This document outlines Project 1A for an introductory design course. The project has two parts: 1) Students individually sketch design elements like lines, shapes, textures found in nature and the built environment; and produce two abstract artworks. 2) Students work in groups to compose art using everyday items and demonstrate design principles. The objectives are to learn design processes, components, and principles. Students will be assessed on their understanding of elements and principles as demonstrated in the artworks, clarity of explanations, originality, and technique.
