Natural Beauty and Tourism.
There are so many places to visit for Tourists.
Some of these are known for their scenic beauty
and lovely weather ,
while some are more popular worldwide for
their religious existence.
In this Presentation, I am giving a brief about
some of these destinations
3. Raghunath Temple is a Hindu
temple located in Jammu in the
Indian state of Jammu and
Kashmir. It consists of a
complex of
seven Hindu shrines.
Raghunath Temple was
constructed by the first Dogra
ruler Maharaja Gulab Singh in
the year 1835. The temple has
many gods in its complex of
shrines, but the presiding deity
is Rama – also known as
Raghunath, so the name
Raghunath Ji Temple.
4. The biggest Shiva temple in north
India, Ranbireshwar Temple is one of
the prime attractions in the
picturesque Jammu city. It is a very
ancient shrine, located in Shalimar
Road. Maharaja Ranbir Singh built it
in 1883, dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The temple has a central `lingam`
measuring 8-feet in height,
constructed out of black stone, is the
biggest in India. It was under the built
of the Dogra rulers; also enshrining 12
shivlings in crystal, measuring 15cm
to 38cm. Galleries with 1.25 lakh `bona
lingam` brought from Narmada River,
can be witnessed on stone slabs inside
the temple. There are also mammoth
images of Ganesha, Kartikeya and

abt the whole story of the place and
the mystical passage cave leading to
Amarnath Gufa...

The place is easy to approach and one
feels surprised how this famous place
is so less known to pilgrims and even
tourists!
6. The Mahakali temple famous as Bawe
Wali Mata Temple has been built on a
elevated platform and houses a black
stone coloured idol of the Goddess
Mahakali. Kali Mata Mandir is built
within the premises of Bahu Fort,
which overlooks the mighty Tawi
River. The surrounding forest area
has been converted into a beautiful
park known as the “Bagh-e-Bahu”.
Influenced by the Mughal gardens,
the park provides a fantastic view of
Jammu city. A newly constructed
aquarium is also an added tourist
attraction. The fort was built by Raja
Bahulochan around 3000 years ago.
7. Great place to spend time with
friends, couples ,families etc. This is
mostly Crowded with tourists. You
feel freshness here in the evening
hours. It has a small lake inside the
park. But if modify then can be better.
Fountains are running with music in
the evening hours.
8. The famous temple is located on
Jammu Katra highway about 15 km
prior to Katra. It is believed that this
should be first stoppage en route to
Mata Vaishno Devi temple. Its nice
maintained temple which give lot of
solace. Disciple were seen rendering
BHAJANS and the atmosphere was full
of devotion..Plan your journey in a
manner to visit this very historic
temple. You will have unforgettable
experience.
9. Most important religious place in
India. People from every part of India
visit there through out the year in every
weather. Vaishno mata shrine is at 5200
feet from sea level.
The length of the trek is 13 Km from the
starting point, which is Ban Ganga.
Pony, Palkis & Pithus are available at
starting point, Ardh Kuwari, you can
hire any of these facility if you can not
trek on your own.
Lot of shops are available on the trek
for refreshment. In normal scenario
you can complete the trek in 6 to 8
hours on your own feet. If you use pony
trek can be complete in 3.5 to 4 hours.
10. Mansar Lake is situated 62 km (39 mi)
from Jammu, the lake fringed by forest-
covered hills, over a mile in length by
half-a-mile in width.
Besides being a popular excursion
destination in Jammu, it is also a holy
site, sharing the legend and sanctity
of Lake Manasarovar. On the Eastern
Bank of the Lake there is a shrine
to Sheshnag, a snake with six heads.
Two ancient temples of
Umapati Mahadev & Narsimha as also
a temple of Durga are situated in the
vicinity of the Mansar lake. People take
a holy dip in the water of the lake on
festive occasions.
11. Surinsar Lake is not vary far from
Mansar Lake. It is a nice place for a day
trip from Jammu. It has lesser number
of visitors as compared to Mansar
Lake,but you can't be very sure on that
count. The Lake has a very nice walking
track all around it, one can surely enjoy
walking along the lake surrounded by
greenery.
I did not find any major place to stay
around the lake. However proximity to
Jammu town makes it easy for tourists
to make a day trip to this Lake.
12. Sukrala Mata Shrine is situated at
Billawar in district Kathua, Jammu.
The site is nearly 125 kms. away from
Jammu. The temple is very renowned as
it is believed that it fulfills all your
wishes if you wish them by a sacred and
true heart. The word sukrala is derived
from Shukrala. The Mata sukrala is the
eldest of nine devis. The tempel is
believed to be built by the king of
Chamba, Himachal Pradesh in India as
he had bowed before the Devi to built a
temple if he win the war against his
enemies. He conquered and built a
temple. The place is on the top of a hill
and the natural beauty is awesome. Jai
Mata Di.
