ITMark certification
Micro I/O was one of the first 3 portuguese companies holding ITMark certification.
1st portuguese company achieving the ITMark Premium level!
The project and implementation were conducted under the ACTOR2 of Inova-Ria,
with support from the European Community.
Before IMS
• Software development management ad-hoc.
• Hardware development management by waterfall.
• Business process centralized but not standardized.
• Help-desk missing backbone structure
and full CRM integration.
• Client interface lacking an assertive approach.
• Data security managed ad-hoc.
Before IMS
Not that bad…
Lots of goodwill…
…but with a lot of improving space.

IMS / IT Mark tools
• Redmine platform as a way to organize and make available valuable information.
• Internal development of plugins (several…).
• Others.
IMS / IT Mark tools
• Several integrations.
• CRM
• Redmine
• Code Repository
• PHC (Management and billing tool)
• …
Custom system covering our needs
Problems and Issues
• SME usual lack of time.
• Hardware development own scope.
(not a standard IT/software company)
• Production and prototyping
environment.
Lessons Learned
• Standardizing processes and procedures.
• Increase of internal reliance.
• Time spent was recovered - and even more saved.
• Metrics implemented helped us to know better the development team, pace
and characteristics.
• Not that commercial advantage…
(IT Mark is not that well know around here – yet!).
Next?
• Go for CMMI dev (maybe only software development).
• Finalizing ISO 9001 certification.
• Tackle IT Mark Elite.
