Japanese Art Research Paper
After Japanese ports started to trade with the West, woodblock prints bearing Japanese artwork
were used by European artists for artistic inspirations. The prints were inexpensive and could easily
serve as souvenirs, making significant demand among European artists of the time. The masterful
use of color and imagination made the Ukiyo e prints extremely popular. At the same time, the
characteristics of Japanese art were markedly different from the traditional European forms of
aesthetic expression. The asymmetrical compositions, strong diagonals, elongated figures, and the
flatness of surface influenced the Post Impressionist age heavily. European painters, for instance,
Claude Monet, Paul Gauguin, Vincent Van Gogh all admired and managed to... Show more content

In 19th century France, the city was steeped in modernity. As Baudelaire said, the painter should
capture the transitory and eternal aspects of modern life. The daily life and bourgeois
entertainment turned into their sources of inspirations, paralleling to the subject matter of Ukiyo e
prints. For instance, the cafГ© and nightclub of Paris were the same as the teashops and brothels in
old Edo. These innovative works of art inspired the new generation artists in France to seek for an
alternative aesthetic experience in the modern period. The next part of the paper will use Henri
Toulouse Lautrec as representative example illustrating the immense influence of Japanese prints
on the Post Impressionism

The Simpsons on Television Essay
The Simpsons How does a television series keep going in this time of ever changing network
schedules and shows that grow stale after twelve weeks?
The Simpsons have not only lasted, but it has also become a staple of
American life. Many tribute this longevity to the witty and hilarious satire that is present in every
episode. By using incongruity, sarcasm, exaggeration, and other comedic techniques, The Simpsons
satirizes most aspects of ordinary life, from family, to TV, to religion, achieving the true essence of
satire.
Homer Simpson is the captivating and hilarious satire of today s quot;Everyman. quot;
With each passing season, Homer has emerged more and more as the central character in the series.

I want to see you both fighting for your parents love quot;!
Because it is so exaggerated, Homer s quote is a very funny contradiction of
Marge s. Though many parents do cross the line in pushing their child to succeed, Homer overly
exaggerates it when he says, quot;I want to see you both fighting for your parent s love! quot;
Marge represents the quot;good quot; parent, as she so often does, and Homer becomes the extreme
satire of the quot;bad quot; parent.
He also says he doesn t want his kids going easy on each other because they re family. This is in
direct contrast of the quot;family first quot; mentality most parents try to instill in their
children. Instead, Homer wrongly puts winning ahead of anything else. There is a lot of
incongruity in Homer s actions as well because one does not expect a middle aged father to act
so childish. With exaggerated characters, the townspeople of Springfield satirize the stereotypes
that the media so often depicts. Police Chief Clancy Wiggum is the corrupt and unintelligent
head of the police force. His physical appearance alone is a satire of the stereotypical officer. He is
very fat, always eating donuts and assorted artery clogging foods, and his nose bares a striking
resemblance to that of a pig. In an act of comedy only possible in cartoons,
Wiggum s round, upturned nose with large nostrils is unlike anyone else s in
Springfield. Aside from his physical features, his questionable character

Character Analysis Of The Darkness In Emma By Jane Austen
Jane Austen begins the novel Emma by stating, Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever, and rich,
with a comfortable home and happy disposition, seemed to unite some of the best blessings of
existence, and had lived nearly twenty one years in the world with very little to distress or vex her
(1) immediately giving readers the impression that Emmais a young woman whom the readers
should respect and grow to love throughout the novel. As we continue reading, however, we learn
that while Emma has a respectable reputation and a circle of people who love her and want the
best for her, she is extremely flawed. In the article, The Darkness in Emma, Anita Soloway states,
for Emma, beauty, cleverness, and wealth prove to be mixed blessings at best, for... Show more

Emma is selfish, unable to see reality as it truly is, and is impulsive, yet, because of her
respectable standing in the social class, people love her and want the best for her and think
highly of her. While discussing Emma with Mr. Knightley, Mrs. Weston states, With all dear
Emma s little faults, she is an excellent creature. Where shall we see a better daughter, or a kinder
sister, or a truer friend? No, no; she has qualities which may be trusted; she will never lead any
one really wrong; she will make no lasting blunder; where Emma errs once, she is in the right a
hundred times (25). While her opinion on Emma does recognize that she has faults and isn t
perfect, those flaws are basically overlooked. Mrs. Weston seems to believe that Emma is a
blessing to everyone she encounters, and even when she creates an issue, it s acceptable because
it s assumed she ll do something great to compensate up for it. This definitely shows what Emma
s reputation is like, and how the people close to her view her. One of Emma s main flaws is the
fact that she is extremely impulsive with her actions, and she doesn t stop to think about what she s
doing until the damage is already done. This happens multiple times throughout the novel,
especially when Emma tries to play matchmaker. This is partially due to the fact that she is unable
to see reality clearly, which is what happens during her attempt at bringing Harriet and Mr. Elton
together.

Juvenile Delinquent Crimes
What is considered a juvenile delinquent? Criminal courts would say that a juvenile delinquent is
a child that is between the ages of 7 to 14 years of age. Nowadays, 14 year old children can be
charged with certain crimes that may be handled like adults. Today, many states determine that a
child is considered to be a juvenile until the age of 18; however, in some states they set limits at 16
and 17 years of age. Under the age of 18, many offenses are considered juvenile delinquency. We
see that crimes that are committed by juveniles have increased with violent crimes, drug crimes,
gangs, and many more. With this in mind, some may argue to charge the juvenile as an adult based
on the seriousness of the crime. These delinquent acts are considered to be crimes that may be
committed by adults or even... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Delinquency is crimes that are committed by youths; as well as, adults. These delinquencies
include; violent crimes, property crimes, criminal homicide, drug related offenses, and disturbances
to the public order. Status offenses illegal crimes for youths but not adults, these types of crimes
are beyond parents or guardians control. Status offenses include; truancy, parental disobedience,
and runaways. 23% of offenses committed by females are status offense verses the 4% of boys.
Both are juvenile court jurisdictions; however, more serious crimes may be subjected to criminal
court and even prison. Multiple factors exist through understanding what leads a juvenile to
delinquent behavior. Biological, sociological, and psychological factors hold high merits in
explaining crime to delinquency. Some also study that age definitely factors closely to offending
behaviors. Children with traumatic backgrounds can exhibit symptoms such as anxiety and/or
depression. This typical behavior amongst juveniles is overlooked; which in return can cause

Rasputin Influence
Rasputin played a part in the fall of the royal family but he was not the main reason. The Tsar
had no one to support and protect his family due to not seeing to civilians needs. The overthrow
of the Tsarist government was the ending of the oppression and tyranny. Rasputin however did
manipulate his ability to influence government decisions. The Romanov Empire in Russia was a
dynasty that had been in power for over three hundred years and sadly ended with the last
Romanov family being murdered. Rasputin, although he was not royalty, he was close to the
family and had a hand in their downfall but was not the main reason for the downfall (Source J).
There was already dissatisfaction and corruption within the ruling of Russia before Rasputin
arrived. Rasputin Gregory Yefimovich was a peasant as well as a self proclaimed holy man. He was

His ideas about important issues were independent because nothing really influenced those
ideas, he had immaturity and lacked understanding (source I). This affected his ability to govern
Russia because he never gained a sense of confidence and self reliance. Nicholas believed he
was not good enough to rule Russia. He felt as though he didn t have the abilities or the
experience, and with his lack of political knowledge (source H).His lack of confidence and
weakness allowed him to be governed by other individuals. It must be concluded that although
Rasputin did have an influence in the increasing discontent felt by many Russians and their loss
of faith in Nicholas ability to rule, there were many other reasons for the downfall of the
Romanovs. Among these were the fact Nicholas was not a strong leader to begin with this is
proven by the defeat in the war, the Tsarina s influence over him, his irrational decision to go fight
in the war and is inability to provide social, economic and political instability for

