4.1 CONTEXT OF THE ORGANIZATION
 Determine external and internal issues relevant to its purpose
and its strategic direction and that affect ability to achieve the
intended result(s) of its EMS

Determine the boundaries and applicability of the EMS to establish
its scope.
When determining this scope, the organization shall consider:
a) the external and internal issues referred to in 4.1;
b) The compliance obligation referred in 4.2
c) Its organization units, functions and physical boundaries
d) Its products and services of the organization.
e) Its authority and ability to exercise control and influence

a) To achieve the
enhancing its environmental performance, the
organization shall establish, implement , maintain
and continually improve an EMS, including the
process needed and their interaction , in accordance
with requirements of international standards
b) Consider the knowledge gained in 4.1, and 4.2 when
establishing and maintain the EMS
