Jennifer Killinger
I know Jennifer because of her participation in a research cruise of the R/V Falkor. I was
the chief scientist. Jennifer was a student intern selected by the Schmidt Ocean Institute.
The cruise was for 3 weeks from Majuro, Marshall Islands to Honolulu to study ocean-
mixing processes in the tropical Pacific.
Jennifer’s role was to produce written and video blogs of the cruise. This she did
exceedingly well. I was particularly impressed by her attention to detail. She displayed a
genuine desire to fully understand both the science involved and the mechanics of taking
the measurements. This resulted in well crafted and articulate blogs that were good to
read, informative and educational. The range of questions she asked in the video shoots
showed she had quickly grasped the subject material, fully appreciated the major issues,
and what needed to be asked to convey the essentials to the viewer.
Jennifer will excel in any role that involves the need for excellent communication of
science and I strongly recommend her to you.
Yours sincerely