The journey to the Pacific Northwest was one of the most interesting and thrilling pioneer
expeditions in history. Though this adventure ended up being successful there is no question that
there were some moments that could have ended very horribly with multiple deaths. This was the
case because there were a few times on their trip where their basic human needs just couldn t be
met. Times like this called for everyone to do anything they could to stay alive and quite often this
wasn t very pleasant. This is why when times got tough they needed to remember to make the right

Duality In Cannery Row
Cannery Row: A Literary Excavation on Duality Cannery Row is a town located in Monterey,
California. Despite being small, dirty and crowded, it is a well functioned town and is home to
people from different walks of life. In the novel s prologue, John Steinbeck wrote the following:
Its inhabitants are, as one man once said, whores, pimps, gamblers, and sons of bitches by which
he meant Everybody and [have] the man looked through another peephole he might have said:
Saints and angels and martyrs and holy men, and he would have meant the same thing
(Steinbeck 1). He basically comments that the difference in viewpoints given the same event
results from the power of perspective and duality observed in people. One might see Cannery
Row as a low down place while the others might see Cannery Row as a lively, vigorous town.
One would see a character s actions disputable while the others would see their behaviors
admirable. The viewpoints of the readers and the way characters behave at various times explain
the fact that Cannery Row and its inhabitants possess qualities crossing good and evil.
Cannery Row begins with the character Lee Chong, a small grocery owner that supplies the
town. Lee was depicted as a kind and generous man, and his good nature was reflected through his
appearance and personality. Steinbeck states that [his] mouth was full and benevolent and the
flash of gold when he smiled was rich and warm (Steinbeck 7). This simple passage gives us a clear

Taking a Look at the Renaissance
Renaissance is a generally accepted name for the era of great change in culture, art, and architecture
which took place in the fifteenth and sixteenth century Italy, and then left its mark on the culture of
the whole of Europe. During the Renaissance there was a significant shift of universally recognized
values. They began to appreciate and recognize the creative possibilities of a human mind, which
entailed a lot of consequences. One of them was the spectacular development of the architecture,
and the new role of architecture and the architect in society. New forms of secular buildings such
as villas, palaces, houses and town halls were exemplified, but most of building activity was
centered on sacred buildings like the famed Tempietto by Donatano Bramante. Tempietto is a prime
example of Renaissancearchitecture because not only it represents key characteristics like the
simplicity of the composition, symmetry within structure, but it also resurrects precedents of
Christian and pagan origin which were a baseline for many designs during that period.
For many reasons the Renaissance began in Italy. In addition to the fact that there existed a rich
artistic tradition, Italy was the richest country in Europe at that time. Cities were in bloom, rich
merchants and bankers wanted to glorify their names ordering portraits, building magnificent
palaces, decorating family chapels. And although the mere presence of such a generous patronage
did not have to guarantee the creation of

Pros And Cons Of Single Transferable Voting System
Every three years the Australian Senate is reelected using the single transferable voting system.
In this system, voters rank the list of candidates by order of preference to fill spots in a multi
member district. Then a quota is set based on the number of votes cast and the number of Senate
seats to fill. If any candidate receives more votes than the quota, they receive a seat. Any surplus
votes are then transferred to second choice candidates to see if they reach the quota, and so on until
all Senate seats are filled. In reality, single transferable votingis not a perfect electionsystem.
Because it does not follow the independence of irrelevant alternatives criteria of Arrow s theorem,

The Pressure Of The Canadian Nation
The pressure placed upon multicultural often leads to questioning of its value and usefulness in
building the Canadian nation. there have been far too many questionable call of ethics on behalf
of the government in regardless to who has taken, or not been able to take up for role in the
country. Historically we see this negative connotation follow distinct groups of people. Notably:
Aboriginal with residential schools (thought interesting because they are now seen as founding
peoples, yet the last residential school was only closed in the early 90s), the Chinese head tax,
Japanese intermittent camps, the turning away of Jewish individuals during WWII. It becomes
difficult to see how some of those marginalized or minority groups in Canadaare able to find
themselves, even today, in an inclusive, equal and democratic society when multiculturalismin
public discourse often hold onto old or stereotypical understandings. It continues to act as an
ongoing point of contention because of the lack of historical knowledge Canadians have, as well as
the increasing lack of engagement day to day contemporary politics and national happenings. It acts
as an ignorance, that ultimately has consequences on the nations moral as well as its multicultural
policies. In order to progress as a society and nation, it becomes increasingly difficult to build the
foundation on old understandings and not re contextualize group and national identities in a 21st
century context (Leung 1 2). Leung notes

Essay On Organ Donation
Organ donation is when a person authorizes an organ or any biological tissue of the human body
to be surgically remove while the donor is still alive or after death. Organs and tissues that are
transplantable will be removed in a surgical procedure and will be determine if they are suitable
and can be used for transplantation. An organ transplantation is a surgical procedure in which an
organ is removed from the donor s body and placed in the recipient s body. Organ donor is
someone who is giving an organ or tissue to the recipient who is in need of a transplant while the
beneficiary of the organ that will be donated from the organ donor is called the recipient. There are
two kinds of organ donation: living donation and deceased donation. Living donation is when the
organ donor is still alive while deceased donation is when the donation takes place after death.
Organ donation has been going on for centuries. The very first successful living donor transplant
took five and a half hours at Brigham Hospital in Boston in December 23, 1954. The operation
was led by Dr. Joseph Murray along with Dr. David. The first organ donor was Ronald Herrick.
He donated one of his kidneys to his identical twin brother, Richard Herrick. Richard was dying
from a chronic nephritis, an inflammation of the kidneys. As a matter of fact, Ronald was a living
related donor. That means the organ comes from a blood relative such as parent, brother or sister.
Later on, the successful operation led Dr.

How Does Elie Wiesel Lose Faith In Night
3 April, 2013
H English 10
Period 1
Faith is Lost in the Night The horrible accounts of the holocaust are vividly captured by Elie
Wiesel in Night, an award winning work by a Holocaust survivor. It describes his time in the
Holocaust and helps the reader fully understand the pain he went through. In the text, Elie
continuously mentions how he is losing his faith to god. It is evident that he has nearly, if not
completely lost his faith during the events of the holocaust. In the memoir, Night, Elie Wiesel s faith
changes because of the absence of God, the dehumanization of the prisoners, and all of the death
that surrounds him. A main factor to the loss of Elie s faith is the absence of God. Many times in
the memoir, Elie is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was then beaten by some others and eventually died of a blow to the head. This caused
turmoil in Elie s life because all of his faith and will to live stemmed from his father. After his
father s death he had nothing to look forward to and nothing to be faithful for. Because of this, he
lost all of his faith and will to live. It is remarkable that Elie was able to survive without any faith
because that is what pushed him to live on. Death was the prominent reason Elie lost his faith in
the memoir. The absence of God, the dehumanization of the prisoners, and all of the death that
surrounds him causes Elie Wiesel to lose faith in the memoir Night. Once Elie knew that god had
betrayed him and the other Jews, he began to lose his faith. After being tortured to an unbelievable
extent and treated like dogs he lost yet even more faith. Finally, when his father, his source of
faith, dies he completely loses all hope and will to live. Elie s faith changed drastically from the
beginning to the end of the memoir because he had to live through the horrors of the

