Jehangir ruled the Mughal Empire from 1605 to 1627. He was the son of Emperor Akbar and married both Manbhawati Bhai, the daughter of Raja Bhagawan Dass, and Nur Jahan. During his reign, the East India Company established trade in India for the first time and Jehangir introduced the Chain of Justice to help resolve legal disputes. Nur Jahan, originally named Mehr-un-Nissa, effectively ruled the empire alongside Jehangir from 1611 until her death in 1627 after marrying him. Manbhawati Bhai committed suicide after becoming distraught over issues with her son Khusrau Mirza and Jehangir
