihilationism, and reincarnation. It asserts that heaven will be a physical place on a new earth with resurrected bodies, without sin or marriage. Hell is likened to Gehenna, an unclean place outside Jerusalem where garbage was burned, and is a place prepared for Satan and his demons. The kingdom of God and kingdom of heaven refer to Jesus' rulership over all, seen through worship of him in every culture, and life on the new earth without suffering.
The document discusses heaven and references from the Bible about the afterlife. It describes heaven as a place that will be both familiar yet unfamiliar, with animals, rivers, mountains and food, but in a greater form. The document cautions that salvation is only through Jesus Christ and faith in Him, and that after death comes judgment. It aims to comfort Christians by focusing on the hope of heaven.
The speaker identifies themselves as coming from Babylon, an ancient holy city known for its mud brick walls plated in gold and zinc, use of water clocks and festivals to ward off evil, sacrificing animals to please gods, and the Hanging Gardens built to please the queen. Babylon was home to the sun god Shamash and goddess of love and war Ishtar, with daily rituals cleansing temples and wealthy citizens making offerings. It was a place that had the Code of Hammurabi legal system with rights for women and slaves, and trusted physicians and exorcists who kept records in cuneiform writing in a culture with arranged marriages and marriage markets.
This document discusses the concept of God's kingdom as referenced in the Lord's Prayer petition "Your Kingdom Come." It explores what a kingdom is, whose kingdom is being referred to, and what God's kingdom entails. God's kingdom involves his rule over creation and in the hearts of men, bringing righteousness, peace and joy through the Holy Spirit. Jesus taught about the kingdom using parables, and that the kingdom will be fully realized when the righteous and wicked are separated at the end of the age.
Jonathan Edwards preached the sermon "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" in 1741 in Connecticut. The sermon emphasized that God will cast wicked men into Hell and that even good people who help others are not safe from God's wrath. Edwards warned that those still on Earth are not safe and must know that God remains angry with them, despite any chance given to repent their sins.
This passage from Revelation describes the fall of Babylon the Great. It summarizes that Babylon was a dwelling place of demons and unclean spirits that led the nations into immorality. Merchants grew rich from her sensuality. The passage calls for God's people to separate from her sins and warns that Babylon's plagues will come swiftly in a single day for her pride and sins. It describes the merchants and sea travelers mourning the loss of Babylon's wealth, while heaven and prophets are called to rejoice at God's judgment against her.
This document discusses themes of the afterlife and salvation through Jesus Christ. It references Bible verses that talk about how humanity was made for another world beyond this one, how one must have faith like a child to enter God's kingdom, and how Jesus provides mercy, forgiveness, and eternal life through his blood rather than animal sacrifices. The document emphasizes that salvation comes only through Jesus.
The document summarizes the key events depicted in the final chapters of Revelation:
1) Satan will be chained for 1000 years while the saints reign with Christ in heaven. 2) After 1000 years Satan will be released and deceive nations again before final judgment. 3) At the final judgment, all people both small and great will stand before God and be judged according to their works by what is written in the books, including the Book of Life. 4) Those not found in the Book of Life, along with Satan and his angels, will be destroyed in the lake of fire, marking the end of evil. 5) God will then make a new heaven and new earth with no more tears or pain where he will dwell with
The poem describes the origins of the speaker from ancient Egypt. In three sentences: The speaker comes from the fertile land along the Nile River, shaped by the deserts and seas, and home to the great pharaohs and ancient Egyptian civilization with its hieroglyphics, pyramids, and gods like Amon-Re and Osiris. The poem touches on the Old Kingdom, the reign of Hatshepsut, Egyptian trade networks, and the sun god Aton before concluding that after death the speaker's heart will be lighter than a feather, as in ancient Egyptian beliefs.
The document argues that Mecca is the biblical Mystery Babylon based on several points:
1) Several prophets including Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel refer to Babylon being located in the desert regions associated with Edom, which is modern day Saudi Arabia.
2) Revelation describes Mystery Babylon as a great city by the sea that engages in great wealth and trade, fitting Mecca as a trade center on the Red Sea.
3) The religious practices of Mystery Babylon are described as "sexual immorality" and embracing false gods, which the document asserts applies to the religion centered in Mecca.
4) Bible prophecies foretell Babylon's eventual destruction by fire, linking to the potential future
The prophet Daniel interprets Nebuchadnezzar's dream that is a warning against his own pride. God uses Daniel for the purpose of getting through the king because that's what God does. God's purpose in the world is his own glory; that is, to make himself known, and he will involve his people in accomplishing that.
The Israelites suffered oppression from the Midianites for seven years because of their sin. The Midianites invaded the land, destroying crops and leaving the Israelites impoverished. When the Israelites cried out to God for help, he sent a prophet to remind them that he had delivered them from Egypt and the Amorites. God then called Gideon, from the weakest clan, to save Israel from the Midianites. Though fearful, Gideon met with an angel of God and was reassured, building an altar called "The Lord is Peace."