Stuxnet Virus
According to counterterrorism czar Richard Clarke, Stuxnet was a weaponized malware computer
worm. Stuxnet was launched in mid 2009, it did major damage to Iran s nuclear program in 2010
and then spread to computers all over the world (Clarke, 2012).
Type of Breach
The Stuxnet is a computer worm, it is a digital ghost with countless lines of code... it was able to
worm its way into Iran s nuclear fuel enrichment facility in Natanz, Iran (Clarke, 2012). A worm is
a program that spreads copies of itself through a network and a worm can also spread copies of

VirusBlokAda reported the vulnerability to Microsoft and Microsoft named the malware Stuxnet
from a combination of file names (.stub and MrxNet.sys) found in the code (Zetter, 2011). One of
the Stuxnet s driver files used a valid signed certificate stolen from RealTek Semiconductor, a
hardware maker in Taiwan, in order to trick the systems into thinking the malware was a trusted
program from RealTek (Zetter, 2011). Internet authorities quickly revoked the certificate. But
another Stuxnet driver was found using a second certificate; this new certificate was stolen from
JMicron Technology, a circuit maker in Taiwan that was coincidentally or not headquartered in the
same business park as RealTek (Zetter, 2011).
The experts said that the virus was designed to target Simatic WinCC Step7 software; which is an
industrial control system made by the German conglomerate Siemens. The system was used to
program controllers that drive motors, valves and switches in everything from food factories and
automobile assembly lines to gas pipelines and water treatment plants (Zetter, 2011). This happens
to be the same software that was used at Natanz facility. The Stuxnet virus looked for industrial
control systems and then altered the code in them to allow the attackers to take control of these
systems without the operators knowing (The Stuxnet Worm: Symantec). In other words, the

What Were The Implications Of The United States...
The Great War, later dubbed as the First World War , hadn t really piqued the interest of the United

Central Powers (especially Germany) towards the United States also grew. Though with the

Not only that, but with the arms race that was happening, a lot of countries began to feel
threatened by the increasing powers of other nations. For example, Germany quickly trying to gain

alliances such as the Triple Alliance that had threatened France. There were also a lot more causes
that also contributed to World War 1, but amongst them all, the one that was probably the most
important was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The reason as to why it was and is
the most important cause to World War Iwas how much of a propulsion it had on the European
countries to cause World War I in the first place. To start off, the assassination of the Archduke was
by a member of a group called The Black Hand who were Serbian nationalists. During that time
Russia had supported these Serbian Nationalists, and Austria Hungary deeply hated them. This
assassination thus causes an ultimatum from Austria Hungary to Serbia (which then gets rejected),
to which Austria Hungary responded back with a declaration of war against Serbia. Russia then
tells Serbia that they ll protect Serbia (since they support them) and Germany states that they ll

Colonial Avoidance Of Duties
How did the British attempt to handle colonial avoidance of duties? While reading chapter I
found myself comparing America to a teenage girl and Britain to a mother who is struggling to
keep her child undercontrol. I think I felt this way because America really hated being told what to
do by their mother country. The catalyst that eventually led to the eroding relationship between the
two entities really was the French and Indian War because Britain was left with a giant debt while
America was left with the satisfaction of winning and more land than ever. Britain called for
stricter rule of colonial lands this angers the colonists because they believe these actions go against
their rights as English citizens. Britain first tried to rein in control with the Proclamation of 1763
which prohibited white settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains. They followed this with the
Quartering Acts which required all colonists to provide supplies and barracks for soldiers. This
really infuriated colonists who in turn acted like teenagers. They paid no mind to what Britain
proclaimed and moved to those lands anyway.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As to be expected this angered colonists who would express their anger through petitions which
were sent to royal authorities and ignored. This is the epitome of a mother daughter relationship.

the daughter argues back, vehemently trying to get her mother to change her mind ,which the mother

The Radio During World War II
The radio is one of the most influential pieces of technology ever invented. From political
debates to Taylor Swift s latest hit, with the help of the radio, society stays informed on a
plethora of topics. Freddie Mercury wasn t lying when he said, and everything I had to know, I
learned it on my radio. In almost every country in the world, there is at least one radio station
used to broadcast news to it s people. Since the creation of the FM radio, it has been used to
reach out to people over a certain area and keep them informed about the society they live in.
During the 1930s and the 1940s, the radio played a very important role in history; it was a tool

America, Germany, and Great Britain owned one to help them stay up to date on the events

not so golden for people around the world. Roosevelt, Churchill, and Hitler were all leaders of

leading her to be the patron as apparent. At the age of 16, St Catherine had previously
disregarded marriage, as she envisioned mystical experiences seeing guardian angels, transforming
her into a brilliant minded young woman even though she was not supported with formal
education. Since going against her mothers wishes of her 23rd daughter, St Catherine was left

To My Dear And Loving Husband By Anne Bradstreet
In, To My Dear and Loving Husband, by Anne Bradstreet, we see that this poem is about a
woman that loves her husband. Love conquers all right? The overall tone of this work comes off
as love. Bradstreet shares many ways of her love with us and she wants us to know that her love is
going to be as strong when they are no more living on this earth. Anne Bradstreet expresses to the
audience her lovefor her husband in different tones. Throughout the poem, we see that Bradstreet
is comparing her love to water, and gold; but in the end is that enough? The tone of each excerpt
affects the whole message being given in, To My Dear and Loving Husband. Anne loves God, but
she also loves her husband. On line ten she says, The heavens reward thee manifold,... Show more

We see all of these throughout the poem. The passion is shown when she is comparing their
love to gold. I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold, or all the riches that the East doth
hold (226). She thinks her love for her husband is worth more then all of the rivers, creeks, lakes,
and gold in the whole world. Their love could not fill oceans. Also in, If ever two were one, then
surely we (226). She needs his love and she can not live without it. The writer thinks they could
be one. It is interesting that a Puritan would write such a love poem. Puritans are supposing to
have a relationship with God. I am surprised that she is writing something with so much emotion
in it. On line nine she states, Thy love is such I can no way repay (226). She means that the love
that her husband gives her is passionate and emotional, that there is no way that she could ever
repay him. She wants to share how great her and her husbands chemistry is and that is
endearing, because it is inspiring love. Another tone would be from Nor ought but love from thee,

endearing love. Then while we live, in love let s so persevere, that when we live no more, we may

The Importance Of A Simple War Game On A Grid
Description: In this project, I paired up with Ryan Thomson to design a game with about 15
minute time limit. The prompt was to make a simple war game on a grid. At the beginning, we
just came up with some simple rule to begin the game because we knew that we will improve the
rule after we played the game. One of the most important that I learned during I was working on
this project is that playable games take time and testing. It is okay to start with a simple game
idea, and we will improve on it later. Out first draft games were expected to suck, which is going
to be a lot of error and unclear rule, and it also won t be able to play through the end. It helps that
we did not put too much pressure on ourselves. The war game is a common structure with grid
movement Mechanism on the board games. It has grid on board, and all the objects can move
along with the line in many directions.
Materials Required:

side.

