Where we are
Umbria

Our Region is called the “green heart” of Italy
for its natural beauties. There are few towns
and many villages rich of history and art.
Castiglione del Lago
Castiglione del Lago is located in the Region of Umbria, the Green Heart of Italy.
It is origin are medieval but also during the Renaissance Period period was a very important town.
The town is surrounded by the Trasimeno Lake, the lake of the Hannibal Battle (II Punic war).
Historically was a fisher town but today it become a very important tourist place. A section of the
lake is today a natural oasis, good for bird watching, excursion, natural path and natural workshop.
From the point of view of the culinary the best products are represented by the fishes and a
particular bee called “Fagiolina” that grow up only in this area. During the summer the
Municipality in collaboration with local associations organizes a lot of different food festival.
It’s an important place also for the wine, located at 20 km from the Chianti area (Montepulciano,
Cortona, Arezzo) the Trasimeno zone is a D.O.C. wine region.
Agricolture nature and tourism are essential elements of the local economy.
Castiglione del Lago is a town of about 5,000 inhabitants ( 15,000 in the whole
Municipality).Castiglione del Lago offers all the aquatic sports: sailing, windsurfing,
water-skiing, canoeing, swimming; it’s also very interesting to go trekking or by
mountain-bike along the tracks which surround the lake.
Castiglione del lago is part of the "Parco Regionale del Lago Trasimeno". It conserves
an area of 13,200 hectares and embraces the communities of Castiglione del Lago,
Magione, Panicale, Passignano and Tuoro and the three Trasimeno islands. Isola
Polvese; Isola Maggiore; Isola Minore is a privately owned island. Nearby Castiglione del
Lago are all the major Art centres of Central Italy. In half hour by car you can arrive in
Perugia, Assisi, Cortona, Arezzo. Within a little more than an hour you can be in Siena,
Florence or Orvieto. Rome is a couple of hours distance and easily arrived at by train.

“Istituto Omnicomprensivo Rosselli - Rasetti”
Our school is the “Istituto Omnicomprensivo Rosselli - Rasetti”. It is a comprehensive
secondary school with around 600 Pupils from 11 to 18 years old. It includes middle
school (secondaria di 1° grado) and High-school (secondaria di 2° grado). Our Head
teacher is Ms. Eleonora Tesei.
The middle school has two locations, the main one in Castiglione del lago and the
second one in Pozzuolo Umbro.
The high school has two locations in Castiglione del lago. It provides four different
courses:
- Istituto Tecnico Tecnologico for Mechanics, Mechatronics and Energy
- Istituto Tecnico Tecnologico for Information Technology and Telecoms
- Istituto Tecnico Tecnologico for Economics, Finance and Marketing
- Istituto Professionale per l’Industia e l’Artigianato for Maintenance and Technical
Support.
Our students come from the neighbouring area and they get to school by bus, train or by
their own means.

The “middle” school has
two locations, the main
one in Castiglione del Lago
and the second one in
Pozzuolo Umbro.
Our ideas for local activities
Science, health and multimedia in the Park of Trasimeno.
“CAMMINARE INSIEME” – “Walking Together”
Times is running, everything is running around us, overall in sport activities, focused on
speed, everything is too hectic… Is the time to slow down…why not in the middle in the
nature. Walking, biking, trekking as psycho-physic relax, environmental education and
comparison will be the right “mix”. Developing of itineraries, paths, and environmental
and cultural routes in the area of Park of Trasimeno.
Activities
Physic, environmental education, science, TIC&multimedia, history, Geography,
English, French.
1 Step – Jan. Feb. March 2014 Extracurricular and curricular
Anatomy, workshop of environmental education, Excursion-Walking (trekking, mountain
bike), kite-surf, SUP – stand up paddling, sailing.
History of the town and his geographical en geological characteristics.
2 Step – March April May 2014 Extracurricular
Excursions and collection of materials and documentation. (Photo and video).
3 Step – June 2014 Extracurricular
Presentation of materials realized (Maps, Interactive maps, QR code).
Art&craft and landscape
Extracurricular activities focused on:
-Natural and science workshop
-Modeling of wood and metals.
Final products exposition inside the complex of the Museum of the City (area Park of
Trasimeno and on the wood of the park. Models in wood and metals.
Photosynthesis and Alternative Power
Extracurricular activities focused on:
-Science, chemistry.
-Workshop and classes on renewable energy.
Final Products:
Database of the activities.
Expo-Panels
Machineries (solar panels, mini-oil mill)
Volunteering and Active Citizenship
Extracurricular activities focused on:
-Volunteering and the world of the associations of Castiglione del Lago.
-Volunteering and the opportunities (EVS, Cultural exchanges).
-Meeting with Emergency Volunteers.
- Intergenerational competition on bowls game with the CSA (Third-age centre).
- Participation and collaboration with ANLAIDS (National Organization of HIV) during
the main event in the town.
- Juggling (In collaboration with the Association of animators in Hospitals).

Our students come from the neighbouring area and they get to school by bus, train or by their own means.

  • 11. The Middle School The “middle” school has two locations, the main one in Castiglione del Lago and the second one in Pozzuolo Umbro.

Our ideas for local activities Science, health and multimedia in the Park of Trasimeno. “CAMMINARE INSIEME” – “Walking Together” Times is running, everything is running around us, overall in sport activities, focused on speed, everything is too hectic… Is the time to slow down…why not in the middle in the nature. Walking, biking, trekking as psycho-physic relax, environmental education and comparison will be the right “mix”. Developing of itineraries, paths, and environmental and cultural routes in the area of Park of Trasimeno. Activities Physic, environmental education, science, TIC&multimedia, history, Geography, English, French. 1 Step – Jan. Feb. March 2014 Extracurricular and curricular Anatomy, workshop of environmental education, Excursion-Walking (trekking, mountain bike), kite-surf, SUP – stand up paddling, sailing. History of the town and his geographical en geological characteristics. 2 Step – March April May 2014 Extracurricular Excursions and collection of materials and documentation.   • 14. Art&craft and landscape Extracurricular activities focused on: -Natural and science workshop -Modeling of wood and metals. Final products exposition inside the complex of the Museum of the City (area Park of Trasimeno and on the wood of the park. Models in wood and metals.

Expo-Panels Machineries (solar panels, mini-oil mill) Volunteering and Active Citizenship Extracurricular activities focused on: -Volunteering and the world of the associations of Castiglione del Lago. -Volunteering and the opportunities (EVS, Cultural exchanges). -Meeting with Emergency Volunteers. - Intergenerational competition on bowls game with the CSA (Third-age centre). - Participation and collaboration with ANLAIDS (National Organization of HIV) during the main event in the town. - Juggling (In collaboration with the Association of animators in Hospitals).
