1. ISN INSTRUCTIONS
There are two sides to the ISN, the LEFT and the
RIGHT side. The left side is also called the student
side or the output page (even no’s) because
everything on this page is student generated. The
right side is also called the teacher side or the input
page (odd no’s) because this is information that is
provided to the student.
 Pages are NEVER removed from your
interactive notebook.
 Color is an essential part of the notebook.
 When given input pages for the right side of the
ISN, only give or tape will be used to adhere it.
No staples or paper clips.
 Key ideas are underlined in color or highlighted.
 Never continue a right-side page onto the back
should tape or glue on extra sheet to extend the
page.
 If a student is absent, he/she must get the right-
side input from the teacher or another student.
 If you have lost your notebook, you should
inform your teacher immediately and make a
notebook.
 Write the date of the lecture on top line of each
page, number pages on the bottom outside
corner of every page.