Pogroms according to OED, is an organized massacre of a particular ethnic group. Additionally,
pogrom is a word Russian which basically means to wreak havoc, to demolish violently.[iv]
Therefore, it can easily inferred from the definition of Pogroms how the Igbo people began to feel
insecure and unsafe in Nigeria after the counter coup and government sponsored pogroms. For
instance, Achebe in his book, There was a Country writes that the July 1966 counter coup and the
pogroms against the Igbo people, killed over thirty thousand civilian men, women and children
were slaughtered, hundreds of thousands were wounded, maimed and violates, their homes and
property looted and burned and no one asked any questions. [v]This statement of Achebe clearly
illustrates how because of the horrific counter coup and the government implemented pogrom
policy against the Igbo people have generated doubts in Igbo people s mind on their stand whether
one united and peaceful Nigeria can actually exist or not. Also, this statement again emphasizes
the fact that how the mass violence and murders of Igbo people escalated the tensions between the
Igbos and other Nigerians groups and tribes, which eventually led to emergence in the Biafra s
liberation movement among the Igbo people. Moreover, Achebe writes, ethnic riots happens
everywhere in the world. But in this particular case a detailed plan for mass killing was
implemented by the government the army, the police the very people who were there to protect life
and property. [vi] This statement of Achebe further indicates how when the Igbo people began to
see that their own government is planning on exterminate them, the anti Nigerian feelings began to
emerge in the Igbo people. It can be even said that at that point the Igbo

Merika, land of the free and home of the brave. America is one of the strongest countries in the
world, even though we only have the second largest military. I think America needs to change.
America needs to change because we need a bigger punishment for rapists and murderers, we need
better gun control, and we need a stronger military.
First, America needs to change the way we punish rapists and murderers. I think we need to give
rapists and murderers a longer or harsher punishment. The way we punish rapists and murderers is
too easy for what they did to their victims. Murderers should have the same things happen to them
as what they did to their victims. Rapists should have life time in jail. America would be a better

can be found throughout the country and even in most Japanese homes. Dissimilarly to other
religions, there is no set time to visit shrines. People set out on their own schedule or when festivals

The Time Of Cholera, By Florentino Ariza
Nostalgia is one of the most potent emotions in the human psyche. The impulse to romanticize an
idealized past is an inclination that most people have felt at one time or another. Sometimes,
revisiting a familiar place can evoke memories from the far removed past and trigger an intense
longing for another time. These feelings can often affect people more strongly than the actual event
did. As a result, nostalgia can often cause people to interpret reality in distorted, unhealthy ways. In
his novel Love in the Time of Cholera, MГЎrquez tells the story of Florentino Ariza, who attempts
to win the love of Fermina Daza solely on the strength of the brief relationship they shared during
their youth. The two people who find each other in the fading twilight of their lives, however, are
completely different individuals from the young lovers seeking idealized constructs. MГЎrquez
depicts the power nostalgia has to alter his characters reflections on their own youth, their
relationships with one another, and on a society, and way of life, that lives on only in their
memories. The way MГЎrquez s characters view and relate to one another is distorted by their
nostalgia. As they grow older, they often grown disenchanted with the illusions they cherished in
their youth. Florentino s adolescent relationship with Fermina is one that shapes the entirety of his
adult life, and simultaneously prevents him from experiencing a genuine connection with the
woman he claims to love. From the very

Just you know, cranberry juice is acidic. Despite the whole alkaline / acidic myth, we recommend
using cranberry juice as part of a healthy diet. The reason for this is that our urine should be acidic.
This means that our kidneys are working properly and filter toxins.
Acidic nature also helps to reduce bacteria in the urethra, there is almost no chance of being
infected in a healthy, acidic urine. It only happens when processed foods, fake alkaline water, and
bad dosage are bombarded on our bodies, which are unable to keep our urine away from the
bacteria.

Widening Income Inequality
Inequality has increased within the most advanced and emerging markets and developing countries
(EMDCs), a phenomenon that has garnered considerable attention with President Obama calling
widening income inequality the defining challenge of our time. Irrespective of culture, religion and
ideology, inequality concerns and affects everyone. Inequality can serve as an indication of the
shortage of income mobility and opportunity―a reflection of the perpetual disadvantage for
certain sectors of society. Increasing inequality also has serious implications for macroeconomic
stability and economic growth, it can concentrate political and decision making power in the hands

Inequality affects long term growth and cuts short the benefits such growth can bring about through
the multiplier effect. So, the need to reduce inequality is apparent. The more progressive the tax is,
the more effective it can be to reduce inequality. Progressivity could be strengthened by cutting back
on tax expenditures that benefit mostly top income groups (e.g. tax relief on mortgage interest). In
addition, removing other tax reliefs would increase equity and allow a growth enhancing cut in
marginal labour income tax rates. It would also decrease tax avoidance instruments available for
high income earners. Moreover, we have concluded that inheritance tax is deduced to be much more
useful in reducing inequality. Therefore, rising inequality warrants the imposition of higher income

Free Speech Persuasive Speech
What is free speech? Does the term free speech cover offensive words? Painful ones? Words that
disrespect others? What about objectionable, or even wrong beliefs? When is speech illegal?
What is exactly meant by free speech? According to Rampell, the term free speech includes hate
speech , and is therefore protected by the first amendment (np). This means that even messages we
don t like, agree with, feel uncomfortable about, or even are disgusted by, are legal. Unfortunately,
many college students consider harmful words an assault, and some students believe that such
verbal attacks can and should be met with violence (French np). Students and speakers today are
discriminated against in classrooms and other scenes where free speech and debateshould be
especially cherished. In 2017 alone, there have been multiple riots born of originally peaceful
protests. Students in Middlebury College in Vermont revolted at a peaceful debate with far right
Charles Murray. While Murray tried to reach his building, a mob formed, forcing him and his
debate partner, Allison Stanger, to move to another building (Beinhart np). When Murray and
Stanger tried to leave, they and the car they were in were attacked by students. The leftist Stanger
was sent to the emergency room because she tried to protect the guest (Fatzick np). In Berkeley,
California, students were up in arms, wanting to prevent Milo Yiannopoulos from speaking. Their
haste to silence a man they disagreed with led to a huge disaster. In the streets, fellow classmates
were attacked. One student who supported President Trump was brutally beaten, and an innocent
bystander who claimed to be Muslim was assaulted for looking like a Nazi (Ramaiyer np). Others
were beset upon as well, with pepper spray, matches, and baseball bats. In total, only one person was
arrested (French np). Unless this one person attacked this many people and businesses, it s safe to
assume that dozens of perpetrators have gone unpunished for the crime of hurting a human being!
This free speech is not protected under the First Amendment. People are hurting other people.
Another time Mr. Yiannopoulos attempted to give a speech, protesters rudely barged into the
lecture hall, interrupting the

Similarities Between Han Feiizi And Confucianism
Confucius vs. Han Feizi Philosophy Paper
Confucius philosophy is a lot better than Han Feizi s. This is because it allows Chinese to live a
great life but still follow the law. Confucius was able to break down the problems that people were
facing and that helped a lot. The Chinese were ready for change after the Zhou Dynasty fell and
Confucius was able to come up with a solution that solved that major problem and it worked out
perfectly. Confucianism was not the only philosophy introduced at the time though, Han Feizi
established a philosophy too called Legalism. Confucianism is better than Legalism because it
allows Chinese to live a good life and still be happy people.
Confucianism is based off of five main concepts. The first concept is JEN: The virtue of virtues .
This concept states the goodness of the human spirit. The idea that mankind is bonded together
as brother and sister, the ideal relationship between human beings. There are people like us all
around the world that have some type of disorder and are not treated right and are made fun of. It
is very wrong to judge somebody because of their disorder and JEN states the golden rule, Do not

great impact to people and their employers. As HR Magazine author Nancy Hatch Woodward