Matthew 1:18-25 describes how Mary became pregnant with Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Joseph planned to divorce Mary quietly when he discovered she was pregnant, but an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him the child was conceived by the Holy Spirit and to not be afraid to take Mary as his wife. Joseph did as the angel instructed and took Mary as his wife, but they did not have marital relations until after Jesus was born. Joseph named the baby Jesus, which means "God saves", as he will save people from their sins.
The document summarizes passages from the book of John describing events surrounding Jesus' attendance at the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem. It describes how Jesus' brothers urged him to publicly demonstrate his miracles in Judea, though he initially remained in Galilee. At the feast, there was widespread whispering about Jesus and debate over whether he was the prophesied Messiah or a deceiver. When Jesus finally began teaching at the temple, the Jews were amazed at his learning despite lacking formal study.
Jesus sends two disciples ahead into a village to find a colt that has never been ridden. They are to untie it and bring it to Jesus, telling anyone who asks that the Lord needs it. The disciples find the colt as Jesus said and bring it to him. As Jesus rides into Jerusalem on the colt, the disciples praise God for all the miracles they have seen. Some Pharisees tell Jesus to rebuke the disciples, but Jesus says that if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out instead.
King Saul pursued David to kill him, and David found Saul alone in a cave where David had the opportunity to kill Saul but spared him. David then called out to Saul and humbly showed Saul the piece of his robe that he had cut to prove that he meant Saul no harm. David appealed to Saul to recognize that David was not guilty of wrongdoing or rebellion against him.
The document summarizes several passages from Luke 15 that recount the parable of the prodigal son. In the parable, a younger son asks his father for his inheritance and leaves home, squandering his wealth. He ends up impoverished and returns home in repentance. His father welcomes him back with open arms, demonstrating forgiveness and grace. The summary emphasizes that the father's reaction to his son was intentional and loving, showing grace by accepting him back without punishment, and that God invites us to respond to His love and forgiveness in the same way.
Paul writes a letter to the Ephesians identifying them as saints. He reminds them that as Christians, their identity and worth comes from being in Christ, not from what they have, duties, others, sufferings, or idolatry. As saints, they are precious in God's sight by position in Christ alone, not because of works or miracles. They are called to learn and grow as saints in practice by living in a way that makes believing in God easier for others.
There are not many things as wondrous to receive, or difficult to give, as the gift of forgiveness. However, in Christ we are made clean, no longer condemned, at peace with God, and called to forgive.
The passages call believers to live in a manner worthy of their salvation, maintaining unity through humility, patience, and love. They describe how Christians are given diverse spiritual gifts by Christ to equip the church and build one another up until unity in faith is reached. Living worthily involves actively participating in the church community through offering and using one's gifts to serve others.
These passages from Romans 8 discuss the role of the Holy Spirit for Christians and the identity and privileges of being a child of God. They state that those led by the Spirit are not controlled by sin but live righteously. The Spirit testifies that believers are adopted children of God who can call God "Father" and will inherit eternal life and glory. Being God's children through the Spirit means freedom from condemnation and a place in His family.
The document contains passages from Luke 22 describing disputes among Jesus's disciples about greatness. Jesus tells them the greatest should be like the youngest and one who serves. He promises them a kingdom but says Peter will deny knowing Jesus three times before the rooster crows. When the disciples say they have swords, Jesus says that is enough and it is written he will be numbered with transgressors. The document discusses how faith does not exempt one from evil and suffering, and some virtues are only learned through suffering, though God prays believers overcome trials rather than removing them. It encourages giving thanks in adversity to let God use difficulties for his purpose.
Jesus declares himself to be the light of the world. When the Pharisees challenge him, claiming his testimony is invalid, Jesus responds that his testimony is valid because he knows where he comes from and where he is going. He says his judgment is right because he acts with the Father. The Pharisees question his identity, but Jesus maintains that he speaks what the Father has taught him. Many in the crowd come to believe in him based on his teachings.
All the other feasts are dependent on Passover; only because Jesus became our Passover Lamb can we look forward to the resurrection, the Holy Spirit, the good news of the gospel, the atonement of sins and God tabernacled with His people.
The document summarizes passages from Acts 1 that describe Jesus' interactions with His disciples after His resurrection. It says that for 40 days Jesus appeared to His disciples, giving proofs that He was alive and speaking about God's kingdom. Jesus instructed His disciples to remain in Jerusalem until receiving power from the Holy Spirit. He told them they would receive power and would be His witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the entire world.

