Type 1 diabetes means the human body cannot produce the integral chemical messenger, insulin, and sugar cannot be metabolized by the body. Five percent of all diagnosed diabetics are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes usually at a young age (ADA,2013)What the pancreas does naturally for a healthy body, breaking down sugars and starches into usually energy, does not happen and must be maintained by the patient and their caregivers. Sounds simple enough but it is a very complex process where forgetfulness has no place, add young children as those who may forget to maintain an entire chemical process and the end result could be a nightmare. Dissemination planning for type 1 diabetic education is needed to provide much needed support and up to date information regarding scientific progress of the disease. How will important update With the Center for Disease Control estimating that 11.3 percent of the population over the age of twenty in America has diabetes, whether they know it or not (www.cdc.gov-2011)it is completely necessary to educate type 1 diabetic candidates about the available genetic testing.. With over 24.8 out of 100,000 people under ten years old and 22.6 out of 100,000 less than nineteen years old. Diabetes type 1 is typically caused by outside risk like bacteria that possibly attack the immune system causing an autoimmune disorder or genetics. Whatever the cause of type I diabetes; the patient will require daily insulin injections. It is integral for optimum health benefits that patients and their families are educated early on as to gain the most benefit from intervention.
Starting with a small audience, I chose to identify and target an audience that has been predicted by the CDC to be the most growing population to be diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The average Bridesburg family makes 45,000 dollars annually with only thirty percent of the residents completing high school, well below the average in the city of Philadelphia. Less than five pe.

parents do not think that this is a
realistic goal and are asking for her
advice. Ms. Barry has never heard this
question from a student’s parents before
and is unsure about what to tell them.
Students with intellectual and
developmental disabilities (IDD), such
as autism spectrum disorder and Down
syndrome, have more opportunities to
go to college than ever before (Hart,
Grigal, & Weir, 2010). Over the last
decade, the issue of increasing access
to college for students with IDD has
gained much national attention, in part
due to federal funding through the
Higher Education Opportunity Act
(2008). According to Think College—
a national organization dedicated to
expanding and improving opportunities
for inclusive higher education for
students with IDD—more than 240
inclusive college programs for students
with ID exist across the United States
(see Figure 1; Think College, 2017).
This number represents an exponential
increase in programs—nearly 10 times
greater than the number of programs
available in 2004 (National
Coordinating Center Accreditation
Workgroup, 2016). Not only are there
more programs to choose from, with
recent revisions to the Higher
Education Opportunity Act, students
with ID also can access federal
financial aid for attending
postsecondary education programs that
meet federal requirements (Hart et al.,
2010).
Several sources of data provide a
snapshot of college attendance by
students with IDD. An analysis of data
from the Rehabilitation Services
Administration suggests that up to 20%
of youth with ID in each state are in
postsecondary education while
receiving vocational rehabilitation
services (Grigal, Migliore, & Hart,
2014). The National Longitudinal
Transition Study 2 indicated that 28.7%
of youth with ID enrolled in some type
of postsecondary education within 8
years after exiting high school
(Newman et al., 2011). Through recent
federal funding for Transition and
Postsecondary Programs for Students

The Edge Foundation announced a $1 million research program to study the effectiveness of personal coaching for college students with ADHD. The 27-month study led by Wayne State University will examine the impact of coaching on 250 students' academic performance, retention rates, and social adjustment compared to similar non-coached students. The Edge Foundation provides coaching to students with ADHD to help them develop organizational, time management, and focus skills. The goal is to determine if coaching can help these students succeed in college and overcome challenges often associated with having ADHD.