Back injuries also cause a significant loss of productivity. HR Magazine author Nancy Hatch

employers are estimated to be $7.4 billion a year (57). Back injuries account for significant
economic burden on compensation systems. Section VII: Chapter 1: of the OSHA Technical

The lyrics express Guthrie s belief that the working class should have the same rights as the rich.
He very proudly carried the torch of singing songs about the American worker. Woody Guthrie s
music was not written down, but instead sung, performed, and taught completely by memory.
The structure of this song is easy and memorable, using an ACAB format, which repeats the
beginning of the melody (A section) for the third line. There was a certain Americana aspect to
his folk music. He was a migrant farmer traveling as a country singer, using only his guitar and
voice (occasionally using a harmonica) in his performances. He created songs from the sights he
saw as he traveled all over the USA as a country singer, and spoke out against the lack of fairness
and justice of capitalism and poor treatment of blue collar workers. He preached that his folk
music was not just something that was made just to sell and make money , it was intensively
focused on political and worldly events.
Nat King Cole s Unforgettable released in 1952. Nat King Cole was widely accepted among
white households, despite his ethnicity. He was widely known for his soft, calming, incandescent,
baritone voice. He was originally a jazz pianist and he mostly performed in jazz and big band
genres which allowed him to break through the racial barrier with the white community. His trio
was made up of piano, bass and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Smartphones
Are You As Smart as A Cell Phone? Did you know, in 2011, a boy from Norway used his cell
phone to play a heavy metal song by Megadeth to escape from wolves? This strange story
demonstrates the many unexplored uses for cell phones. Although there are many advantages to
using a cell phone for social, entertainment and safety purposes, there are equally as many
disadvantages. To start, there are a multitude of social advantages in owning a smartphone. In past
years, teenagers had to share landlines with the rest of the family, so phone calls were infrequent
and carefully monitored. Today, smartphones are either always in a tweens hand or lap. And
whether beeping some strange noise or vibrating, the youth is in constant touch with their peers.
Group texts, snapchat, and Instagram are just a few of the methods that these children stay
hooked into each other s lives. Of course, the disadvantages are that if one has no friends, it will
make one feel terrible and isolated not to be included in the virtual conversations. Another problem
is that research shows that a lack of practice hampers many teenagers face to face social skills such
as recognizing body language or having an effective conversation. Correspondingly, communication
by texts can be so brief that misunderstandings occur, which is why the development of emojis has
been so successful. A psychologist whose focus is the effect of technology on people says, Digital
communication has a tendency to be impersonal. Emoji

Starwood Hotel and Resorts Call Center Networking
Starwood Hotel and Resorts Call Center Networking Starwood Hotels and resorts is one of the
world s largest hotel and leisure companies. The company owns thousands of Hotels and Resorts
as well as seven call centers in which help keep everything running smoothly for the company. Of
course this means there is an expansive network working to keep all this information flowing from
every hoteland call center. This paper will focus on the network of the call center in Lancaster,
California in which I used to work at as a customer service representative. First the paper will give
an overview of the company. Then, a depiction of the network that is being used by the call center
will be explained.

The IVR technology used for the call centers specific needs is called Telephony Infrastructure as
stated by the Voxeo (2009) website Telephone lines for IVR can be standard analog lines, digital
T1, or digital ISDN lines. These lines are connected on one side to the IVR platform and, on the
other, to call switching equipment including Telco switches, Voice over IP gateways, and
corporate PBX s; or in some cases, directly to call centers via an ACD. I recall one day when
none of the computers were working we had to write everything down manually then input the
information in as soon as the network was live once again. This is how I narrowed down which
kind of topology that the Lancaster call center was using. The wiring of the call center is most
likely wired with Fiber Optic cables. This is mainly due to the fact that the call center is located in
a downtown area surrounded by many electrical devices that could cause interference with their
network. The bandwidth is extremely high with heavy use of the network throughout the building
so fiber optic cabling would be needed in order to provide the call center with exactly what is
needed to maintain communication.
In conclusion, this paper has given an overview of the network for Starwood Hotels and Resorts
network at their Lancaster, CA location. First, an explanation of the network provided for the
training station was given. Then a depiction of the live network in which

Roman Catacombs Research Paper
This report will mainly be about the Roman Catacombs, I will also talk about how they came
about, what they are primarily used for, and also how these things go back thousands of years.
Catacombs are underground, which is a city of the dead with different passages with tombs in
the side. Roman had a law that stated that no one can be buried in the walls of Rome itself.
Catacombs are made out of different soils, these soils are solid and hard, they needed them to
last forever so the people won t get destroyed. It is astonishing on how they are still around today
and you can go on tours to see these catacombs. This soil is still around today and for the most
part still together in several catacombs. These catacombs go on and on for about 350 miles of

The walls, ceilings, and catacombs are made out of plaster, and they also used paint to decorate
them. This plaster last so many years and it was made very well and sturdy to hold thousands of
people. In the catacombs there are galleries at the surface of these galleries there air and sunlight
provided. There were many engraved things these things reflected the different things in society
for example the wars, slavery, and maybe even a depression era. When an era would end you
really wouldn t hear or see any other things on that event, as soon as it ended they didn t talk or
engrave more things on that topic. Another catacomb I will be talking about is the Paris catacomb.
These catacombs hold many bodies approximately six million people, this catacomb is in an
ancient mined which is like a tunnel of tombs for the dead people. Many of the catacombs around
the world are somewhat different but in many ways the same. It is neat to read about who had
things engraved and what sculptures they had around these catacombs. Catacomb Symbols:

My Family Holiday
Today was going to be one of the most irritating days for my family and we didn t know it. We
thought our family holiday was going great, there hadn t been any arguments that cause my
mother to say, That s it, pack everything!, I ve had enough, we re going back home . Even if she
had said that,I would highly doubt that she would have packed the car to drive ten hours back
home. The last full day of our trip was today, so we decided to visit friends of my parents, Bruce
and Martha. Their house was around an hour away from the caravan park, so we started
preparing for our mini trip, finally about half an hour later, we were ready to leave. We climb
into our petite black car and set off driving along the little road out of the site.Driving along
happily looking out the window at all the brightly fresh green grassed fields catching a glance of
the mixture of cars pass by my window. As we near our destination, we turn off up this little road
that led us beneath a large bridge. The road had a slight twist and my stomach felt like a field of
butterflies. Around a sharp bend, Into sight I noticed a sign that reads Welcome to Portsmouth .
My father s face looked astonished as he saying aloud I m surprised we made it, without any
problems , well he spoke to soon. Around the corner, I noticed a few run down pubs and
restaurants, reaching a set of traffic lights and of course we ended up getting stop at the red light. It
felt like everyone and their Grandmother got through except

The Disney King
Being that a live action version of The Lion King is soon to come, it would be inappropriate to not
take a look back at Disney classic. The movie discussed topics that many children had never
learned; which helped change the perspective of Disney forever. Along with a new perspective,
the film brings a flavor that is definitely new to Disney movies. Before someone watches the
upcoming live action film, they must first fall in love, if they already haven t, with the original

Though many reviewers like to focus on the comic relief characters of the movie: Timon,
Pumbaa, and Zazu, the characters that truly drove the movie were Simba and his conniving
uncle, Scar. In one journal done by KINEMA a journal for film and audiovisual media, the writer
describes how ... the physical portrayal of the two characters themselves already reveal their inner
qualities (KINEMA). Simba, at least as a child, is seen around vibrant colors, and the character
himself is always energetic. Scar on the other hand, is always seen with poor posture and grim
lighting (KINEMA). The way these two contrast throughout the movie, and then collide with their
colors in the final fight scene of the movie, really ties the film together in a way that no other
characters could.
One thing that was colossally critiqued was Mufasa s gruesome death in the climax of the movie.
In one online article written by Matt Roth titled, A short history of Disney fascism, Roth
passionately writes Disney s recent cash cow, THE LION KING, is no exception, imperiling its
characters with all manner of blood splattered mayhem and terrorizing impressionable youngsters...