13. Sudh Mahadev Temple is situated at a
distance of about 120 KMs from Jammu
towards Chenani that was presumably
founded in 770 AD by Raja Gambhir Chand
the 37th descendent of Raja Shishpal Chand of
Chanderi (who finds mention in the epic
Mahabharata).
The temple is near nucleus of Mantalai where
Raja Himachal held the marriage ceremony of
his daughter Parvati to Lord Shiva.
It is believed that in olden times a Rakshas
named ‘Sudh’, used to trouble Devtas . They
all worshiped Lord Shiva to save them from
the demon. Hearing the prayers of the
devotees Lord Shiva hurled His trident at the
demon with such a power that it not only
killed him but pierced the earth through and
through down to patala.
14. With endless meadows and panoramic
views of the snow capped peaks of the
Himalayas, Patnitop is a perfect place
to experience nature at its picturesque
best and widest.
Along with the widespread abundance
in sceneries, the area is accessorized
with activities like skiing and trekking
as well as water springs, all together
making it a popular tourist
destination. Sanasar, located 17 kms
away is also popular for a paragliding
base, golf courses along with extended
sightseeing options. These together,
are sure to give one the most splendid
and grand views and make the
experience all the more enjoyable with
a host of adventure activities.
15. Dal is a lake in Srinagar, Kashmir in
India. The urban lake, which is the
second largest in the union territory, is
integral to tourism and recreation in
Kashmir and is named the " Lake of
Flowers“
The shore line of the lake, about 15.5
kilometres (9.6 mi), is encompassed by
a boulevard lined with Mughal
era gardens, parks, houseboats and
hotels. Scenic views of the lake can be
witnessed from the shore line Mughal
gardens, such as Shalimar
Bagh and Nishat Bagh built during the
reign of Mughal Emperor Jahangir
16. Shalimar Bagh is a Mughal garden in
Srinagar, linked through a channel to
the northeast of Dal Lake. It also
known as Shalimar Gardens, Farah
Baksh, and Faiz Baksh. The other
famous shoreline garden in the
vicinity is Nishat Bagh, 'The Garden of
Delight'.
Popularly known as the ‘Garden of
Bliss’, the Nishat Bagh is the second-
largest Mughal Garden in Kashmir
valley, after the Shalimar Bagh and
one of the most popular tourist
attractions near Srinagar. This
beautiful garden is situated on the
eastern side of the Dal Lake. Nishat
Garden is nestled against the
backdrop of the magnificent Zabarwan
Mountains.
17. The Shankaracharya Temple is also
known as the Jyeshteshwara Temple. It
is on top of the Shankaracharya Hill
on the Zabarwan Range in Srinagar,
Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is
dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is
at a height of 1,000 feet above the
valley floor and overlooks the city of
Srinagar.
18. Situated at an altitude of 2730 m above
sea level, Gulmarg is a popular skiing
destination located in Pir Panjal
Range of Union territory of Jammu
and Kashmir. Surrounded by snow-
covered lofty Himalayas, meadows of
flowers, deep ravines, evergreen
forested valleys, Gulmarg also has the
world's second-highest Gondola ride.
Among one of the top honeymoon
locations, Gulmarg boasts of being a
beautiful town
19. Sonmarg is the best natural beauty
reserve in Kashmir. ... Pristine
Gangabal Lake, Vishansar Lake,
Krishansar Lake and Gadsar Lake are
the major attractions in Sonmarg,
whereas Naranag and Thajiwas Glacier
are a attraction for them.
Sonmarg has ancient importance
because it was a gateway on the
ancient Silk Road that connects
Kashmir with China. It provides as a
base camp for Ladakh and is militarily
very important for India. In the
winter, Sonamarg becomes a valley
covered in white gold thereby living up
to its name.
20. Amarnath Yatra is a pilgrimage to
Amarnath cave, a Hindu shrine
situated at an altitude of 3,888 m
(12,756 ft), about 141km from Srinagar,
Jammu and Kashmir. It can reached
through Pahalgam town. Amarnath is
considered to be one of the holiest
shrines in Hinduism. The cave is
surrounded by snowy mountains. The
cave itself is covered with snow most
of the year except for a short period of
time in summer when it is open for
pilgrims. Thousands of Hindu devotees
make an annual pilgrimage to
the Amarnath cave on challenging
mountainous terrain to see an ice
stalagmite formed inside the cave.