arly care and education is a hot policy issue. From the U.S. Capitol to state
houses and city halls across the nation, policy makers are debating issues
with important implications for young children’s early development and
learning. In 2005 alone federal policy makers are expected to reauthorize
special education, welfare reform, and Head Start legislation. Meanwhile, state
legislators in Florida and Massachusetts, for example, have recently passed
laws to expand preschool programs and improve the quality of early childhood
services. Overall, enrollment in state preschool programs continues to rise
nationwide, but access varies from state to state (Barnett et al. 2003).
In addition to new federal, state, and local initiatives, research projects
evaluating the impact of public policies on children’s early development and
learning are burgeoning. We are learning more and more about the benefits of
high-quality early care and education for children. A new evaluation of state-
funded prekindergarten in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for instance, found that four-year-
olds enrolled in the program improved their cognitive and language skills, and
the results were most marked for minority and disadvantaged participants
(Gormley et al. 2004). Now we have almost four decades of longitudinal data on
early intervention participants. High/Scope researchers have recently released
findings showing that adults at age 40 who had participated in the Perry
Preschool program had higher earnings, were more likely to hold a job, had
committed fewer crimes, and were more likely to have graduated from high
school than those who did not participate (Schweinhart et al. In press). In sum,
early care and education is high on both policy and research agendas in the
United States.

Stakeholders involved in the early care and education field range broadly
and now include a diversity of groups: governments, universities, advocates,
professional associations, nonprofit organizations, and unions, among others.

The main objective of this nutrition education program is to educate non-Hispanic white diabetic patients. To be specific, the target audience is the non-Hispanic white teenagers aged between 15 and 19 years. Most parents tend to ignore their responsibility of controlling what their children in high school are eating. The purpose of this Health Policy Study is to better understand adolescents’ views on what are considered core components of the medical home and identify barriers to promoting adolescent health in relation to the medical home.
In addition, this study sought to better understand the needs and challenges in providing adolescents with access to medical homes—from the perspective of both adolescents and experts in adolescent health and medical home policy. To accomplish these goals, researchers conducted focus groups with adolescents, presented these findings to experts, and gathered experts’ reactions to the adolescents’ perspectives. arly care and education is a hot policy issue. From the U.S. Capitol to state
houses and city halls across the nation, policy makers are debating issues
with important implications for young children’s early development and
learning. In 2005 alone federal policy makers are expected to reauthorize
special education, welfare reform, and Head Start legislation. Meanwhile, state
legislators in Florida and Massachusetts, for example, have recently passed
laws to expand preschool programs and improve the quality of early childhood
services. Overall, enrollment in state preschool programs continues to rise
nationwide, but access varies from state to state (Barnett et al. 2003).
In addition to new federal, state, and local initiatives, research projects
evaluating the impact of public policies on children’s early development and
learning are burgeoning. We are learning more and more about the benefits of
high-quality early care and education for children. A new evaluation of state-
funded prekindergarten in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for instance, found that four-year-
olds enrolled in the program improved their cognitive and language skills, and
the results were most marked for minority and disadvantaged participants
(Gormley et al. 2004). Now we have almost four decades of longitudinal data on
early intervention participants. High/Scope researchers have recently released
findings showing that adults at age 40 who had participated in the Perry
Preschool program had higher earnings, were more likely to hold a job, had
committed fewer crimes, and were more likely to have graduated from high
school than those who did not participate (Schweinhart et al. In press). In sum,
early care and education is high on both policy and research agendas in the
United States.

and now include a diversity of groups: governments, universities, advocates,
professional associations, nonprofit organizations, and unions, among others.

Combined Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Vessel List.
The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)
International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)
Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC)
Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO)
North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC)
North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC)
South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO)
South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO)
Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA)
Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC)
The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.

Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.

- 2. INTRODUCTION A master’s degree graduate of New York University, Philip Calhoun serves as the executive vice president of Total Quality Engineering in Farmington Hills, Michigan, where among other duties, he guides the company’s key operating principles. Apart from his professional life, Philip Calhoun supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Earlier this year, JDRF unveiled a plan to team with the College Diabetes Network (CDN) to sponsor a brand new initiative called the Off to College Program, which is aimed at helping students who have Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), as well as their families, get the resources they need to ensure a smooth transition into college life. Through the program, students and families will receive the most up-to-date materials available about how to manage T1D when away from their primary support network. Some of the materials include student booklets, as well as informational packages for health providers and awareness organizations who want to reach the college T1D population. These materials are provided free-of-charge and are available at www.jdrf.org in both digital and hard-copy formats.