The Pardoner s Tale By Geoffrey Chaucer
Geoffrey Chaucer is known as the Father of English literature and is considered the greatest
middle age poet, if wasn t for him we all might not be speaking English. The Pardoner s Tale is
one of the best moral stories in the Canterbury Tales. It is also one of Geoffrey Chaucer s most
popular stories. It reinforces that the love of money is the root of all evil. The character, setting,
and plot goes together in the Pardoner s Tale to show that money is the root of all evil. The
characters in the story aren t very nice to start with, but once their greed is awakened and they turn

democracy because of the leadership strategy of Pericles.
Throughout Pericles s childhood, he interacted with artist, philosophers, and musicians. This
interaction took a huge role in his character, and he became a leader of Athens and a huge
supporter of the arts. After the Persian invasion in 480, most Athenians refused to rebuild

pure wings roaming around the thick covering the bare sky with it s wings like it s never been

vapors consuming your sight and prickly thorns on the dark path.
Lastly, a land where humans like us live. Farming, sewing, writing, painting, selling goods and little
kids cycling or running through the streets. All of these territories united all together, no matter
what. Until chaos strikes like a meteor and all the union was burned into ashes.
Long ago, the queen of the celestial gave birth to fraternal twins. Two of them have symbolic

The nervous system receives its continuous supply of nutrients from the blood any disruption to this

Therefore, it is vital that humans have mechanisms to control this system. In a 70kg person,

Scotland Pros And Cons
For a number of centuries, Highlanders have remained in the Highlands of northern Scotland. This
influential group of inhabitants, imagined bulked together in clans and having wardrobes solely
composed of tartan kilts, have been referenced throughout the recent years in popular literature and
film. These unique culture references, however, may not correctly illustrate the true depiction of
the modern day Highlander. Previously competent in the affairs of war, revolution, and politics,
Highlanders today lead a much more rural and relaxed lifestyle. Once dominated by prominent
towns, clans, and populations, the historical Highlands today contain people scarce and far

Those in support were often called Jacobites, and planning for revolution was done in utmost
secrecy. At the beginning of the revolution, the Highlanders did well defending themselves against
the English brutalities. In the Battle of Prestonpans, Highlanders captured nearly one thousand
English soldiers and wounded hundreds, which gave them Jacobian pride to continue the
revolution (Forty five, 2014). However, all ideals of revolution ended at the Battle of Culloden.
Leading up to the Battle of Culloden (April 16, 1746), the Highlanders hadn t been fed for days
and had little protection or shelter from the harsh Highland weather. Due to the underwhelming
force of the Highland Jacobites, the battle lasted less than an hour. There were over 1500
Highlander fatalities, a striking difference to only fifty English fatalities. On their way home from
the tremendous victory, the English stopped by any Highland villages on the way and rid of each
Highlander they saw. Houses, barns, and memories were burnt to the ground in the reigning terror
of the English on their way back from Culloden (Magnusson, 2000, p. 617). This, the last pitched
battle on British soil, remains a haunting reminder to the Highlanders to this

