JOB PURPOSE: (Why does the job exist?)
Ensures that all items are incoming, fabricated / erected / modified and coated materials are based on the
agreed and approved specifications and procedures; Performs dimensional / welding / coating & final inspections
as per approved Inspection Testing Plan; Liaises with Third Party Inspectors / Customer Representatives /
Engineers for clearing and releasing the materials.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS: (Minimum attributes for the job holder to be effective in this job in terms of education, qualifications/
certifications, work experiences, specific job skills, computer literacy, language/communication skills, personal competencies, work
environment & physical effort)
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 5-10 years working experience Quality Inspections for Incoming Materials, Fit up / Welding and
Painting 0f piping / steel structure / Field erected storage tanks in petrochemical and refinery projects.
• ASNT Level II Certification is mandatory. CSWIP certification is an advantage
• In-depth understanding of Engineering Drawings/Blueprints of Isometric drawings, Piping and equipment
drawings.
• Thorough knowledge in material specification of piping / steel structures / equipment
• Above Average Communication Skills (oral and written)
• High Degree of Flexibility and Team Player attitude
• Proficient in MS Office Applications and other desktop utilities is desired.
• Should be conversant with AWS D1.1, AISC, SSPC Vol. 1 & Vol. II.
• Must have the awareness in ISO Standards 9001 Quality System and all relevant codes in welding.

1 Quality Control Inspections
• Understands and analyzes the job’s Inspection Testing Plan requirements prior to inspection
procedure.
• Conducts the Raw Material Receipt Inspection, Dimensional / Welding and Coating & Final Inspection,
Pre-shipment to ensure the fabricated materials conform to the company’s standards and customer’s
specifications and requirements.
• Inspect erected parts in accordance to ITP and acceptable parameters and maintain all inspection
reports for final dossier.
• Checks and reports to Field Supervisor any deviation in the quality for rectification.
• Maintains the latest revisions and keeps them updated.
2 Surface Preparation & Coating Inspection
• Monitors whether the paint and its application comply with the company’s standards and customer’s
requirements and specifications.
• Measures the Dry Film Thickness (DFT) using the Elcometer.
• Performs visual inspection of coating and other test like Adhesion Test or Dolly Test if required by the
specification.
• Checks the instrument calibration, blast cleanliness level and blast surface anchor profile by dial gauge.
• Performs weather monitoring at regular intervals of four times a shift (temperature, dew point, humidity
and climatic conditions).
3 Material Receipt Inspection
• Conducts Materials Receipt Inspection to determine its compliance with the given requirements and
specifications.
• Checks the incoming material against PO requirements.
• Checks and reviews TC and batch certificates.
4 NDT Inspection
• Coordinates with third party inspection for RT / MPI and submit all the reports in accordance to
Client’s requirement.
• Inspect and record all the procedures and parameters relevant to Pre-heat and PWHT performed by
subcontractor. Perform all NDT requirement related to stress relieving.
5 Documentations and Record Keeping
• Prepares Inspection Report and Non-Conformance Reports (if any) for submission to immediate head.
• Maintains all records, documents and procedures up to date.
• Assists all QA-related report preparations.
