Jaguars live in South and Central America, preferring warm climates like rainforests and grasslands. They grow to between 44-73 inches long and have tails of 18-30 inches. Jaguars become sexually mature at 3 years old and mate year-round in rainforests or in the fall in other areas, giving birth to litters of 1-4 cubs after a 93-110 day gestation. They are threatened by hunting for fur and loss of habitat to agriculture. Jaguars eat small animals, birds, fish and monkeys. Some Jaguars have a rare black mutation and live deep in rainforests to camouflage themselves.