  • 2. Japanese Art Research Paper After Japanese ports started to trade with the West, woodblock prints bearing Japanese artwork were used by European artists for artistic inspirations. The prints were inexpensive and could easily serve as souvenirs, making significant demand among European artists of the time. The masterful use of color and imagination made the Ukiyo e prints extremely popular. At the same time, the characteristics of Japanese art were markedly different from the traditional European forms of aesthetic expression. The asymmetrical compositions, strong diagonals, elongated figures, and the flatness of surface influenced the Post Impressionist age heavily. European painters, for instance, Claude Monet, Paul Gauguin, Vincent Van Gogh all admired and managed to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 19th century France, the city was steeped in modernity. As Baudelaire said, the painter should capture the transitory and eternal aspects of modern life. The daily life and bourgeois entertainment turned into their sources of inspirations, paralleling to the subject matter of Ukiyo e prints. For instance, the cafГ© and nightclub of Paris were the same as the teashops and brothels in old Edo. These innovative works of art inspired the new generation artists in France to seek for an alternative aesthetic experience in the modern period. The next part of the paper will use Henri Toulouse Lautrec as representative example illustrating the immense influence of Japanese prints on the Post Impressionism ... • 3. The Simpsons on Television Essay The Simpsons How does a television series keep going in this time of ever changing network schedules and shows that grow stale after twelve weeks? The Simpsons have not only lasted, but it has also become a staple of American life. Many tribute this longevity to the witty and hilarious satire that is present in every episode. By using incongruity, sarcasm, exaggeration, and other comedic techniques, The Simpsons satirizes most aspects of ordinary life, from family, to TV, to religion, achieving the true essence of satire. Homer Simpson is the captivating and hilarious satire of today s quot;Everyman. quot; With each passing season, Homer has emerged more and more as the central character in the series. In one episode, a previously ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I want to see you both fighting for your parents love quot;! Because it is so exaggerated, Homer s quote is a very funny contradiction of Marge s. Though many parents do cross the line in pushing their child to succeed, Homer overly exaggerates it when he says, quot;I want to see you both fighting for your parent s love! quot; Marge represents the quot;good quot; parent, as she so often does, and Homer becomes the extreme satire of the quot;bad quot; parent. He also says he doesn t want his kids going easy on each other because they re family. This is in direct contrast of the quot;family first quot; mentality most parents try to instill in their children. Instead, Homer wrongly puts winning ahead of anything else. There is a lot of incongruity in Homer s actions as well because one does not expect a middle aged father to act so childish. With exaggerated characters, the townspeople of Springfield satirize the stereotypes that the media so often depicts. Police Chief Clancy Wiggum is the corrupt and unintelligent head of the police force. His physical appearance alone is a satire of the stereotypical officer. He is very fat, always eating donuts and assorted artery clogging foods, and his nose bares a striking resemblance to that of a pig. In an act of comedy only possible in cartoons, Wiggum s round, upturned nose with large nostrils is unlike anyone else s in Springfield. Aside from his physical features, his questionable character serves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Character Analysis Of The Darkness In Emma By Jane Austen Jane Austen begins the novel Emma by stating, Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever, and rich, with a comfortable home and happy disposition, seemed to unite some of the best blessings of existence, and had lived nearly twenty one years in the world with very little to distress or vex her (1) immediately giving readers the impression that Emmais a young woman whom the readers should respect and grow to love throughout the novel. As we continue reading, however, we learn that while Emma has a respectable reputation and a circle of people who love her and want the best for her, she is extremely flawed. In the article, The Darkness in Emma, Anita Soloway states, for Emma, beauty, cleverness, and wealth prove to be mixed blessings at best, for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Emma is selfish, unable to see reality as it truly is, and is impulsive, yet, because of her respectable standing in the social class, people love her and want the best for her and think highly of her. While discussing Emma with Mr. Knightley, Mrs. Weston states, With all dear Emma s little faults, she is an excellent creature. Where shall we see a better daughter, or a kinder sister, or a truer friend? No, no; she has qualities which may be trusted; she will never lead any one really wrong; she will make no lasting blunder; where Emma errs once, she is in the right a hundred times (25). While her opinion on Emma does recognize that she has faults and isn t perfect, those flaws are basically overlooked. Mrs. Weston seems to believe that Emma is a blessing to everyone she encounters, and even when she creates an issue, it s acceptable because it s assumed she ll do something great to compensate up for it. This definitely shows what Emma s reputation is like, and how the people close to her view her. One of Emma s main flaws is the fact that she is extremely impulsive with her actions, and she doesn t stop to think about what she s doing until the damage is already done. This happens multiple times throughout the novel, especially when Emma tries to play matchmaker. This is partially due to the fact that she is unable to see reality clearly, which is what happens during her attempt at bringing Harriet and Mr. Elton together. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Juvenile Delinquent Crimes What is considered a juvenile delinquent? Criminal courts would say that a juvenile delinquent is a child that is between the ages of 7 to 14 years of age. Nowadays, 14 year old children can be charged with certain crimes that may be handled like adults. Today, many states determine that a child is considered to be a juvenile until the age of 18; however, in some states they set limits at 16 and 17 years of age. Under the age of 18, many offenses are considered juvenile delinquency. We see that crimes that are committed by juveniles have increased with violent crimes, drug crimes, gangs, and many more. With this in mind, some may argue to charge the juvenile as an adult based on the seriousness of the crime. The Tsar had no one to support and protect his family due to not seeing to civilians needs. The overthrow of the Tsarist government was the ending of the oppression and tyranny. Rasputin however did manipulate his ability to influence government decisions. The Romanov Empire in Russia was a dynasty that had been in power for over three hundred years and sadly ended with the last Romanov family being murdered. Rasputin, although he was not royalty, he was close to the family and had a hand in their downfall but was not the main reason for the downfall (Source J). Times like this called for everyone to do anything they could to stay alive and quite often this wasn t very pleasant. • 10. Duality In Cannery Row Cannery Row: A Literary Excavation on Duality Cannery Row is a town located in Monterey, California. Despite being small, dirty and crowded, it is a well functioned town and is home to people from different walks of life. In the novel s prologue, John Steinbeck wrote the following: Its inhabitants are, as one man once said, whores, pimps, gamblers, and sons of bitches by which he meant Everybody and [have] the man looked through another peephole he might have said: Saints and angels and martyrs and holy men, and he would have meant the same thing (Steinbeck 1). He basically comments that the difference in viewpoints given the same event results from the power of perspective and duality observed in people. One might see Cannery Row as a low down place while the others might see Cannery Row as a lively, vigorous town. One would see a character s actions disputable while the others would see their behaviors admirable. The viewpoints of the readers and the way characters behave at various times explain the fact that Cannery Row and its inhabitants possess qualities crossing good and evil. Cannery Row begins with the character Lee Chong, a small grocery owner that supplies the town. Lee was depicted as a kind and generous man, and his good nature was reflected through his appearance and personality. Steinbeck states that [his] mouth was full and benevolent and the flash of gold when he smiled was rich and warm (Steinbeck 7). This simple passage gives us a clear first ... • 12. Taking a Look at the Renaissance Renaissance is a generally accepted name for the era of great change in culture, art, and architecture which took place in the fifteenth and sixteenth century Italy, and then left its mark on the culture of the whole of Europe. During the Renaissance there was a significant shift of universally recognized values. They began to appreciate and recognize the creative possibilities of a human mind, which entailed a lot of consequences. One of them was the spectacular development of the architecture, and the new role of architecture and the architect in society. New forms of secular buildings such as villas, palaces, houses and town halls were exemplified, but most of building activity was centered on sacred buildings like the famed Tempietto by Donatano Bramante. Tempietto is a prime example of Renaissancearchitecture because not only it represents key characteristics like the simplicity of the composition, symmetry within structure, but it also resurrects precedents of Christian and pagan origin which were a baseline for many designs during that period. For many reasons the Renaissance began in Italy. In addition to the fact that there existed a rich artistic tradition, Italy was the richest country in Europe at that time. Cities were in bloom, rich merchants and bankers wanted to glorify their names ordering portraits, building magnificent palaces, decorating family chapels. And although the mere presence of such a generous patronage did not have to guarantee the creation of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Any surplus votes are then transferred to second choice candidates to see if they reach the quota, and so on until all Senate seats are filled. • 14. The Pressure Of The Canadian Nation The pressure placed upon multicultural often leads to questioning of its value and usefulness in building the Canadian nation. there have been far too many questionable call of ethics on behalf of the government in regardless to who has taken, or not been able to take up for role in the country. Historically we see this negative connotation follow distinct groups of people. Notably: Aboriginal with residential schools (thought interesting because they are now seen as founding peoples, yet the last residential school was only closed in the early 90s), the Chinese head tax, Japanese intermittent camps, the turning away of Jewish individuals during WWII. It becomes difficult to see how some of those marginalized or minority groups in Canadaare able to find themselves, even today, in an inclusive, equal and democratic society when multiculturalismin public discourse often hold onto old or stereotypical understandings. It continues to act as an ongoing point of contention because of the lack of historical knowledge Canadians have, as well as the increasing lack of engagement day to day contemporary politics and national happenings. It acts as an ignorance, that ultimately has consequences on the nations moral as well as its multicultural policies. In order to progress as a society and nation, it becomes increasingly difficult to build the foundation on old understandings and not re contextualize group and national identities in a 21st century context (Leung 1 2). Living donation is when the organ donor is still alive while deceased donation is when the donation takes place after death. Organ donation has been going on for centuries. The very first successful living donor transplant took five and a half