Emotional Wellness 
The emotional dimension emphasizes an awareness and acceptance of one’s feelings. It reflects the degree to which an individual feels positive and enthusiastic about one’s self and life. This dimension involves the capacity to manage feelings and behaviors; accept one’s self unconditionally; assess strengths and limitations; develop autonomy; and cope with stress.

Intellectual Wellness 
The intellectual dimension promotes the use of one’s mind to create a better understanding and appreciation of oneself and others. It involves one’s ability to think creatively and rationally. This dimension encourages individuals to intentionally engage their mind and to expand their knowledge and skill base through a variety of resources and cultural activities.

Physical Wellness 
The physical dimension promotes healthy lifestyle habits and encourages participation in activities for cardiovascular endurance, muscular strengthening, balance, and flexibility and a balanced diet. The physical dimension engages individuals in activities that lead to high-level wellness, personal safety, proactive self-care, confidence in body image and age, and the appropriate use of the medical system.

Social Wellness 
The social dimension emphasizes the creation and maintenance of healthy relationships and harmony within the family. To be socially well, individuals respect themselves and others; value differences; connect with people, pets, and nature; interact with the environment; welcome others; create, nurture, and maintain relationships by talking, listening, and sharing interests.

Spiritual Wellness 
The spiritual dimension is a personal matter involving values and beliefs that provide a purpose in our lives. While different individuals may have different views of what spiritualism is, it is generally considered to be the search for meaning and purpose in human existence, leading one to strive for a state of harmony with oneself and others while working to balance inner needs with the rest of the world (National Wellness Institute).

Vocational Wellness 
The vocational dimension emphasizes the importance of giving and receiving. It is the process of determining and achieving personal and occupational interests through meaningful activities. This dimension encourages goal setting for one’s personal enrichment. Vocational wellness is linked to the creation of a positive attitude about personal and/or professional development (National Wellness Institute).

  • 7. Emotional Wellness The emotional dimension emphasizes an awareness and acceptance of one’s feelings. It reflects the degree to which an individual feels positive and enthusiastic about one’s self and life. This dimension involves the capacity to manage feelings and behaviors; accept one’s self unconditionally; assess strengths and limitations; develop autonomy; and cope with stress. © 2014 Jan Montague
  • 8. Intellectual Wellness The intellectual dimension promotes the use of one’s mind to create a better understanding and appreciation of oneself and others. It involves one’s ability to think creatively and rationally. This dimension encourages individuals to intentionally engage their mind and to expand their knowledge and skill base through a variety of resources and cultural activities. © 2014 Jan Montague

Physical Wellness The physical dimension promotes healthy lifestyle habits and encourages participation in activities for cardiovascular endurance, muscular strengthening, balance, and flexibility and a balanced diet. The physical dimension engages individuals in activities that lead to high-level wellness, personal safety, proactive self-care, confidence in body image and age, and the appropriate use of the medical system. © 2014 Jan Montague
  • 10. Social Wellness The social dimension emphasizes the creation and maintenance of healthy relationships and harmony within the family. To be socially well, individuals respect themselves and others; value differences; connect with people, pets, and nature; interact with the environment; welcome others; create, nurture, and maintain relationships by talking, listening, and sharing interests. © 2014 Jan Montague
  • 11. Spiritual Wellness The spiritual dimension is a personal matter involving values and beliefs that provide a purpose in our lives. While different individuals may have different views of what spiritualism is, it is generally considered to be the search for meaning and purpose in human existence, leading one to strive for a state of harmony with oneself and others while working to balance inner needs with the rest of the world (National Wellness Institute). © 2014 Jan Montague
  • 12. Vocational Wellness The vocational dimension emphasizes the importance of giving and receiving. It is the process of determining and achieving personal and occupational interests through meaningful activities. This dimension encourages goal setting for one’s personal enrichment.
