1 Samuel 19:3-4
I will go out and stand with my father in the field
where you are. I’ll speak to him about you and
will tell you what I find out. Jonathan spoke well
of David to Saul his father and said to him, ‘Let
not the king do wrong to his servant David; he
has not wronged you, and what he has done has
benefited you greatly.

1 Samuel 19:5
He took his life in his hands when he killed the
Philistine. The Lord won a great victory for all
Israel, and you saw it and were glad. Why then
would you do wrong to an innocent man like
David by killing him for no reason?’

1 Samuel 19:6-7

surely as the Lord lives, David will not be put to

You are who you are in part due to
the people you have called
FRIENDS
Let us not overlook the value of faithful friends as part of
our SPIRITUAL growth.
First, it helps if they LIKE you.
We have become too focused at times on QUANTITY and
lost sight of QUALITY friendships.
Faithful friends earn the right to tell
someone what they NEED to hear.
David’s rise in popularity stirred Saul’s JEALOUSY
One test of a faithful friend is they are not threatened by
your SUCCESS.
You need someone who has permission to tell you, ‘Be
on your GUARD.’
Faithful friends HAVE YOUR BACK.
Jonathan doesn’t stop with
warning David, he CONFRONTS
his father.
Friends celebrate your VICTORIES and walk with you
through TROUBLES.
Jonathan laid aside his AMBITIONS in order to help
David achieve his.
Faithful friends keep their PROMISES.
