2. What is ITPO?
• ITPO is the nodal agency of the Government of India under
aegis of Ministry of Commerce and Industry (India) for
promoting country's external trade.
• It deals with promotion of trade both at micro and macro
levels.

4. History of ITPO
India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO)
was incorporated by merger of Trade
Development Authority (TDA), a
Registered Society under the administrative
control of the Ministry of Commerce &
Industry, with Trade Fair Authority of India
(TFAI).
5. Where is it located?
• India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO),
headquartered at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
• Spread over an area of 123.5 acres and has
established it as a renowned destination for
holding exhibitions, conventions, seminars,
business meets and other trade promotion
activities.
• ITPO has four Regional Offices at Bangalore,
Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai.

• ITPO had had overseas offices at New York, Frankfurt,
Tokyo, Moscow and São Paulo for pursuing opportunities for
enhancement of India's trade and investment. However, all
overseas offices are now closed by ITPO

• Managing the extensive trade fair complex.
• Organising various trade fairs and exhibitions at its exhibition
complex in Pragati Maidan and other centres in india.
• Facilitating the use of Pragati Maidan for holding of trade fairs and
exhibitions by other fair organisers both from India and abroad.
• Timely and efficient services to overseas buyers in vendors
identification, drawing itineraries, fixing appointments and even
accompanying them where required.
