The document discusses the rising challenge of mobocracy in India and its threat to democracy. It defines democracy as a system of government by the people and mobocracy as rule by masses through informal means and absence of rule of law. Mobocracy has emerged due to prejudices cultivated in society, a collective sense of insecurity, and spread of misinformation on social media. It threatens the rule of law and stability of government. Solutions proposed include strict enforcement of rule of law, establishing fast track courts, regulating social media, promoting constitutional values and reducing prejudices in society.
28 corruption or bribery (complete english essay) the college studyMary Smith
Corruption takes many forms and has severe negative consequences for society. It is a serious problem in many countries, including Pakistan. Common forms of corruption include bribery, abuse of power for personal gain, and selling goods illegally on the black market. Corruption undermines trust in government, leads to inequality, and can ultimately destabilize a country if left unchecked. While eliminating corruption completely may not be possible, concerted efforts are needed from both government and citizens to curb it, through measures like increasing accountability, reforming rules and procedures, and changing cultural attitudes that have allowed corruption to spread.
Mathieson_Prostitution Policy- Legalization Decriminalization and the Nordic ...Ane Mathieson
This article discusses different policy approaches to regulating prostitution: criminalization, legalization/decriminalization, and the Nordic model. It argues that Washington State is an important case study for introducing a model similar to the Nordic model. The Nordic model criminalizes buying sex but not selling it, in order to reduce demand for prostitution and help those wishing to leave. The article examines debates around viewing prostitution as a moral failing, as sex work, or as resulting from inequality. It suggests criminalization disproportionately punishes those in prostitution, while full legalization risks normalizing prostitution as labor without addressing underlying harms.
This document provides an overview of a paper analyzing the relationship between crime rates and socioeconomic factors. It contains an introduction discussing the concept of crime and factors influencing criminal activity. The document then outlines several sections analyzing the roots and economic factors related to crime, quantifying the relationship between crime and education, unemployment, urbanization, and law enforcement spending through regression analysis and examples of different countries. It concludes with remarks on policies for reducing crime.
This document discusses several topics related to maintaining social hierarchies, including:
1) How stereotypes can become self-fulfilling prophecies that push people into stereotyped roles.
2) How women's worth and access to resources is often determined by their ability to attract men and get married.
3) How institutions in the US tend to be organized in ways that promote capitalist and corporate interests over democracy.
The document discusses several topics related to globalization and crime, including how globalization has increased interconnectedness and opportunities for transnational crime. It examines how global economic trends impact supply and demand for illegal goods. It also explores how globalization has influenced risk perceptions and criminal organizations. Green criminology is introduced as an approach that considers environmental harms rather than just legal definitions of crime.
The document discusses how globalization has led to the rise of transnational organized crime and new forms of criminal networks. It also examines green criminology and the identification of primary and secondary green crimes that cause environmental harm. Finally, it analyzes state crimes such as genocide, war crimes, and torture as well as how powerful states are able to commit human rights abuses through techniques like denial of responsibility.
Globalisation, Green Crime, Human Rights, State CrimeBeth Lee
This document discusses various topics related to crime and globalization, including green crime, state crime, and human rights. It provides definitions and examples of different types of crimes such as primary green crimes that directly harm the environment, and secondary crimes like hazardous waste dumping. State crime is defined as illegal activities perpetrated by state agencies and can take political, economic, and social/cultural forms. Human rights are discussed in relation to crime, with some arguing crime should be defined as violations of human rights rather than by legal statutes alone. Conditions contributing to state crimes like obedience to authority and dehumanization of victims are also examined.