The document provides an overview and analysis of Revelation 17-18. It discusses how Revelation 17 portrays Babylon the Great as a woman riding the beast who symbolizes the evil world system that opposes God. Revelation 18 then describes the reality, reason, and response to Babylon's fall. The great city represents pride, self-indulgence, and reliance on wealth instead of God. Christians are called to separate themselves from Babylon's influence and rejoice in God's judgment against evil.
The document describes scenes from heaven and events leading up to Jesus's second coming as described in Revelation 19-20. It summarizes Heaven rejoicing over God's judgment on evil and the marriage of Jesus to his bride, the Church. It then describes Jesus returning with armies of saints to defeat evil forces and establish his thousand-year reign on earth, followed by Satan's final defeat and eternal punishment along with those whose names are not in the Book of Life.
This passage from Revelation 18 describes the fall of Babylon the Great. It depicts a mighty angel announcing with a loud voice that Babylon has fallen. The angel's message represents the "Loud Cry" given with the power of the Holy Spirit. Babylon is described as full of devils and a home for unclean birds, representing how it has rejected God and allowed Satan to take control. It warns God's people to separate themselves from Babylon before receiving her plagues. Babylon is judged by God and will face plagues, burning with fire, and its complete destruction for persecuting God's people throughout history.
In 2007 the congregation read through "The Message" New Testament by Eugene Peterson. This lesson is taken from the assigned reading from September 2-8-07
A continuation of the decoding of symbolic language to tell the story of the church’s persecution by Rome in the first century and her eventual victory.
There is a battle raging between Christ and Satan over humanity. We must choose to follow either Christ, our creator, or Satan, the deceiver. Satan tries to deceive people in many ways, especially by promoting independence from God, obedience to demons, and worship of the "man of sin" and his "image." All who receive the mark of the beast on their hand or forehead in order to buy or sell will be doomed forever.
This document provides an analysis and summary of key passages from Revelation 17-18 about the symbolic entity referred to as "Mystery Babylon."
1) Babylon represents the apostate church, worldly ungodly systems, and those who support them. 2) Believers are called to separate themselves from Babylon to avoid sharing in her sins and judgments. 3) Babylon's judgment comes suddenly and severely, bringing an end to the world's economic and social systems as well as the voices of unbelievers.
The document provides commentary on Revelation 17, which describes a mysterious woman sitting on a scarlet beast. It notes that a woman in Bible prophecy represents a church. It analyzes details about the woman's clothing and the name written on her forehead - "Mystery, Babylon the Great" - to symbolize a fallen or apostate church. The beast is described as full of blasphemy and is connected to prophecies of a power that opposes God and exalts itself, revealing it represents a kingdom influenced by Satan. The summary identifies the key symbols and their proposed meanings within the document's interpretation of Revelation 17.
The document describes John's vision of the new Jerusalem described in Revelation 21. John is shown the holy city coming down out of heaven as the bride of the Lamb, adorned for her husband. The city has twelve gates inscribed with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel and twelve foundations inscribed with the names of the twelve apostles. The city and its walls are made of precious jewels and gold. There is no temple because God and the Lamb are its temple. The glory of God and the Lamb provide light and the city will never know night. Only those written in the Lamb's book of life will enter.
This document provides an overview of false prophets and the biblical antichrist known as the beast. It discusses how various historical figures and religions have prepared the way for the eventual rise of the antichrist by promoting the deification or divinity of mankind. The antichrist is traced through several Old Testament prophecies in Daniel and Revelation and is described as opposing God, demanding worldwide worship, and persecuting believers before being defeated by Christ at His return.
The document provides an in-depth study of the biblical prophecies regarding the Second Coming of Christ and the Antichrist. It examines passages from the books of Daniel, John, Thessalonians and others to trace the origins and profile of the Antichrist. Key points include that the Antichrist will come before Christ's return, deceive many, and oppose God. He will exalt himself and demand to be worshipped before being defeated by Christ at His coming.