hours at Brigham Hospital in Boston in December 23, 1954. The operation was led by Dr. Joseph Murray along with Dr. David. The first organ donor was Ronald Herrick. He donated one of his kidneys to his identical twin brother, Richard Herrick. Richard was dying from a chronic nephritis, an inflammation of the kidneys. As a matter of fact, Ronald was a living related donor. That means the organ comes from a blood relative such as parent, brother or sister. Later on, the successful operation led Dr. ... It is remarkable that Elie was able to survive without any faith because that is what pushed him to live on. Death was the prominent reason Elie lost his faith in the memoir. The absence of God, the dehumanization of the prisoners, and all of the death that surrounds him causes Elie Wiesel to lose faith in the memoir Night. Once Elie knew that god had betrayed him and the other Jews, he began to lose his faith. After being tortured to an unbelievable extent and treated like dogs he lost yet even more faith. Finally, when his father, his source of faith, dies he completely loses all hope and will to live. VirusBlokAda reported the vulnerability to Microsoft and Microsoft named the malware Stuxnet from a combination of file names (.stub and MrxNet.sys) found in the code (Zetter, 2011). One of the Stuxnet s driver files used a valid signed certificate stolen from RealTek Semiconductor, a hardware maker in Taiwan, in order to trick the systems into thinking the malware was a trusted program from RealTek (Zetter, 2011). Internet authorities quickly revoked the certificate. But another Stuxnet driver was found using a second certificate; this new certificate was stolen from JMicron Technology, a circuit maker in Taiwan that was coincidentally or not headquartered in the same business park as RealTek (Zetter, 2011). The experts said that the virus was designed to target Simatic WinCC Step7 software; which is an industrial control system made by the German conglomerate Siemens. The system was used to program controllers that drive motors, valves and switches in everything from food factories and automobile assembly lines to gas pipelines and water treatment plants (Zetter, 2011). This happens to be the same software that was used at Natanz facility. The Stuxnet virus looked for industrial control systems and then altered the code in them to allow the attackers to take control of these systems without the operators knowing (The Stuxnet Worm: Symantec). There were also a lot more causes that also contributed to World War 1, but amongst them all, the one that was probably the most important was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The reason as to why it was and is the most important cause to World War Iwas how much of a propulsion it had on the European countries to cause World War I in the first place. To start off, the assassination of the Archduke was by a member of a group called The Black Hand who were Serbian nationalists. While reading chapter I found myself comparing America to a teenage girl and Britain to a mother who is struggling to keep her child undercontrol. I think I felt this way because America really hated being told what to do by their mother country. The catalyst that eventually led to the eroding relationship between the two entities really was the French and Indian War because Britain was left with a giant debt while America was left with the satisfaction of winning and more land than ever. Britain called for stricter rule of colonial lands this angers the colonists because they believe these actions go against their rights as English citizens. Britain first tried to rein in control with the Proclamation of 1763 which prohibited white settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains. The prompt was to make a simple war game on a grid. At the beginning, we just came up with some simple rule to begin the game because we knew that we will improve the rule after we played the game. One of the most important that I learned during I was working on this project is that playable games take time and testing. It is okay to start with a simple game idea, and we will improve on it later. Out first draft games were expected to suck, which is going to be a lot of error and unclear rule, and it also won t be able to play through the end. It helps that we did not put too much pressure on ourselves. The war game is a common structure with grid movement Mechanism on the board games. The impulse to romanticize an idealized past is an inclination that most people have felt at one time or another. Sometimes, revisiting a familiar place can evoke memories from the far removed past and trigger an intense longing for another time. These feelings can often affect people more strongly than the actual event did. As a result, nostalgia can often cause people to interpret reality in distorted, unhealthy ways. In his novel Love in the Time of Cholera, MГЎrquez tells the story of Florentino Ariza, who attempts to win the love of Fermina Daza solely on the strength of the brief relationship they shared during their youth. The two people who find each other in the fading twilight of their lives, however, are completely different individuals from the young lovers seeking idealized constructs. It only happens when processed foods, fake alkaline water, and bad dosage are bombarded on our bodies, which are unable to keep our urine away from the bacteria. Types of Cranberry Juice Unfortunately, the majority of cranberry juice goes into making mixes and cocktails. The juice you buy in grocery stores is not pure, is filled with sugars and chemicals, and is often so thin that no health benefits have been left to her. In addition, the pasteurization process destroys healthy antioxidants. The juice on the store shelves is slightly more than the sugar flavored with cranberry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Widening Income Inequality Inequality has increased within the most advanced and emerging markets and developing countries (EMDCs), a phenomenon that has garnered considerable attention with President Obama calling widening income inequality the defining challenge of our time. Irrespective of culture, religion and ideology, inequality concerns and affects everyone. Inequality can serve as an indication of the shortage of income mobility and opportunity―a reflection of the perpetual disadvantage for certain sectors of society. Increasing inequality also has serious implications for macroeconomic stability and economic growth, it can concentrate political and decision making power in the hands of a few. This in turn results in the inefficient allocation of human resources,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inequality affects long term growth and cuts short the benefits such growth can bring about through the multiplier effect. So, the need to reduce inequality is apparent. The more progressive the tax is, the more effective it can be to reduce inequality. Progressivity could be strengthened by cutting back on tax expenditures that benefit mostly top income groups (e.g. tax relief on mortgage interest). In addition, removing other tax reliefs would increase equity and allow a growth enhancing cut in marginal labour income tax rates. It would also decrease tax avoidance instruments available for high income earners. Moreover, we have concluded that inheritance tax is deduced to be much more useful in reducing inequality. Therefore, rising inequality warrants the imposition of higher income and inheritance taxes on the rich, with more of an emphasis on higher inheritance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Free Speech Persuasive Speech What is free speech? Does the term free speech cover offensive words? Painful ones? Words that disrespect others? What about objectionable, or even wrong beliefs? When is speech illegal? What is exactly meant by free speech? According to Rampell, the term free speech includes hate speech , and is therefore protected by the first amendment (np). This means that even messages we don t like, agree with, feel uncomfortable about, or even are disgusted by, are legal. Unfortunately, many college students consider harmful words an assault, and some students believe that such verbal attacks can and should be met with violence (French np). Students and speakers today are discriminated against in classrooms and other scenes where free speech and debateshould be especially cherished. In 2017 alone, there have been multiple riots born of originally peaceful protests. Students in Middlebury College in Vermont revolted at a peaceful debate with far right Charles Murray. While Murray tried to reach his building, a mob formed, forcing him and his debate partner, Allison Stanger, to move to another building (Beinhart np). When Murray and Stanger tried to leave, they and the car they were in were attacked by students. The leftist Stanger was sent to the emergency room because she tried to protect the guest (Fatzick np). In Berkeley, California, students were up in arms, wanting to prevent Milo Yiannopoulos from speaking. Their haste to silence a man they disagreed with led to a huge disaster. In the streets, fellow classmates were attacked. One student who supported President Trump was brutally beaten, and an innocent bystander who claimed to be Muslim was assaulted for looking like a Nazi (Ramaiyer np). Others were beset upon as well, with pepper spray, matches, and baseball bats. In total, only one person was arrested (French np). Unless this one person attacked this many people and businesses, it s safe to assume that dozens of perpetrators have gone unpunished for the crime of hurting a human being! This free speech is not protected under the First Amendment. People are hurting other people. Another time Mr. Yiannopoulos attempted to give a speech, protesters rudely barged into the lecture hall, interrupting the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Similarities Between Han Feiizi And Confucianism Confucius vs. Han Feizi Philosophy Paper Confucius philosophy is a lot better than Han Feizi s. This is because it allows Chinese to live a great life but still follow the law. Confucius was able to break down the problems that people were facing and that helped a lot. The Chinese were ready for change after the Zhou Dynasty fell and Confucius was able to come up with a solution that solved that major problem and it worked out perfectly. Confucianism was not the only philosophy introduced at the time though, Han Feizi established a philosophy too called Legalism. Confucianism is better than Legalism because it allows Chinese to live a good life and still be happy people. Confucianism is based off of five main concepts. The first concept is JEN: The virtue of virtues . This concept states the goodness of the human spirit. The idea that mankind is bonded together as brother and sister, the ideal relationship between human beings. There are people like us all around the world that have some type of disorder and are not treated right and are made fun of. Did you know, in 2011, a boy from Norway used his cell phone to play a heavy metal song by Megadeth to escape from wolves? This strange story demonstrates the many unexplored uses for cell phones. Although there are many advantages to using a cell phone for social, entertainment and safety purposes, there are equally as many disadvantages. To start, there are a multitude of social advantages in owning a smartphone. In past years, teenagers had to share landlines with the rest of the family, so phone calls were infrequent and carefully monitored. Today, smartphones are either always in a tweens hand or lap. And whether beeping some strange noise or vibrating, the youth is in constant touch with their peers. Group texts, snapchat, and Instagram are just a few of the methods that these children stay hooked into each other s lives. Of course, the disadvantages are that if one has no friends, it will make one feel terrible and isolated not to be included in the virtual conversations. Another problem is that research shows that a lack of practice hampers many teenagers face to face social skills such as recognizing body language or having an effective conversation. However, all ideals of revolution ended at the Battle of Culloden. Leading up to the Battle of Culloden (April 16, 1746), the Highlanders hadn t been fed for days and had little protection or shelter from the harsh Highland weather. Due to the underwhelming force of the Highland Jacobites, the battle lasted less than an hour. There were over 1500 Highlander fatalities, a striking difference to only fifty English fatalities.
