•Identifying and mobilizing the assets of
individuals, especially those who are “clients” of social
services
•Building relationships among community
members, especially those that are mutually supportive
•Giving community members more roles and power in
local institutions; citizens lead efforts
•Believing that everyone has gifts and everyone must
give gifts

•Relationship Building – Start a neighborhood coalition
•Share the asset map with students and teachers. Have
them give you input to additional assets.
•See where there are commonalities (shared goals)
•Collaborate!! Get school officials and assets to talk to one
another
•Be patient! Relationships are not built overnight.
