De bouw van de ECO kubus in Noorwegen is gebaseerd op het principe van Passief Huis. Hierbij zijn de dikte van de zijwanden 30 cm en de dikte van het dak 40 cm in een hoek van 90 graden.De ECO kubus maakt gebruik van meerdere ‘groene’energiebronnen waaronder zonnepanelen, zonneboilers, warmtepompen en windmolens.In september 2015 starten de studenten met het bouwen van de Eco Kubus. Het is de bedoeling dat de Eco Kubus in de lente van 2016 klaar is.

In de ECO kubus willen de Noren het smarthouse system Sensio toepassen om het energieverbruik te monitoren. Met dit systeem zijn verlichting en andere systemen in de ruimte mee te besturen vanaf smartphone en of tablet. Het is mogelijk om vanuit elke plek in de wereld dit smartsysteem te bekijken en te bedienen. Bij toepassing van dit systeem in de ECO kubus van Centrum Duurzaam is het vergelijken van de beide ECO kubussen mogelijk. In Noorwegen zijn 90% van de nieuwe huizen al uitgerust met deze systemen. Sensio, een Noors bedrijf, wil meewerken aan het vertalen van de software in het Nederlands.
Bezoek aluminium fabriek ALCOA
Een ander aspect van het uitwisselingsproject was een bedrijfsbezoek aan ALCOA, de aluminiumfabriek in Mosjoen. Deze fabriek maakt van grondstof anodes door middel van elektrolyse. In een rondleiding kwamen de verschillende verwerkingsonderdelen naar voren: van het invoeren van de grondstof tot het opmaat maken van de staven aluminium. De afnemers van ALCOA zijn verschillende fabrieken die daar hun eigen producten van maken zoals; motoren, frames etc..
Centrum Duurzaam
Centrum Duurzaam wil, als onderdeel van ROC Friese Poort, de kennis en ervaring bij het bedrijfsleven benutten voor het opleiden van jonge vakmensen in de praktische toepassing van innovatieve duurzame technieken. Tevens wil Centrum Duurzaam met goede en objectieve voorlichting de toepassing van deze technieken bij bedrijven en particulieren stimuleren. Kennis, ervaring en vakmanschap voor een duurzame wereld.

Studenten uit Nederland, Noorwegen, Polen, Hongarije, Slowakije, Griekenland en Turkije presenteerden hun duurzame invalshoek op het verduurzamen van gebouwen.

- 3. ECO-BUILDINGS Most popular Building: The House Our al new design of eco friendly house is something that has never been done before and will lower emissions and pollution to this world!! The exterior The exterior of our house is completely recycled, new super-strength plastic, also around the back we have used our new design, manure blocks. The Roof The Roof on the top level will be completely made of solar panels (photo voltaic cells ) , so they will supply the house with part of it’s electricity, the house will also use our innovative technology, a sensor on the roof will rotate the house to face the sun were it’s rays are strongest! It will have a sedan roof which will create natural insulation and will partly supply the car with its bio-fuels. *Other energy creating Features **A water wheel will supply the house with more of it’s electricity and heat using hydro-technology. A wind turbine will supply you with more electricity using wind-energy. A fitness room will be incorporated into your design and when in use all the energy created will be transferred into electricity to help power your house. The glass that will be used in our house will also be 100% recycled but not just that, it is a new type of triple glazing so no heat is lost in the house, and so it is completely air tight, as we have already mentioned we are using a lot of solar panels and we are also using bio-fuels and because it will supply enough electricity to power the house, you will be able to sell the remainder back to the grid. So the house will eventually start to earn money back on it’s self after a year. Another type of power the house will use is hydro-electric power ( water power ) by using the river that surrounds the house, but not only will we use the river for electricity it will be filtered and be used as drinking water for the house. The last type of power we will be using are good old wind turbines, to make use of the strong breeze that blows over the area! As you can see our house is very original and is very eco-friendly and will hope that in the near future all our houses will be like this! *Designs are customisable **Used only if you have access to a flowing water supply
- 4. ECO-CAR JBB automobiles: What powers our car? Solar power means energy from sunlight. When the sunlight reflects onto the photovoltaic cells or PV Cells, a current is produced. Our car will use this current and connect it to our all new hybrid Motor, for a new type of electric power. Our Car? All the materials used in our car is 100% recycled. The interior of our car is done with a new and original type of recycling, we have used old plastic carrier bags. Our car is using all the waste material from McLaren. All our cotton is recycled from using plastic bags which Asda has kindly donated. Our car has the lowest emissions of any car on the market. The power Even though our car is purely powered by electricity and solar power, it will do a staggering 210 MPH and 0-60 in 3.1 seconds. The engine has been able to harness every bit of power to give you an accelerating drive!!
