2. From the beginning, Nashville grew from a
foundation built on music. Music is what connects
the life and soul of the city and its people.
• In the 1700s settlers celebrated by playing fiddle tunes and
buck dancing after safely embarking on the shores of the
Cumberland River.
• The first “celebrity,” of Nashville was the noted frontiersman
and Congressman Davy Crockett.
• In the1800s Nashville grew to become a national center for
music publishing.
• Fisk Jubilee Singers from Nashville’s Fisk University become
first musical act to tour around the world even the Queen of
England stated the group must come from the “Music City.”

broadcast and today is a live entertainment phenomenon. Referred
to by some as “country’s most famous stage.”

10. Honky Tonk Highway is a popular strip to visit in Downtown
Nashville. Here you can find many honky tonk bars, Hard Rock
Cafe, stores to shop in, the Bridgestone Arena, Music City Hall
of Fame and Museum, and the Music City Walk of Stars.
11. Located in Centennial Park, Nashville’s premier urban
park. The re-creation of the 42-foot statue Athena is the
focus of the Parthenon just as it was in ancient Greece.

Cumberland River for dinner and a show. There are
three shows, a Sunday General Jackson Jubilee
Brunch, a midday show called Nashville Live, and an
