The Sacramento Tree Foundation works to engage the public health sector and underserved communities by providing fruit trees and education on nutrition, physical activity, and tree care. Through partnerships with organizations like schools and health centers, they host fruit tree celebrations where they distribute free trees and do cooking demonstrations and lessons on nutrition, physical activity, and tree care. Their outreach efforts reached over 800 homes and engaged over 150 participants, exceeding their goals. Lessons learned include the importance of partnerships and keeping class sizes manageable with engaging activities for children.