The document provides an overview and summary of Chapter 18 from the book. It begins with an angel proclaiming loudly that Babylon the great has fallen. The nations, kings, and merchants who committed sins with Babylon will weep and mourn her fall. Three groups are specifically mentioned as mourning - the kings of the earth, merchants, and sea traders. However, the holy apostles and prophets are told to rejoice, as God has avenged them. The chapter justified Babylon's fall due to her sins, and illustrated it by an angel casting a millstone into the sea, saying Babylon will be violently thrown down.

This document contains warnings of an impending nuclear attack on New York City by terrorists, as well as biblical passages and prophesies interpreted as predicting the destruction of New York. It includes dreams and visions received by individuals claiming to receive messages from God warning that New York will be destroyed as divine judgment for sin and failure to obey God. The document calls believers to fast and pray every Friday to contain Islamic terrorism and avert disasters, citing biblical passages about humbling oneself and turning from wickedness.
The document provides a summary of key events and themes in the book of Revelation:
1. John receives a series of visions from Jesus revealing future events including Satan's attacks on the church, God's judgment and destruction, and God and the church rejoicing in heaven.
2. Saints reign with Christ in heaven for 1,000 years before Satan's brief return and final destruction.
3. The righteous will dwell with God in heaven, where there is perfect fellowship, protection, and provision - represented by the holy city New Jerusalem descending from heaven.
4. The book emphasizes witnesses to its message - an angel, Jesus, John, and the Spirit and bride - and ends with final instructions,
The document discusses the history and lessons of Babylon through three iterations:
1. Babylon started as the Tower of Babel under Nimrod but was stopped by God confusing languages.
2. The ancient city of Babylon rose to power under kings like Nebuchadnezzar and influenced Israelite exile.
3. Revelation prophesies a final "Babylon" representing immorality, false religion, and persecution that will ultimately be destroyed by God.
The document discusses Jesus Christ's second coming as described in the Bible. It provides several passages that describe Christ returning from heaven on a white horse to judge the living and the dead. All people will be resurrected or gathered before Him and He will separate the righteous from the unrighteous, condemning sinners to eternal punishment but bringing the righteous into eternal life. The devil and those who follow him will be thrown into the lake of fire while Christ and His followers will begin their eternal kingdom.
This document discusses the seven churches mentioned in Revelation and how they represent seven phases of church history. It focuses on the church of Laodicea, representing the last church phase before the second coming of Jesus. Laodicea is described as lukewarm, indifferent, and in need of revival and reformation. The document outlines prophetic signs that will occur during the sealing of God's people, including a change in the US Constitution, Satan appearing as Christ, enforcement of Sunday laws, economic collapse, and the finding of the Ark of the Covenant. It emphasizes the need for God's end-time church to overcome lukewarmness and fully prepare for the events soon to take place.
The document cautions against glorying in wisdom, might, or riches. It advises that one should instead glory in understanding and knowing God, who exercises lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness. Several passages are cited that emphasize God's supremacy over human thoughts and ways, and that worldly treasures can be destroyed. The conclusion restates that true glory is found not in what one possesses but in knowing God.
Similar to Revelation part 22 (not all counted, counts revelation 18) (20)
To truly calculate the cost, you must consider both the cost of action and the cost of inaction not only for the near term but in the long term. Jesus calls us to a decision. Choose wisely.
Jesus warns his disciples about hypocrisy among religious leaders and tells them not to fear those who can kill the body. He instructs them not to fear people as much as God, who has authority over both body and soul. Jesus promises to acknowledge before God those who acknowledge him before men, but those who deny him will be denied. The Holy Spirit will give disciples words to say when they are brought before leaders to defend their faith.
Jesus responds to those accusing him of casting out demons by Beelzebul by pointing out the logical flaws in their argument. He lays out that a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand, and that if Satan is divided and casting people out of himself, his kingdom would collapse. Jesus further explains that if his exorcisms are by the power of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon them. He tells the crowds that whoever is not with him is against him. Jesus rebukes the generation seeking signs, saying the only sign given will be the sign of Jonah. He emphasizes the importance of hearing and keeping God's word for true blessing.
Jesus teaches his disciples about prayer in response to their request. He gives them a model prayer focusing on hallowing God's name, desiring his kingdom to come, and acknowledging dependence on him for daily provision and forgiveness. Jesus encourages prayer by reminding them of God's generosity like a father who provides for his children, and says God will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask. He emphasizes making prayer a priority and having the right priorities in prayer, such as honoring God and trusting in his provision.
Martha welcomed Jesus into her home but became distracted serving Him, while her sister Mary sat at His feet listening to His teaching. Martha complained to Jesus that Mary wasn't helping her, but Jesus said Mary chose the better part by spending time with Him rather than being distracted by many tasks. The passage emphasizes the importance of sitting at Jesus' feet to listen to Him over being busy doing things for Him without truly focusing on Him.
The seventy-two disciples returned from their mission joyfully saying that even demons were subject to them in Jesus' name. Jesus tells them that he saw Satan fall from heaven and that they have been given authority over all the power of the enemy. He says to rejoice not that spirits are subject to them, but that their names are written in heaven. Jesus rejoices that God has revealed these things to the disciples and not the wise and understanding. All things have been handed over to Jesus by God and no one knows the Son except the Father. Jesus tells the disciples that many prophets and kings desired to see and hear what they have seen and heard.
Jesus EXTENDS His ministry through those who answer His CALL. WHENEVER and WHEREVER He leads we go, WHATEVER His assignment we are to undertake. The mission was not LIMITED to the Twelve but EXTENDED through others. Anybody who responds to His call, ENTERS His MISSION.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

