The Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) has forced over 2 million people in northern Uganda to flee their homes to escape torture. Led by the religious fanatic Joseph Kony, the LRA has kidnapped, raped, and brutally murdered thousands. One survivor, Sylvia, watched as a rebel soldier killed her newborn baby by bashing it against a wall and cut off her husband's head with a machete. She was then forced to carry the rebel's equipment for a week before being rescued. In total, 301 people were massacred in the village of Barlonyo in 2004 when LRA rebels overpowered local defenses and burned people alive in their huts or hacked survivors to death.