The document summarizes several important court cases and laws related to race and gender issues in U.S. history. It discusses how early laws and court rulings restricted the rights of Native Americans, Chinese immigrants, and enslaved people. It then summarizes key civil rights milestones like the Emancipation Proclamation, women's suffrage, and landmark Supreme Court cases establishing desegregation and same-sex marriage rights.
State crimes refer to illegal or harmful activities perpetrated by state agencies and governments. Some examples of state crimes discussed in the document include genocide, war crimes, torture, and imprisonment without trial. State crimes are especially serious because they are committed by powerful state actors and can involve harm against large numbers of victims. The document discusses how states can violate human rights through various criminal acts and provides examples such as torture in Iraq and ethnic cleansing in Darfur.
The document discusses ethnicity and crime in the UK and USA. It provides statistics showing that ethnic minorities, particularly those of Afro-Caribbean descent, are overrepresented in crime statistics and the prison population compared to their percentage of the total population. However, victim surveys show that most crime is intra-ethnic. There are two main explanations for this: structural factors such as racism and economic marginalization increase criminality; or that discrimination in the criminal justice system results in ethnic minorities being disproportionately policed, arrested, and convicted.
The documents discuss the history and current status of the death penalty around the world. The death penalty was established as far back as the 18th century BC in Babylon and was legal in Kazakhstan until being abolished for all crimes in 2021 with the exception of wartime. Amnesty International recorded the lowest number of executions globally in 2020 in 18 countries. Common arguments for and against the death penalty are examined, concluding there is no evidence it deters crime more than imprisonment and no humane way to carry out executions.
This is a presentation including everything about the Globalisation of crime in A2 sociology course; Crime and Deviance as well as some extra notes on state crime/human rights violations. This is used to teach students along side worksheet.
A cashless society could lead to loss of privacy and freedom, exclusion of vulnerable groups, and increased security risks. It may empower companies and governments over individuals by allowing greater surveillance and control over people's behaviors and financial transactions. While a cashless system could reduce crime, it could also deepen poverty and exclusion by leaving those without access to digital payment systems behind. There are also concerns about increased risks of cybercrime and fraud in a fully digital payment system. Overall the document discusses both benefits and significant risks of moving to a cashless society.
Official crime statistics show that ethnic minorities, particularly black people, are overrepresented at various stages of the criminal justice system. Black people are much more likely to be stopped and searched by police, arrested, and imprisoned. However, statistics do not prove whether ethnic groups actually commit crimes at different rates or if overrepresentation is partly due to discrimination within the criminal justice system, such as disproportionate targeting by police. Explanations for differences in crime rates include sociological theories of marginalization, racism, and conflict perspectives, as well as debates around the accuracy and biases of official data.
This presentation exposes what is mental health with statistics that will open your eyes that this issue might be closer to home thank you think!

1) Violent crime, especially homicides, are concentrated among small groups and populations in poor minority neighborhoods, even within otherwise safe cities.
2) Traditional approaches to addressing gangs and group violence through enforcement and prevention have shown little effectiveness and cannot accomplish goals like eliminating gangs.
3) A strategic intervention approach focuses on direct and sustained communication with the highest risk street groups through a partnership of law enforcement, social services, and community leaders to convey a unified message that the violence must stop and help is available.
Globalization has contributed to the rise of transnational organized crime by creating new opportunities and connections across borders. This is illustrated by the illegal drug trade between Colombia and the United States, where there is both a huge demand for drugs in the US and a ready supply from impoverished Colombian farmers and traffickers. The global criminal economy is now worth over $1 trillion annually through activities like the drug trade, human trafficking, and money laundering of criminal profits. Globalization has also led to new patterns of local criminal organization, as seen in studies of groups in the UK that connect to the global drug trade through local distribution networks.
Crime and poverty are contemporary social issues according to the document. Statistics show that households below the median income level are twice as likely to be victims of crime. The document examines explanations for the link between crime and poverty from Marxist, social interactionist, and empirical research perspectives. Marxism views crime as rooted in economic inequalities under capitalism where the ruling class exploits the working class. Social interactionism sees crime as learned through interactions in deprived social environments. Research also finds poverty increases the likelihood of youth violent crime due to family circumstances and developing identities in response to community deprivation.
This document discusses crime in the Philippines, including typical crimes such as pickpocketing, fraud, robberies, and assaults. It provides statistics showing that crime rates in 2011 were similar to 2010 levels, with over 230,000 reported incidents that year. Common factors that influence criminal behavior include poor parenting, peer pressure, drugs and alcohol, low income and education levels, and exposure to media violence. Efforts to discourage crime involve increasing punishments and the presence of law enforcement on streets and neighborhoods.
8 GLOBALISATION of CRIME: Ian Taylor Marxist Analysismattyp99
Globalization has led to increases in certain types of crime according to Ian Taylor's Marxist perspective. Taylor argues that the rise of multinational corporations moving production overseas, the growing materialism promoted by media, and increased use of subcontracting have undermined communities and widened inequalities, encouraging some groups like the poor to turn to crimes like drug trafficking out of lack of opportunities. At the same time, the deregulation of markets has created criminal opportunities for elite groups through activities like insider trading, tax evasion, and unsafe employment practices.