2. Revelation 18:1-2
After this I saw another angel coming down from
heaven. He had great authority, and the earth
was illuminated by his splendor. With a mighty
voice he shouted: ‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the
Great! She has become a home for demons and
a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every
unclean and detestable bird.

3. Revelation 18:3-4
For all the nations have drunk the maddening
wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth
committed adultery with her, and the merchants
of the earth grew rich from her excessive
luxuries.’ Then I heard another voice from
heaven say: ‘Come out of her, my people, so that
you will not share in her sins, so that you will not
receive any of her plagues;

for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has
remembered her crimes. Give back to her as she
has given; pay her back double for what she has
done. Mix her a double portion from her own
cup.

5. Revelation 18:7-8
Give her as much torture and grief as the glory
and luxury she gave herself. In her heart she
boasts, ‘I sit as queen; I am not a widow, and I
will never mourn.’ Therefore in one day her
plagues will overtake her: death, mourning and
famine. She will be consumed by fire, for mighty
is the Lord God who judges her.

6. Revelation 18:9-10
When the kings of the earth who committed
adultery with her and shared her luxury see the
smoke of her burning, they will weep and mourn
over her. Terrified at her torment, they will stand
far off and cry: ‘Woe! Woe, O great city, O
Babylon, city of power! In one hour your doom
has come!’

7. Revelation 18:11-12
The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn
over her because no one buys their cargoes any
more– cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones
and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk, and scarlet
cloth; every sort of citron wood, and articles of
every kind of ivory, costly wood, bronze, iron,
and marble;

9. Revelation 18:15-16
The merchants who sold these things and gained

linen, purple and scarlet, and glittering with gold,

10. Revelation 18:17-18
In one hour such great wealth has been brought
to ruin!’ Every sea captain, and all who travel by

from the sea, will stand far off. When they see
the smoke of her burning, they will exclaim, ‘Was
there ever a city like this great city?’

11. Revelation 18:19-20
They will throw dust on their heads, and with
weeping and mourning cry out: ‘Woe! Woe, O
great city, where all who had ships on the sea
became rich through her wealth! In one hour
she has been brought to ruin!’ ‘Rejoice over her,
O heaven! Rejoice, saints and apostles and
prophets! God has judged her for the way she
treated you.’

12. Revelation 18:21-22
Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size
of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, and
said, ‘With such violence the great city of
Babylon will be thrown down, never to be found
again. The music of harpists and musicians, flute
players and trumpeters, will never be heard in
you again. No workman of any trade will ever be
found in you again. The sound of a millstone will
never be heard in you again.

13. Revelation 18:23-24
The light of a lamp will never shine in you again.
The voice of the bridegroom and bride will never
be heard in you again. Your merchants were the

nations were led astray. In her was found the
blood of prophets and of the saints, and of all
who have been killed on the earth.’