The Khārijites: Historical Roots Of Modern-Day extremism And Terrorism.
It is common knowledge to the scholars of the Muslims and their students that ISIS, Boko Ḥarām, al-Qāʿidah and others are simply another manifestation of the recurring appearance of this group that was explicitly mentioned by the Prophet of Islām. Their appearance was prophesized by the Prophet (peace be upon him) in a large number of traditions and they indeed appeared less than 30 years after him in 36H, around the year 657CE. Because this faction was intended as a trial and tribulation for Muslims in various times and ages, the Prophet (peace be upon him) spoke extensively about them, their traits, activities and their great danger upon Islām and the Muslims. The traditions in this regard are well-known and famous and have come through large-scale transmission right from the dawn of Islām. In this treatise we look at the historical events behind the emergence of this group and its subversive, destructive activities.

Magnificent work as the background by the shape and by the subject. The edition is sublime, the work is huge and you can see the love between-that testifies to those who have contributed to this impressive work towards our mother, Aicha, radia Allahu anha.
The book is the most comprehensive research Aicha either: her life, her virtues, her place in Science, her place among Ahl al-Bayt, and finally a rebuttal to the falsehoods that are said to her, may Allah humiliates the Rawafid.
In addition to this great content presented in a particularly careful and successful edition, the authors have prepared a summary of the book of about forty pages in 7 languages: Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Indonesian, Turkish, French and English
The book is praised by many scholars and preachers including: Mufti Abdel Aziz Al Shaykh, Shaykh al-Fawzan, Shaykh al-Barrak, Shaykh ar-Rajihi

Diseases of the Hearts & their Cures (Ibn Taymiyyah)Om Muktar
"Know O beloved reader that it is most important to spend one's time and energy in treating the heart, and hastening to correct and purify it from sickness and all sins. This is due to the heart occupying a great and lofty position in Islaam, for it is the place to which the Lord looks and the storehouse for tawheed, faith, and sincerity. Actions are distinguished, one from the other, with respect to their excellence in the Sight of Allah in accordance with the condition of the heart, not by their number or form, but rather due to the strength of the caller, his or her truthfulness, his or her sincerity and the extent to which he or she prefers Allah over himself or herself ... Al-Haafidh ibn Hajr al-Asqalaanee, may Allah have mercy upon him and provide us with his knowledge, said: "The heart has been singled out for this because it is the leader of the body, and through the purification of the leader the subjects become purified, and with his corruption they become corrupted. So if you, O servant of Allah, with to cure your heart then it is upon you to be truthful with regards to seeking refuge with Allah and putting your trust in Him, to pray a great deal of superogatory prayers, to perform the actions of obedience to Allah frequently, to pray the night prayer while the people are sleeping, and to treat your heart by making it continuously stick to the remembrances and by befriending only the righteous ... and to frequently recite the Qur'an. And Allah will indeed allow all of this to be preserved by him."

ذم الأشاعرة والمتكلمين والفلاسفة لأحمد بن الصديق الغماريOm Muktar

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
